Here are photos from two different BSD 24-switch opto assembly boards. I agree with terryb in that I've seen errors or ambiguities in the parts list versus the schematic. The schematic is often (if not always) correct.

The schematic shows:

R9=470 1/2W
R12=10 (1/4W)
L1=10mH

On the board (if I interpret the colors correctly):

R9=470 1/2W
R12=0 (1/4W)
L1=?? (I don't have enough electronics knowledge to be able to figure this out)

Hmmm. That BSD does have problems with the long beam opto. Reports interference in the test. I haven't bothered to diagnose it further but this might very well be a starting point and (relatively) easy to fix.
