Quoted from TaylorVA:WOZ is not about points; it's about battling the witch, rescuing Dorothy, saving TOTO and on and on. A player's game is not so much measured by their score but by their achievements. I don't ask a WOZ owner how many points they score, but ask how many emeralds they've collected and if they have defeated the witch. I'd like to see a percentage displayed showing how far a player was able to progress through the game, that would be a much truer measure of how well a player did on the game.
Great way of putting it. I prefer that style of ruleset compared to one that just surrounds points. I feel the same way about LOTR. Keith really knows how to make an addictive comprehensive ruleset that makes you feel like you are on a quest. I rarely focus on how many points I'm getting in LOTR and WOZ and instead focus on how far I'm progressing in the games rules, how many rewards / emeralds did I earn and how close I' am to a mid or final wizard mode.
