I don't hesitate to power down an abandoned machine to start a new game. What is the potential issue, wearing out the on/off switch?
Quoted from viper001:Waiting for impolite people to decide to suddenly be polite is a hopeless idea. The only thing to remedy this problem is rules by the organizers to stop it, and then some system in place to enforce said rules. If you look at most of the shows there actually will be a sign on the wall pertaining to this situation but we all know the types of folks that do this don't care about a friendly suggestion on a sign, they have to be threatened with something that they care about. Expulsion from the show is really about the only thing you can do.
I'll bet the majority of the impoliteness is not intentional. Especially the kids, sometimes even their parents don't know. I even stood by an older guy and talked with him, he said "I just saw a sign about this out front and stopped in, been a little stir crazy from the cold winter weather if you know what I mean." Apparently he had started a four player game unintentionally, and didn't have the foggiest idea about what the backbox was displaying.
I also had folks (perhaps the owner of the machine?, I dunno) come up and start pointing at things right on the glass, in the middle of my play.
There will be some folks just not giving a crap about etiquette but remember a lot of these folks at the shows have no clue about any of our expectations. If you think you can post a sign, or even give the public a lecture out front before they begin to play about our pinball rules of etiquette and expect them followed you are dreaming.
I don't think anyone did. The price was too high for us to snag it, even though my son would've loved it.
Quoted from Skypilot:I was fortunate to pick up a nice project EATPM and a PAPA playfield for it.
That's the playfield you were so eager to get!?

That Papa PF would be a good candidate to "name that PF " in a contest.

I had to wash my hands after looking at that pf - I didn't want to get too close
some good deals on machines were surely there, I enjoyed the saltwater projects, ripleys sopranos and tspp, really tempted to take on a project like that.
I second the restored road show as one of the nicest machines there.
shes a beaut clark!

LMAO, I am feeling a little queezy
Do you mind if I ask what you paid for that?
I would love to get my hand on a project like that. And I'm in PGH too!
My son wanted me to buy that for him in the worst way. I told him there wasn't a for sale sign on it so it must not be for sale.
In fairness that water cooler is NOT used or even in area to be used.. Its on a wall which is in a booth ... This year the restrooms were well kept and always had paper in them as well

Bathrooms were in the best shape since I've been going - thanks for the effort
Quoted from LEE:A buddy of mine put together this unique Simon game made out of a Tri-Zone and his own custom boards.
It was pretty challenging to play, and fun too.
I don't think that anyone beat my high score of almost 66K advancing up to level 6.
Thanks for posting all of the pictures, Lee! I think I got just under 30k and level 4 on Simon. Never would have figured it out without Chris's help.
Had a great time playing El Dorado. That thing was beautiful!

Quoted from bub2010:When did it flood?
2004. "Every pinball machine was submerged at least up to the backglass, and every surface within five feet of the ground, including playfields and inside cabinets, was coated in the floodwater sludge. The sludge was a sanitary hazard and immediately destroyed materials such as electronics, press board, and playfield artwork. [...] Two hundred and thirty-two pinball machines were destroyed..."
Quoted from mot:A buddy of mine put together this unique Simon game made out of a Tri-Zone and his own custom boards.
When Chris showed me Simon, he explained how Tri-Zone was a good candidate because the normal rules aren't particularly exciting, and it's got four drop targets on the lower half of the playfield. Some of those drops are pretty hard to hit, so it's definitely an exercise in ball control.
I think an even better candidate would be Bally "Spectrum". I know this is a rare game, but the layout of the drop targets makes them all very easy to hit. Of course, this would become less of an exercise in ball control and more of a memory exercise, but that's what Simon's all about! Additionally, it could be pretty well implemented without redoing any of the art, which I guess means you wouldn't have to destroy a rare game.
I guess it might be up to me to get a Spectrum and learn how to do it!

The original project was a complete game, even coined up 1600
The Playfield was a total separate purchase at 400. I practically had to beg that kid Andy to sell it to me . Its completely populated.
Just need to make sure I am up to date on mt Tetnus shot.
Wow.. that whole PAPA flood thing is sad... I was there this past fall and it was awesome. From the look of it I swear it is bigger and better than before.
Quoted from mikepin:In fairness that water cooler is NOT used or even in area to be used.. Its on a wall which is in a booth ... This year the restrooms were well kept and always had paper in them as well
This year the restrooms were better. The floor was damp, but didn't have an inch of liquid on it like last year. There was toilet paper, but both paper towel dispensers were completely empty on Saturday.
I would like to know peoples thoughts on the saltwater sandy projects there.
tspp left on friday, not sure if sopranos or ripleys sold but looked interesting at a 1000 a piece and somewhat complete minus some boards..
for those who were not there, guy had some of the jersey shore games ruined by saltwater,
think it was a good buy?
The TSSP sold for 800. A little WD40 and it should be good to go.
The guy that owned them(not the guy selling them) lost a whole building full of games to Sandy. The whole building was gone.
Quoted from Gnatty:This was by far the nicest machine at the show. I'm glad I got a bunch of games on it. Your work is amazing!

Yes, thanks much, only played once, got 2.1 billion (MTK) which was top score at the time. a Beaut!
Thanks for sharing the pictures LEE. That guy playing the Revenge from Mars looks cool. He would have said hello had he known you were taking a picture.

I brought that Revenge from Mars, and it was sold before I even got it out of my car!
