I forget, did they make an EM version of Hardbody's?
I own the single player version of this game "Lucky Ace"

While I agree the backglass is not much to appreciate. The game play is very fast for an EM. It gets lots of play at our house.
Quoted from jrpinball:We've explored the best, now what's your pick from the bottom of the barrel?
I'm going to name five of the ugliest IMHO, in no particular order except what I think is #1.
I know many of you are going to name Williams "Granada"/ "Spanish Eyes" as the worst, or right up
there with the worst. I don't really have a problem with that glass; to me it's definitely different, but not
terribly objectionable. One of you may name one that I will agree beats my #1 worst, but that's gotta be
one fugly backglass!
#5 Bally "El Toro"
#4 Williams "Student Prince"
#3 Williams "Post Time"/ "Paddock"
#2 Williams "Straight Flush"/ "3 Jokers"
and #1 Bally "Galahad" (man, what's in that wine goblet anyway?)
What say you?
,
out of your list, I think Galahad, and student prince... F'in YUCK !
Now back to reading through this thread, interesting topic OP ! thanks
C'mon, my first ever pin was a Bally Galahad. I also loved the game play of Gay 90's (before the new meaning of gay was shoved down our throats) and beauty is in the eye of the beholder as I think Spanish Eyes has great artwork and is a great playing game.
Super Star sucked.
Quoted from o-din:It looks like there was no bathroom available. He is still looking, but I think it is too late.
Adam Strange dropped a pantload on the way back to Rann
Quoted from Pin-it:What the..... http://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4557&picno=44358 An SS but good for a laugh.
wtf ... sega was around in 1959?
Quoted from woz:Pick any game with Christian Marche pointy people artwork - ughh!
Hey now. I like the pointy people. You had to be there in the early 70's to really get the vibe. What a time to be a kid. Pointy people, bell bottoms, big hair, and pins on route in many places......
Quoted from pezpunk:wtf ... sega was around in 1959?
SEGA= SErvice GAmes. Service as in Servicemen fighting wars. Started out with slot machines on Military bases.

I was there in the early 70's and I realize then that Gottlieb was king in both art and gameplay!
Always thought Buckaroo had crap art. Not the worst, OK if you like horses, but pretty poor for a Gottlieb of the period.
Lovin' this thread (and its sister thread about the best EM playfields...BTW, have we started a "Best EM Backglass" or "Worst EM Playfield" thread yet?). Some of these are true stinkers (in the art department). I'd never heard of Galahad (looks like Marche's elementary attempts at rotoscoping...perhaps an effort to get away from his pointy people? ...and the player one score are at the bottom??? That doesn't even make sense! ), El Toro (the backglass that is all border! Ha-ha!), Student Prince (...with the uninspired background. Looks like a deadline was looming over that glass.), or many others prior to sifting through this thread. Great fun.
However, some of these knocks I do not understand.
Air Aces? How are you gonna hate on classic Christensen? "Mission Accomplished?" Ha-ha! I'd hang that backglass in a second.
Cassanova? Sure they're not using local color (the actual color of water or the actual color of sky, etc), but I think that makes it really interesting, plus it's a great composition with lots to look at and even some interactivity with that little bagatelle unit in the bottom left.
...and half of those Circus themes people were complaining about looked pretty fabulous to me. I don't know if someone here has an aversion to clowns (certainly not unheard of), but barring any clown-o-phobia, those were some sweet backglasses.
Anyhow, just more two cents to stir the proverbial pot. I love being exposed to all these glasses which I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. Keep 'em comin', guys!
Sincerely,
Ryan Claytor

Marche is definitely known as the pointy people artist, but I think he is probably the most diverse of all of the EM era artists. Not all his works are universally appreciated but I have great respect for his body of work as a whole. Check some of these out and how uniquely different they are.

Well stated! ...and thanks for uploading the examples, too!

Quoted from o-din:I've got to get me a STAMPEDE!
I had one. Not a bad game but the back glass is the best part.
Quoted from AlexF:Not a bad game but the back glass is the best part.
Sometimes, that's all it takes!
Quoted from Pin-it:Just don`t poke your eyes out.
Who said they don't like pointy people?
Quoted from ShinyBall:Smart Set
That is pretty lame. But the artist does the best he can with any given theme.
Quoted from Darcy:"Stampede", it looks like O-din may have his new avatar.
o-din, Who knows, maybe one day someone will do the R-Rated Topless version Backglass for you like the Bally Twin Win!
Ken

I noticed that on another thread, right before I got back to these influential posts. *LOL*
Quoted from o-din:Pointy people are all right by me.
Some are more "pointy" than others. Wasn't there a guy named Jerry Kelley who also did "pointy people" art?

I don't have the game, but if they ever make that glass, put me down for one!

Someone should do an R-rated glass of Ballys Aladdins Castle too! Ah yes. A Beautiful Genie exposed! Yumm!
Love that backglass!
Ken
Oh gosh, this is just awful! Checked ipdb for Jerry Kelley, and he too does pointy people. This is one of the very worst. Could be in the running to unseat "Galahad"!

Well, the Minizag Backglass looks pretty cool to me! The Girls look pointy, I mean pretty hot!
Galahad is still the worst. Looks like a 5 year old with a paint brush made it, then again I have seen some nice artwork from 5 year old kids.
