Just picked up a low-play (200-ish) near- great condition, somewhat modded, IMDN Prem for $7500, seller met me half way on an otherwise 5 hour drive.

Unfortunately the pin was not on a shipping blanket in sellers vehicle, and as the pin was being removed, it caught on some things sticking up from the hard plastic vehicle bed it was on, damaging the front of the cabinet in a few places (see pics).

We agreed to keep going with trx at asking price, and then to turn to pinside to ask what value should be knocked from the pin for the damage, or in other words, if I sold this pin today in current condition, how much could I reasonably ask, knowing how picky pinheads are about any damage?

I’ll throw up a poll as well, but feel free to choose/write out thoughts or a different amount.

Also very-very interested in learning if this is feasible repairable. Could I fill in the small gouges/wood chipping with a putty or epoxy, and then order a new decal from Stern? That would be sweet, actually. If possible, maybe also cost to hire the “body work” out, get it done right.

Cheers!

BTW - seller is a great guy, super nice/accommodating/reasonable, just a mistake was made that needs fixing

Yikes!! PSA to all, use short PVC pipe or Tennis Balls to roll games in and out of vehicles! I just started using 4 tennis balls and life is amazing and no more blown out cabinet edges!
I’d say it’s repairable, damage is minor. I’m not super familiar with modern stern pricing. Personally, knowing guys who do repairs, they’d probably want $300-$500 to fix that.

That’s a great idea, the tennis balls!! Only thing is I live in middle of nowhere, 1.5 hours from any metro, and it’s not even a metro; 4 hours from Minneapolis. Not sure who’d I’d get to repair, thinking it over.

Quoted from herbertbsharp:

I'd put the damage value at probably $50 or less. The major damage is not more than a half an inch wide and what, less than an eighth tall? You can see just how small it is compared to the head of the bolt for the coin door. Use some wood glue to get that layer back in place, touch it up with some black paint and forget about it. Probably 15 minutes of actual work.

Ya was thinking a sharpie or my wife (who paints as an artist) could touch it up. There’s one spot that looks tough, where you mentioned wood glue, but it’s very splintered and spongy, so not sure it’d actually work. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Quoted from ForceFlow:

The damage is unfortunate, but fortunately it wasn't too bad since it was only on the black border of the artwork. I'd say no more than $100. Wood glue and maybe mask and airbrush some color-matched black (the black straight out of the bottle will likely *not* be a match--mix in a little gray or something), and I think the repair might be pretty much invisible.
When moving games, I always mummify them in stretch wrap. I pretty much never transport naked games.

What would be next best if airbrush not an option? Wouldn’t have anywhere in a town of 2000 to do something like that. Fine paintbrush, and any special kind of paint? My wife can color match, no problem, she’s a wizard with paint/brush.
