I have a new on/off switch that I am installing as the old one is broken and will not screw in. My question is, can I just cut these wires attached and attach them to the new switch? The new switch looks as if you place the wires in and screw them down, the old one appears to be soldered. Or do I have to solder these wires down?

Cut wires - attach to new switch.
