Have a Tron Pro... and loving it.
Slowly modding it.
Most inserts LED'd, chrome flippers w/ blue rubber, Flynn sign, arcade mod v3, apron cards, cycle silhouettes for speakers.. Have a set of cycles to mount next .
Also have a PIG2 on order .

OK... what is "Lamp"? I must have missed that reference .

Stern & Disney are gonna sue you for corporate sponsorship infringment laws, with that many Encom logos.
Dillinger Jr owes you some kick-back money for promoting the company his father founded.

I am hoping no ramps need to be removed to install the LED's?

Nope... no ramps are touched for LED's.

Thought this pic turned out kinda cool...

Actually to match the rails Im getting painted...but yeah the mirror blades too
I think if you have a TRON LE with chrome rails the chrome bumper tops are a no brainer!
Oh man, Im so close to being done with modding this pro, Im going to load 37 pics that day!

This past week, I installed blue coin-reject buttons, blue Start button, PIG2 and my own version of custom speaker LED lighting.
Ripped the ramps off last night in prep to do: lightcycles, ELI's ramp lighting, and also removed the disc to install clear rubber. And while I'm at it, pulled the Recognizer to light that up too.

For the coin-reject buttons... did some custom-inserts from the adult photoshoot. They're so small, and too dark behind the blue plastic, you'd never know they were there. But I do.

I may eventually re-do on better media... this was just two layers of normal paper. (one piece of paper, gives no contrast when back-lit)
Might do one Quora, one Gem.

Quoted from dkpinball:

Guys, for those of you who have a Flynn's sign but didn't want to invest a lot of time and money into a PIG 2 to make it turn on and off with the GI, check out this thread:
http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/open-source-freeish-pinball-electronics-kit-gi-buddy
Basically some time, a little money ($10-$15), some soldering, and you can have the Flynn's sign interact with the game. We also tested with it connected to the Flynn's Arcade insert on a TRON LE and it worked great. I'm not sure how it would work out on a Pro but it might be worth the time to find out.

Finally finished wiring up my PIG2 and FTS-8 splitter for my various mods last night.
But I'm looking at maybe doing one of your GI helpers, and moving Flynn to it.
Currently:
PIG out1 = Flynn
PIG out2 = Clu cycle
PIG out3 = Sam cycle
PIG out4 = Recognizer
PIG passthru >> 8-way splitter >> speaker inserts & flipper LEDs

Although, I've just started messing with the config file, so might just use the AUX on PIG later. But eventually might add a topper, so might need control for that.

But then... if Eli ever impliments the "cycle" jacks on the ramp lighting moduals... that'll open up the PIG for more as well.
(This stuff is all just so cool to play with.)

I would never sell my Tron Pro.

But... I would do Option 2 - except I would go Met Pro & an AC/DC instead of ST.
I don't even like either Metalica or AC/DC, and am a Star Trek fan... but after playing ST several times, I found it un-exciting. AC/DC is a better game IMO.

Of course... I already have a STTNG, so basically already have the best of both worlds... Star Trek & Lamp (I mean Tron).

#1933 10 years ago

Voted... Tron all the way.

Have played ST several times and not really impressed. (big ST tv/movie/books fan, and already have STTNG, which is also way better than ST imo)

Its weird for me... I really like Avatar movie; can't stand the pin. Same with X-Men & Avengers... great flicks; unimpressive pins.
Don't like the band Metallica and could do without AC/DC's music... but really like both pins (better than the above ST, X-Men, Avengers & Avatar.

So while I'm mostly a theme-driven player... if they game ain't there... pass.

Quoted from nicoga3000:

Anyone have a quantity/count for how many Cliffy post protectors I should order?
E: And should I bother upgrading the DMD to a color or blue DMD? If so, which is considered the "better" choice?

EDIT: Doh! I just re-read your posting, and realized I responded wrong. LOL
I have not done new post sleeves on my Tron yet. (I will say, I just installed some of the new (expensive!) transperant super post sleeves from PBL on a High Roller Casino and I like the look.) (I will recommend polishing your post (lol) before installing the transparent sleeves; as you can see the post.)

Original response...
It depends on which run you end up with... For the ramps, I got my NIB from the last run (2 chicks) and I only needed the one right ramp (only 1 piece) protector, as it already had the left ramp protected from the factory.

Along with the scoop protector, plus the eject hole protector and ball drop protectors.
(my game also already had the shooter lane wall protector from the factory)

I will say, I've had the ball hang on the ball drop/switch protectors many times. Have tried repositioning & flipping direction... still does it. Ball just doesn't have the momentum sometimes to clear them when dropping off the right ramp. (general 6 degree incline). It's slightly annoying, but nothing that makes you loose the ball or anything.

On the flipside... I've never once had the ball hang going into the scoop. (Cliffy fixed that on later version; that I must have gotten I guess.)

Cliify makes great product, and a breeze to install. (just be carefull... easy to slice your fingers up)

Not sure on the DMD. Mine's stock. I'm toying with getting the Stern adapter for my ColorDMD that I have in my STTNG and seeing what it looks like in Tron, before I buy a new display.

Voted...

(and again, after playing WOZ several more times at MGC... I still have the same opinions from day-1 of ever playing it... weak-ass flipper-feel causing sluggish play & stupid theme for modern pinball (even if 90% of all new pinballs do end-up in private homes) (but, undoubtably one of the nicest looking machines ever made)

Tron forever!!!! (end-of-line)

Quoted from DaveH:

The game makes it a better movie. I always like to own the movie itself for any movie themed pins I own. It is fun to watch it later and find the exact context of all the callouts.

This got me to thinking... stupidly, could I associate a show/movie to all my machines???

Evel Knievel - still have my original EK stunt cycle toy & saw most of his TV broadcast stunts
Bally Eight Ball - watched Happy Days constantly (even saw the Love American Style pilot)
Night Rider - Steven Spielberg's "Dual" and big fan of the shows "Movin' On" & BJ and the Bear.
Playboy - have read many of the articles & watch the cable channel, to make sure the game is authentic
Bally Strikes and Spares - been on a few bowling leagues. Kingpin is hilarious.
Stargate - favorite TV & movie
STTNG - seen every episode & movie
DE Star Trek 25th - ditto... every episode & movie
HRC - been to Vegas many times.
Gorgar - hasn't everyone seen Legend with Tom Cruise!! ??
OXO - nope... I've played Tic-Tac-Toe, but closest movie I could think of is "Searching for Bobby Fischer".
Solar City - pretty sure this was a original Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon 1930's serial movie episode.
Mariner - ahhh... Jacqueline Bisset in "The Deep"... need I say more?
DE Time Machine - George Pal's 1960's classic, plus read the HG Well's book several times.
Tron - saw both in the theater when they came out. Still have it for Mattel Intellivision.
Firepower - hmmm... Syble Danning in "Battle Beyond the Stars" ??? (ok.. a stretch)
Bally Atlantis -- Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea - movie & TV
Black Sheep Squadron - big fan of the TV show... main reason I bought the pin.
Fireball (home edition) - ... I'm stumped on this one.
Aztec - Season 1 episode of Doctor Who
Checkpoint - Hal Needham's "Cannonball Run" or "Gumball Rally"

Quoted from centerflank:

Put some spray adhesive on and lock that fucker down tight.

Sorry... but I did the reverse.
The first clear I got, cleaned the original off best I could... used the 3M adhesive and the thing gave away in under 30 plays I bet.
2nd clear rubber... brand new plastic disc from PinballLife... no extra glue, and it's been fine (1/2 year later?).

So for me... jury's still out on to glue or not.

Granted... my game sees little use. (problem of having 20+ machines)
So the first disc failure may have been a fluke.

I will say... ever since the first failure... my motor is way noisier than it was originally. (and no, the rubber is on correct... tough to screw that up, since it sits in the recessed areas)

Quoted from zapp:

Does anyone know with what type of screw the recognizer is fixed to the plastic ? The previous owner has taken the recognizer off and has put some silly figures on the plastic which sits over the spinning disc. I have the regognizer but am missing the screws ..

If I remember correctly, the Recognizer is secured from below... like #4 flat-head small Phillips screws that screw up thru the bottom of the plastic, into the bottoms of the Recognizer feet. (careful not to over-tighten)

I posted some info and a tear-down a few years back. It might give you some insight to the operation/hook-up.

I just installed my new blue ones (didn’t realise there was another yellow part next to it!) and found the same issue.
The blue, especially the middle is super dark.
I fixed it with extra matrix leds I had spare

Yeah, the blue Happ's area really dark. I like your solution... will have to try that.
And yes, I never found a color matching coin-sizing plastic. I ended up removing the yellow's and spaying them completely black and re-installing.

Mine were dead when I bought the game. Thought that they out lived there life. So I to need to replace them. So if any one makes a plug and play set I’ll take one as well.

If you feel adventurous... I started this thread years ago (but never went any farther yet; as my originals still work fine).

Quoted from Ashram56:

So no one has a readable copy of Tron manual...
Anyone would have the possibility to scan the layout with references of all playfield parts (especially metal posts) as an alternative? My posts are slightly corroded, and I'd like to replace them with new and shiny posts.
Thanks

Even NIB Tron Pro came with the crappy photocopy manual. (Hell... photocopy would be better... these manuals are more like a early '90s fax)
And I believe the Tron LE was the same as well.
To my knowledge, there was never a color digital copy for Tron, like there was for older (and newer) Sterns.

I just got mine TRON one week ago and I see that people here got a Tron Flynn's Arcade scoop protector, my playfield has some wear and tear and it looks like this would cover it Where Can I find this?
Kind regards

From Cliff... note, he's extremely back-logged last I heard.
