Art in Engineering.....
Quoted from Travish:New rotors for the big car are $25.
Chinese junk, sure. Buy OEM or OES for proper performance and durability.
Quoted from iceman44:When my long time mechanic says he can't do it, i would never venture into those waters myself
They have locked themselves into proprietary software and systems that nobody else can do.
So no, I seriously doubt you could do it yourself
www.ross-tech.com . I bought the interface for $300.00 eleven years ago and replaced the rear brakes three times on my A8 which requires the software to open & close the calipers to the pads & rotor dimensions.
Also use the interface countless times on my Beetle and Son's TT. Useful for so much troubleshooting & maintenance. Also for the "Service!" Indicator reset.
BMW has a ridiculous priced service interface. Same for Mercedes. Audi & VW, while complicated, can still be serviced by individuals with proper tools & equipment.
Quoted from Travish:I always liked the 928's.
Whatever you do don't lock the keys inside. There is only 1 tool that works and good luck finding someone that has it (besides me).
HPC makes some ingenious stuff, eh?
Quoted from trilogybeer:I do collision repair , Audi has the best frames/unibody and body .
My wife hit a NIB hot water tank at 60 mph (night time, snowing, came upon in the lane on a highway)in my A8. Car was driveable home, no warning lights, no leaks. Used it until warm weather came around as no more air conditioning. Replaced all of the front stuff once I was able to find it in Florida. The front aluminum bar saved the car.
Quoted from Travish:They revolutionized code cutting when the 1200 came out. Left everything else in the dust. I have a itl9000 now hooked to code software but will always have the 1200.
Loved how easy it was to turn those two "dials" for each cut. Haven't looked at their stuff in years, but recall the model was 1200CM.
Quoted from Metengo:And the design is timeless, they are not looking like cars from the last century.
Such a true statement. A Honda, Toyota and all the Asian vehicles have a major design change every few years making older models quickly look dated. Not so with Mercedes, BMW, Audi & VW. Perfect for those of us that keep and use cars for many years to save big $$$ in the long run.
Same for most of the domestics here in North America. All done on purpose to keep the eCONomy moving though.
Quoted from lancestorm:That's unfortunate. I've had nothing but good experiences. I guess we negate each other and they are OK?
I've owned six VW's and three Audi's putting on about 1,500,000 miles combined. Great vehicles, would buy again.....
Quoted from Blenderhead:Honestly, I have no real opinion about the Audi brand......just like the acronym......
A automotive
U unsafe
D designs
I incorporated
Always
Under
Diagnostic
Inspection
No problem for me though.
