Love my STTNG and have owned it for years, but just like some pins in my collection, it may sit for a few months before getting played again.
Fired it up last night, ready for some Picard maneuvering, and got the "memory reset" notification on my DMD.. I immediately suspected that the batteries had died, and when I got the translite off this is what I found:
Every January, I change the batteries out in all of my Bally/WIlliams games, so I was VERY surprised to find this. I pulled the batteries out before taking the pics, but they were Duracell copper top.
So to all of you that think that you are safe with not changing your batteries out every year, you've been warned. I personally would have never believed it until it happened to me. Perhaps there's something on this game that has drawn more power from the batteries than others, causing them to go dead quicker and leak…. I guess I'll never know.
Thinking of going to Lithiums, anyone know if they are less prone to leaking? (I know they will last longer).
