Hey Alex, I know this is actually a TH related question, but do you have examples of the LE and SE finishes? I'm trying to decide whether to "upgrade" to the SE (I have an LE on pre-order) but the trim color is one of the major factors for me.

I really HATE the MMr gold, so I'm trying to see these finishes to see how they compare to that and each other.

    Thanks

Alex does great work! Check out the wire forms he did for my TFTC!

I don't have any pictures I can show. I'll leave that to JJP. Sorry But trust me it won't be mustard yellow.

    Damn. That's hot.

It's a custom mix i do for MM and MB. It's blue in some lights and purple in others. Done with a refraction additive mixed into a blue base with a custom purple tinted clear I won't give any additional specifics but it's probably the most insane color we've done.

Black, with a touch of blue, would look great on a TZ.

Do you have a basic price list for legs, lock-down bars, and side rails?

Depends on the color. It's not a flat price. Different colors have different prices as powder prices vary wildly as does the work involved based on the color selection.

Alex, do you have any pictures of a matte or semi-gloss black? Just trying to get an idea of how flat it can come out. I'm debating full gloss or semi for my TZ.

    #60 5 years ago

Semi gloss is nice.. here is one with a hint of sparkle..

Matte (Semi)'s look great but they do look like a very dark shade of gray. You aren't going to get a deep deep black in a matte because their is no light penetration like there is with a 95+/- gloss clear.

Makes sense. I guess it'd be better to do a black with a gloss clear on top for fixing those swirls and small scratches, then?

    Wow, that is nice!

The black gloss (ink black) has a built in clear. You can buff them out but it's true the gloss will show micro scratches more than the matte by a large margin. Matte is beautiful though. Can't go wrong with it.

I'm thinking of "blacking out" my Demo Man - rails, hinges, handles, lockbar, legs, etc. I was thinking a gloss black, but that matte you show on the wheels has a very "tactical" look to it. What do you think?

I'm thinking of going black vs. the existing chrome because I think it fits the theme a bit better.

The matte looks beautiful. I recommend matte finishes especially on some of the more insane colors.

Can you do the woodgrain powdercoat look?

If you want woodgrain, why not get your parts hydro-dipped then clear coated?

And I wish Pinchroma was local I'd love to have the bumpers on my Jeep redone by someone who knows what they're doing, the powder coat that AEV did is bubbling and flaking in spots. My wallet would definitely be in trouble, between pin parts and jeep parts I'd have no money for anything else.
    Amazing work!

We ship car parts all over the place. Doing the bumper wouldn't be an issue. If powder is bubbling or peeling they didn't prep it properly. Probably powdered right over the existing finish. Not good!

There isn't really a wood grain powder but basically you do a black substrate, wood colored mid coat, rough it up with steel wool, clear coat to get a powder wood grain. Not perfect but looks good.

P.S. you are a 4 hour drive. Depending on how big the bumpers are it may be possible to have them done in one day so you drive here in the morning. Parts get done, drive home with them afterwards
