Quoted from Ferret:

If you have the latest code, try turning on Settings > Oktoberfest > Lock Switch Compensation. Exit the service menu, THEN POWER CYCLE THE GAME.
Let us know if this helps.

This worked for me. I was about to change the pressure switch in my beer barrel. But then I changed the setting and it has been working fine ever since. And I still have my replacement pressure switch

Quoted from Viggin900:

FYI for everyone, to replace the rubber on the left of the vux, which seems to be snapping on many games, you pull off Otto from the bar. He his held on by magnets. Then you unscrew 2 screws for the bar top. Then 2 more for the bar itself. Lift the bar up so the nut and plastic can be accesed. Dont do what I did and remove everything above and below the playfield trying to get to it. What a nightmare. Thanks AP!
[quoted image]

I saw that band start to get really thin around the lower post, so I went ahead and replaced it with a violet superband (urethane). I'll add a picture shortly.

I agree that getting to that band was more work than I anticipated, but that was why I replaced it with a urethane band instead or the rubber or silicone band. Hopefully it will last a long time, so I won't need to go through that exercise again. Replacing it is not that bad now that I know how to do it. Just remove a bunch of stuff from above the playfield.

Quoted from manadams:

specifically the ball 2 lock on the beer barrel giving me issues. It will just randomly say "ball 2 locked" after I lock the second ball continuously. I tried reseating the ribbon cable connection underneath the playfield and no luck. I have the game steeper than recommended but don't really see that causing the issue. Any suggestions?

After you try Ferret suggestion. If that doesn’t help, it’s not a bad idea to have a spare membrane switch on hand https://store.american-pinball.com/products/membrane-switch

Is there any way to get a new Otto for the bar?

Seems to be working but only had a ball 2 locked for a short while, thanks for the help. Another suggestion for future code, the extra ball lit screen comes up when your in video mode in "tap it" and blinds you momentarily.

I'll 2nd this recommendation, this setting has resolved all my false ball lock/membrane switch issues.

Gah, I fixed it so that Extra Ball (or Replay) AWARDED displays would be suppressed during Tap It, didn't think about Extra Ball LIT... I guess that is from winning the tent and earning enough ducks to light EB? Thanks for the report, added to to-do list.

Yeah, send me an email: [email protected]
I’ll need to look up pricing.

Got my ramps and coin door back from Matt at Back Alley. He does great work. Game looks so good with powder coated ramps. Also added Titan rubber, colored nuts, pin stadiums and straw covers for the posts. Loving the game.

I always wondered what the wireforms would look like painted. I'm fine with the coin door the way it is. I am thinking of having the beer barrel wire done in gold to match the ramp. Thx for sharing.

Nicely done @robey99! Curious how the powder coat will stand up to wear and tear from the balls... Overall a pretty remarkable makeover for your #Ofest

Much appreciated. I have them on other games and so far so good with lots of plays. Matt at Back Alley does great work.

I customized Otto this week. I added skin tone, real hat feather, and hair. Looks so much better than the stock mold, one of the reasons I like Big Foot in White Water.

Looks like Otto could use a "trim", looks really cool though. Pity API put the "feather/Gamsbart" on the wrong side of the hat...they are traditionally on the Left side...or occasionally on the back.

Yea, I wondered if that was because of Otto's position on the play-field to make it more visually appealing.

#717 3 years ago

I customized Otto as well.

Anyone else have a cool paint job to show off?

So my magnet above the spinner quit working last night and right before it did it grabbed the ball and wouldn't release so I believe it got locked on and overheated. After cooling off overnight it is working again and I did re-seat the power connection. My magnet is also doing the occasional fling the ball instead of grab it like reported by some earlier in this thread.

#719 3 years ago

An occasional fling by the magnets is not unexpected. We don't have specific stats, but it'll happen. Just shouldn't be "frequent".

#720 3 years ago

The red head Otto is pretty cool!

I salute your customizing skills!

Your Otto kinda reminds me of the grandfather in Heidi. Now THAT was one partying dude!

Prost!

Very "loosely" based on a few true events, but I am enjoying it. The UK English dub makes it sound like a poor mans Peaky Blinders though. Switch it to German with English subtitles and its WAY better.
Prost!

Well I just had a game where the magnets flung the ball probably 75% of the time. Also having an occasional auto launch on new ball with it saying "ball saved" like it drained when ball save was lit.

#728 3 years ago

Huh. Not sure what to tell you about that. Can't even ask you for the logs, wouldn't really tell me anything about the magnet's effect on the ball. Are you seeing that on both the TAP lane magnet and the upper flipper magnet?

Oh, for the ball save thing: make sure your trough switches are all working properly, and that the balls aren't magnetized. A high percentage of problems with unexpected ball launches wind up being caused by magnetized balls.

The magnet flip thing seems to happen most when the ball is moving fast, happens more on upper flipper magnet but does happen on both. I replaced the balls with carbon steel so magnetization shouldn't be an issue, will just try and reseat all connections at trough and see if that helps.

This is probably the best pin to play during Thanksgiving as well. Food tents etc.

Yeah, the food plate during Füd Frenzy once you've made a few shots looks spot on for Thanksgiving.

Hop-Pac Aloisius looks great there!

After doing some work on my Dad's Cyclone, was thinking about the flags on his playfield, and decided to add just a couple to OF!IMG_2571 (resized).jpgIMG_2571 (resized).jpg
Loved my VW bus I had added earlier, but found this one a little larger and swapped out. I think its a better fit.IMG_2573 (resized).jpgIMG_2573 (resized).jpg IMG_2574 (resized).jpgIMG_2574 (resized).jpg
And finally, Oktoberfest may be over, but I picked up the perfect Christmas add on for it.

Pin is on way
However due to delays at AP it is coming from a different dealer ... no worries there.
However to be ready I downloaded the new code but on transfer to USB I get an message

Do I still continue
Any ideas on this?

#743 3 years ago

Hmmm. Mac or Windows or other? Make sure your USB thumb drive is formatted as FAT32. There should be nothing magical about the update file, it has no weird metadata or forks or anything, it's just a typical compressed/encrypted archive.

Make sure you have a clean USB stick. Some flash drives come with preinstalled partitions that cause them to not be recognized by the game. I put together this handy instruction guide to help people wipe and format their USB drive. (click on the image, it's a full pdf file)

Hi All
Me again
In anticipation of the arrival I was sent the updated coil stop to install
Question - should I also need / require the lock down spacers fix?
Is this something I should reach out and request?
Thanks

Yup, my bar scratched the powder coating off the side rail due to movement. Can be avoided with the spacers.

#748 3 years ago

Anybody find or make some characters for the bumper cars ? Wouldn't necessarily have to be like the ones in the debut show games. I think it would be nice to maybe have something in those bumper cars.

#749 3 years ago

I've thought about but it would be impossible with that clearence. I think new bumper cars would have to be made, unless you can think of character that would fit in scale. A snake?

#750 3 years ago

I was thinking maybe just some heads for the cars. One car is especially tight under the rail but maybe one head could be a puker leaning over the side.
