Quoted from manadams:

sometimes the ball will fall off the metal rail right before the barrel entrance and get stuck. Anyone have a suggestion to fix this

Quoted from FtrMech:

the game remains playing as though there are still 2 remaining balls in play, I have to tune the game off to get out of the mode, when I turn it back on the balls are released...this continues this way, not a one off. Any thoughts?

Check the lock switches in switch test. Do all three register?
Did you put super shiny balls in the game? If so change to standard.

Quoted from Viggin900:

AP what brand of balls are used in Oktoberfest? I really like how these have played and need to get new ones! Thanks

Standard pinballs are best for games with magnets.

We got some Oktoberfest beer and will be streaming Oktoberfest tonight at 8pm central: https://www.twitch.tv/turbografx7
Tis the season!

#668 3 years ago
Quoted from manadams:

noticed more goofy stuff the longer I play it, maybe the balls have gotten magnetized or something?

Perhaps. Take them out and set them on a table together. You’ll be able to see if they’re magnetized.

If not, review your through and both membrane lock switches in switch test by dropping the balls in one at a time.

#669 3 years ago

Filimurz thank you for the feedback!
We have a passionate team at API that wants to see you enjoying your game.

PeteUK theres a list of all the API distributors on our website. Vegas9 might know which ones currently have inventory.

Quoted from manadams:

specifically the ball 2 lock on the beer barrel giving me issues. It will just randomly say "ball 2 locked" after I lock the second ball continuously. I tried reseating the ribbon cable connection underneath the playfield and no luck. I have the game steeper than recommended but don't really see that causing the issue. Any suggestions?

After you try Ferret suggestion. If that doesn’t help, it’s not a bad idea to have a spare membrane switch on hand https://store.american-pinball.com/products/membrane-switch

Quoted from Hop-Pac:

Is there any way to get a new Otto for the bar?

Yeah, send me an email: [email protected]
I’ll need to look up pricing.

I customized Otto as well.

Anyone else have a cool paint job to show off?

However to be ready I downloaded the new code but on transfer to USB I get an message
Game code has properties that can’t be copied to new location
Do I still continue
Any ideas on this?

Make sure you have a clean USB stick. Some flash drives come with preinstalled partitions that cause them to not be recognized by the game. I put together this handy instruction guide to help people wipe and format their USB drive. (click on the image, it's a full pdf file)

Noticed this weekend I have playfield wear behind the scoop (tent entrance). Has anyone used Cliffy’s protectors? Does it include a vinyl protector for behind the hole?

It does now. I recently worked with cliffy to add this piece specifically.

Quoted from SLicK350:

does bending the top of the rail up bit solve the problem? Ideas?

Yes. pull up on the top ring a little. Just enough so the ball doesn't get wedged between the metal below it.

For those that where looking for an extra Otto head to customize, we now have unpainted (and painted) heads posted on the API webstore: https://store.american-pinball.com/products/oktoberfest-otto-head-toy0012-00?variant=39269048025186

Hi I love my October fest but currently it is a mess. The upper slingshot keeps going off by its self and the Otto door opens up only half way. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Charles

Where did you get the light kit for the topper? It illuminates the topper perfectly.

I made it.
Parts are on order for kits that will be available soon. I already made the installation video.

Quoted from Aniraf:

The opto right at the start of the ramp/left orbit was triggering with the slightest of vibration of the ramp flap.

check the connection to the opto board for a flaky connection as well as the opto alignment on the top side.
If bad, there are replacements available here: https://store.american-pinball.com/products/opto
Use this reference guide to know which plug to check on the board: http://s4.american-pinball.com/img/support/2021-4/Oktoberfest--Quick-Reference-Guide.pdf

#950 2 years ago
Quoted from pinstyle:

The coil to my shooter lane was firing a bit too hard. As a result I would get a rebound back into the ball trough. This caused all kinds of issues with the game keeping track of where the balls are. The game seems to have a difficult time when there is any discrepancy in where the balls should be.

I made this video last month, but didn't set it to "public" view. Guess it will be helpful for more than a few people.

Quoted from NightTrain:

What size and type of screw do I need?

Look inside the threaded holes.
Get out your hex wrench set. A 5/64 hex should be the size you need to snug up the set screws.

#956 2 years ago
Quoted from NightTrain:

just snug it down and it will open and close where it needs to because of the opto sensors

This^

Did y’all figure it out?

Yup. The U opto under the Otto head that tells the home position had a wire pulled loose. I asked the API store to add this so he can replace it.

I was asked to "Fix" the address to the current plant location. Might as well make some improvements while I'm at it.
Here's the updated Oktoberfest manual: http://s4.american-pinball.com/img/support/2021-10/Okto-english-manual-10-5-21.pdf

Quoted from Ferret:

but the underlying issue is probably the membranes.

To increase longevity of the barrel lock switches, try turning off the feature to hold balls game-to-game.
I don't have solid data to support this, but I can say I troubleshoot that membrane switch 10x more with owners compared to the coaster lock which has the default to release the locked balls at the end of game.

Quoted from Hop-Pac:

So what are your thoughts on the new code?
Is it fun? Are there bugs?

Discovered one minor issue that would only come up in a multiball when more than one ball is shot into the scoop at once.
Set the default scoop coil power to 30 to accommodate.
Latest posted code v22.09.19 has this higher adjustability https://drive.google.com/file/d/12uSwLj3jI0RHRZAyFmIL5x5ACMkD5ETt/view?usp=sharing

Quoted from blazingsaddlz:

The open connector to attach this

The backbox LED strips are just daisy chained together.
You can move the power connector from one side to the other. Then plug your topper light into that open end.

Note: the polarity of the open end may differ with + on left or right.
If the topper doesn’t light when plugged in, flip the connector upside down
