OK, so how close are BGresto's backglasses to repro silkscreen?

His website says "our new process starting March 2013 is nearly identical in “look” to silk screening".

    http://bgresto.com/

He has done Bally Dixieland & Rocket III before, so I'm looking into buying those from him (I doubt that they ever get done), and perhaps even Gottlieb's Hot Shot as well (although I think that will eventually get done as a true reproduction).

How good is your eye sight?

I am a bit of a stickler to detail, but I mainly want to make sure the lit areas took very close - this seems to be the hard part (the non-lit areas are easy to do).

For the ones I've bought, when installed in-game, they look fine.

On close inspection, it's usually clear that they were printed, rather than screened.

Either way, it's miles better than looking at a trashed backglass.

The only thing is that the wait time can be 3-6+ months, from what others have posted.

So the lit areas are just as bright?

    No. Not as bright

If you're asking about the masking, yes, it's in place.

I tend to find BGResto glasses a bit fuzzy around the edges of the artwork and not as crisp and clear as screened glasses. The backs are masked, but here again, I find BGResto glasses to be not as translucent making them a bit darker when lit than the originals.

With that said, you're only going to really notice the differences if you have a reproduction next to an original. If you don't have anything to compare it to, I'm sure you'll be pleased.

The biggest issue is communication and the looong wait. I'd suspect 97% of people that have ordered a BGResto glass post on here asking if they're still in business. You're not going to get any updates on anything. But 6-8 months later when you've given up hope...the package arrives.

Bgresto will ship you a finished backglass in 4-6 months, maybe less time if he has less orders in que.

This seller prints a digital film and mails it to you for you to install on your backglass. Scrape off your old artwork and adhere the film. Similar quality to BGresto, but ships within 1-2 weeks. Delivered pricing is supposed to be cheaper than bgresto, but that’s probably because there’s no glass for him to buy or high costs of shipping the glass.

I have an Astro that I got from him about 2 years ago. The lit areas are darker, so I put comet 2SMD bulbs behind it and it looks great.

Yep, if you need it now don’t bother. After you’ve paid, you will think that he forgot about or misplaced your order. It will arrive, just about half a year later.
I am on the picky side as well and I think he does really nice work.

Yeah, I think he puts a blurb in communication about that and recommends LEDs to get a good lighting scenario. I've only ordered one glass, Grand Lizard Proto and was very happy with the quality. Wait time is the bummer. He's a one man operation.

The Hi-dolly is a bgresto backglass and the Sing along is original, it's the best reproduction not screen printed.

I’ve ordered 2 pieces of glass from him and my C37 came with one of his. I’ve been happy with them. Wait time is long so be ready. If it’s available from other sources as a silkscreen, order from there instead. He is a great resource if that isn’t the case.

BGresto is a great resource for this hobby, but if you have other options I would go that route first. BGresto would be a last resort in my opinion jsut because of how they light up and some colors can be off.

Like I said, it’s great they exist especially for older or rarer titles.

Best to order when your project is just a twinkle in your eye. The wait time is epic, but if no one else is doing a rare backglass, BGresto is probably your only option.

Has anyone tried the new acrylic ones from these guys?

    Any feedback?

    Never heard of them.

Here’s what I don’t like at first glance. You order and pay for your glass THEN they invoice you for shipping and insurance. I can’t think of anyone else who does this.

I looked at their art for Pit Stop. Looks to just be a photo with parts of the image out of focus.

I've got two from Coos -- delivered promptly and they look good.

Honestly the glasses I have from him are basically a translight adhered to the glass. My eightball one is delaminating.

All four times I've gotten a glass from him I've waited triple the suggested time, and had to PayPal claim his ass after being months late to get him to send it, which he does the next day.

I'd go another route if optional.

This is the comparison I did several years ago with two of the same game side by side.

Yes, the BGrestro did not *pop* like the oem.

Some of their NOS and used glasses cost the same as a whole game. Yikes.
