Has anyone ever made an older style light board with sockets to replace the fluorescent tube in newer games? I've seen people use led strips but I was wondering how hard it would be to make a modular style light board with many holes that would allow you to place individual lamp bulbs to accent different colors/effects? I'm thinking along the lines of a lite brite or something...kinda like the whole led strip board, but with a lot of holes with sockets so you could pull it out, switch lamps and use it for multiple games. would it be as easy as stringing/stapling wire to each socket like older games and connecting it to one power source?

A lot of folks are doing these kinds of things with programmable RGB strips. Even coffee tables. Shouldn't be all that hard to make one for a backbox. Using a separate power source, all you need to do is tap an outlet off the mains switch so it comes on when you turn the game on. You could do something similar with sockets, it's just going to take longer to assemble.
