I need some help with a sound problem I am having on an original MM. When the trolls pop up the sound goes off. The sound comes back on when they are done. Anyone ever experience this and any ideas what could cause it? Any help is appreciated.

I'd turn the game off and reseat connectors to AV board for a start. Be sure any socketed ICs on it are in tight.
Then you might get some clues to flaky connectors or power dropping.

I'm sorry. No idea how or where. Trolls take a lot of power. Only thing I can think of is it's sapping power. But you'd think the flippers would too.
Under the playfield - are they close enough to put a strain on other wiring nearby when going up and down ?
The switches- 2 troll faces and 2 up switches - in test - switch edge - do the right switches register ? I was thinking mixed up connector with GI or something ?

Try unplugging both troll coils and then start the troll mode and see if the sound keeps working, If it does then the problem should be on the playfield. Then plug in one at a time see what happens when you start the trolls. This should help narrow down where to look for a problem. Maybe a wire being crushed in the troll carriage or something shorting out.
If this does not help then maybe your game ROM's are corrupt.
