Thank you for continuing to polish the game! I've had my Oktoberfest for a few months and love it! The rules are what I really appreciate the most about this game.

Quoted from Ferret:

CHANGE LOG
20.08.13 (TEST BUILD)
NEW -- Settings > Oktoberfest > Lock Switch Compensation: if set to YES, the game will be more tolerant of erratic lock switches. Only enable if you know your lock switches are malfunctioning. ** NOTE ** changing this setting requires a game restart to take effect.
NEW -- Settings > Oktoberfest > Selection Timeout: now adjusts or disables the timer when selecting steins or tents.
NEW -- Settings > Pricing: added new pricing plans and support for Tokens.
NEW -- Settings > Replay: added Automatic Replay Percentaging.
NEW -- Attract: add score award (Replay, Extra Ball) info page to attract mode.
MODIFIED -- Beer Barrel Multiball: slightly increased scoring (again).
MODIFIED -- Boot: improved speed of powering up the game.
MODIFIED -- Calorie Coma: now shows total points earned when the mode concludes.
MODIFIED -- Coils: some defaults and ranges were adjusted; current settings will not be changed.
MODIFIED -- Coils: should be smarter about trying to free balls from devices when release doesn't immediately work; also don't retry forever so coils don't burn up.
MODIFIED -- Match: improved choreography.
MODIFIED -- Presets > Competition: now sets "Juggling Shots to Win" to 1, to discourage players from intentionally losing this tent. (Not that doing so was ever a good idea...)
MODIFIED -- Service Mode: minor improvements to UI.
MODIFIED -- Tap It: earning a replay or extra ball by score award during Tap It will skip the usual animation so the video mode isn't obscured.
MODIFIED -- Target Shooting: improved choreography.
FIXED -- Calorie Coma: scoring should now be working as intended.
FIXED -- Duck Derby: fixed a bug that could incorrectly award a player victory when their duck actually lost the race.
FIXED -- Duck Derby: losing the race should no longer cause loss of turn.
FIXED -- Duck Derby: don't allow the Derby to continue after a tilt.
FIXED -- Mystery: Points award now honors current Playfield X.
FIXED -- One Handed Play: no longer activates ball search if you hold balls on the left flipper for a long time.
FIXED -- Service Mode > Audits: now correctly tally Games Played - All Time.
FIXED -- Service Mode > Tests > Lamps: fixed a bug that could have broken normal game lighting after running Lamp Test.
FIXED -- Settings > Standard > Tilt Bob Settle Time / Tilt Warnings: now take effect immediately, instead of waiting for the next power cycle.
FIXED -- Stein and Tent Selection: cancel selection if the game is tilted while on the selection screen.

We put out a beta release a few months back, but we were all-hands-on-deck getting Hot Wheels ready and polished. Now that HW is out, doing great, and has had a couple post-launch updates, we have turned our sights back to the lingering beta updates... rosh on Houdini and me on Oktoberfest. Here's what's in store (a few additional things may join the list):

Is there anything to fix the intermittent playfield lights when playing Last Call and Re-Entry? Sometimes the S-O-B-E-R lights are off, sometimes they're on. Same with the Green Tent arrows on Re-Entry. Or is that by design?

It is not by design, we are not that mean, plus messing with the flippers makes enough of a challenge. So far we have not yet figured out to replicate the issue to figure out what causes it, but we have a couple of theories we will investigate.

What is the green tent arrow bug on Re-entry? Do the arrows all get stuck green or something? Don't think I've seen this one.

I've had all playfield lights off. Including the arrows. And I've had the arrows lit green. What is it supposed to do by design?
I have the Save setting on 2 saves because I like to play these last chance games. If it happens again, I'll post a pic here

I have had my Oktoberfest for a few weeks and love it. The knocker during gameplay is awesome. The only thing I could see to add with the knocker during gameplay would be to use it at the start of the cork screw multiball to simulate the chain clicking on the way up the track and have the shaker go crazy on the way down the drop.

#508 3 years ago

Oooh, using the knocker to simulate the anti-rollback, that's a neat idea... I'll have to fiddle with that to see if I can make it sound right.

We already do fire some shaker as the coaster goes down the hill... not too much, it's a smooth metal coaster, not a woodie.

#509 3 years ago

I have an Oktoberfest pin And the corkscrew ramp Quit coming down. In coil test mode it will flutter but not go down. Coil and wiring looks ok . Didn’t seem to be anything mechanical broken. Any suggestions ?

#510 3 years ago

I don't have one to check.

I'd turn the game off. Go over the mechanical side first. Push it up, let it down. Might be a coil shoving it up and a coil latching it and releasing it down. Be sure nothing is loose, out of place, or bent. Check the coils for broken wires too.

Then in tests try it there and see if it works better in test.

Besides help here and the stickies. Open a ticket for service on the american-pinball.com website. They maybe can check the build on your game by serial number and advise updates.

Word

I didn’t see any stickies here but found some sort of TSB’s on AP’s website which was cool

Game is en route now. Registered it today to get in front of the thing. Purdy sure the coil kit was stocked by the distro too.

Do I need to replace the coil stops or did those make it onto semi-recent production games?

should have new stop, only applies to upper flipper. when you get your game, compare it to the photo in this post . . .

Agreed.

Once I get it dialed in the enhancements begin!

The ball often hangs up on a switch under the pops right now. Tomorrow I will dig deeper.

Other than that holy smokes!

Game was nicely packed for the trip here.

Feels very well built. Refreshing.

Reminds me of a bit of a 90's WMS. Campy & loaded.

Bravo AP.

So far I'm impressed. Looking FW to what AP does next.

Check your level...your right...it is loaded. It will take a little tweaking but well worth it.

@pw79, I occasionally have the same issue with the switch below the pops. A bump frees up the ball so I haven't really dug into it. I'd be interested to hear your fix.

Nice skateboard collection too!

Thanks. Foosball indeed. Been thinking of getting a new T-3000 coin op model to replace this modified Cyclone II.

Thanks. So far I've bent the switch as far as I can while still registering. That helped but did not resolve. I have since also increased coil power on the right & lower pop. That may have been the ticket. Time will tell. I have a few other ideas if not.

Will do. I believe it is worth it. Game is super cool. Inga is hilarious!

Tony Hawk! No Mike Mcgill? By the way if AP is listening, I've always said, Jim Phillips would make the ultimate pinball artist. If he can do iconic work on a wood deck imagine a playfield. Would blow Dirty Donny away. There are too many people on Pinside like us with board collections that cherish the classics and to own a game with his art would be magic. Who doesnt know the screaming hand? It's as popular as Coca Cola. I bet he's cheap too!

No McGill... yet.

I have a few Jim Phillips art books. He's done everything BUT pinball. He'd be a great asset to pinball. Without a doubt my favorite artist.

Speaking of art... Someone make an Oktoberfest overlay for the corner of the apron lol

AP, now that we have an Oktoberfest pin maybe go a tad NW & make an Amsterdam pinball. Space cakes & coners!

So far I have not had the ball hang up in the pops since increasing coil power. Schweet.

Installed new coil stop for the upper flipper. The ball now flys off the yellow ramp & gets stuck behind Otto. Exciting! But unwelcome.

Anyone have that happen? If so what did you do? I'm thinking a clear plastic ramp cover may be required.

Try reducing the power to the Upper Right flipper, via Settings > Coils. If it's going airborne, it's getting too much juice.

I have the coil stop fix but never put it in. I can hit the ramp with out it. It's at the tip...but that's what Inga likes!

#528 3 years ago

pity i can't show you this as surelly it will never happends again :

shoot the U TURN ramp
while ball goes up she jump out of the rail to perfectly finish on the CC ramp curve, and than rolling in the opposite logical way
of course not for long time due to the slope/physic
and than roll back the normal way to came by in the right inner lane

#529 3 years ago

Just noticed the plastic over the Prost targets is getting damaged by the target itself. The metal back of the target is rubbing the paint off the plastic. I put washers to raise up the plastic so this won’t happen anymore. I’m not the first owner so I don’t know if there were supposed to be washers there originally but wanted to let everyone know just in case this is an issue on all of them.

Got to the bug in Re-Entry again.
No green arrows on Tent, and blue arrows lit on Beer Barrel, Bar, and Food Stand.

Thats never happened to me, yet. Speaking of bugs tho. Ever have the right ramp up but the lock insert lit?

#532 3 years ago

Anyone else have the lockdown bar wear the paint right off the side rails & go into the metal on day one?

My lockdown bar has a slight bend & burr digging into the rail. Totally minor but damn it bugs the shit out of me.

Considered getting new hardware from AP but if they're all borked & I'm getting pushback then why bother.

Side note

Played SOBER, or whatever it's called. I was unprepared & unaware of this mode.

Anyway, Super cool!

Played it, or something like it a 2nd time. This was what I got. No lights.

Damn.

Is this the re entry bug?

I went to snap a pic & the ball drained. But as you see it here is how it was during play.

yes of course...
initially there were 2 small rubbers on each (in)side, but these are moving with time, and when there gone, than you have what you describe... doesnt bother me, even on a new pin, simply because this is normal (for me)

Right arm

As long as most Oktoberfest's have some armor wear I'm good. None, zero, of my Sterns have it. But... I'd rather have armor issues than Stern's PF issues.

Hope the bug gets fixed soon. That sober mode is hilarious AF. I legit started yelling "no way no way" it was so unexpected, funny & cool.

#540 3 years ago

I bought my Okto after being routed and I did notice some wear on the right side armor. It doesn't bother me that much because I bought it used and you can't really see it since it is mostly under the bar in my case. I made a few minor adjustments to the screws under the bar so that it won't move as freely as it once did. You can try adjusting those screws 1/8 or 1/4 turn at a time, make sure you can still lock the bar with the lever inside the cabinet. Limiting the amount the bar moves will reduce the wear on the side armor. Just remember to try and keep both screws even and to make small adjustments at a time. Small adjustments go a long way.

well, that means you never "moves/shock" the pin while playing ?
as no matter as the lockdow bar still move & how its thin, if you nudge, it will still move & scratch the siderails...
solution would be to put back that rubber (well its not rubber, dont know the word in english) there under, right to be above the siderails

#542 3 years ago

I have the wear as well...probably due to the rough finish...eh, whatever.

#543 3 years ago

How do you light last call and re-entry?

#544 3 years ago

The targets over each outlane that can qualify ball savers... the first few (adjustable) outlane saves are “easy”, but then you have to earn the save via Last Call or Re-entry.

Any idea on a bug resolution?

This mode is so neat!

Do y'all need beta testers still?

Since this is my newest game I play it a lot.

#546 3 years ago

Still looking at that lighting issue in Last Call... it's one of those weird/annoying ones that isn't readily reproducible, but I'll figure it out.

We're good with our beta pool right now, but I'll ping ya if we need additional testers... thanks for offering. Enjoy the game!

Yet another reason I need to buy an Oktoberfest: I purchased a future mod.

Reason #117 - My mother's name is Inge and my wife's father is Otto. No Joke. Woke up Sunday AM thinking I needed to own a pinball machine. Found a Fish Tales for sale close by, but man - How could we not get into OF? I haven't play any pin in years and even then I was just a light weight casual player, but I love this game and the theme is just awesome for our family. Turns out a dealer was 20 mins down the road. Got one last night (pinside OF #76). After 3 hours of playing, I had to find a bratwurst mit senf! I'm serious.

Other than a USB stick that could not be read (2nd stick worked), I am occasionally getting the ball stuck @ Otto's bar on top of the duck target. Any suggestions? See pic

The yellow stand up target. Is the face sticking out a little too far, or needs to be pushed to the left a little ?

well, just wait for the ball search, or a slap on the cab do the trick (on mine)... small nudges will give your points (TILT on mine) as anyway, the code knows the ball is there because than you have the "big sausage" sample
