Quoted from centerflank:

Dave, I have one spare clear disc, I can send it out to you but I'd need it replaced in the near future. Let me know..... You can put your game back together, just need to pull that motor assembly out from the bottom of the Pf, easy stuff

Centerflank, thanks a bunch for the offer! But I just looked at the mechs there. I had though it all needed to come apart again to do it, but it's a few screws and lights from the bottom. So I'll just order it up and toss it in that way when it gets here. Seriously cool gesture.

And my game looks so much better already. Just getting that first layer of crud off it. I had a really fine dust covering the ramps, so the game really looked crappy. This is a badly needed shop job.

#3752 8 years ago

Once you replace with the clear spinning disc you will be amazed at how much less dirt gets on the playfield - best upgrade for the machine IMHO!

#3753 8 years ago

Why does no one in the US carry the clear disks?

#3754 8 years ago
Quoted from Billy16:

Why does no one in the US carry the clear disks?

Only known carrier is that dick Quartergrabber got his from.

#3756 8 years ago
Quoted from Gov:

Does that dick have anymore?

Just the one, Ill sell it to you.....

I need to order from those guys again anyway, I need a bunch of clear flipper bat rubbers for the repopulation of my collection and some smaller clear ring sizes.

Im going to order a bunch of disc pads so if someone needs one in the future, hit me up.

#3757 8 years ago

Just ordered 10 more so I will have some sooner than later....

#3758 8 years ago

Also, anyone looking to install this, check your disc.....mine was cracked into 3 parts when I went to swap it out.

PBL used to carry them, didn't see it on the site last time I looked though, maybe Marco's has them....

#3759 8 years ago

You can probably make 20 of these things from a $20 sheet of silicon. Can't be that difficult to cut 2 circles right?

#3760 8 years ago
Quoted from mcluvin:

Go for it! Let us know how it turns out.

#3761 8 years ago

I really haven't modded my Tron all that much. LED's, cliffy protectors, arcade mod.....etc. I really should get the clear disc. I might hit you up when you get those in Centerflank. I'm considering the Eli mod as well..... but I want to make sure I have enough cash for the Game of Thrones premium (assuming it's good).

Always something to look forward to lately....

#3762 8 years ago

Ill post in the thread when I get them, I have to figure out price as they add some odd VAT fee and I think last time my pay process added some stupid international fee, I think I used a method that I get no charge for that this time.

Also, its been brought up whether or not to use spray adhesive to the disc pad (it does come with some sticky but Id be leary of it going alone)

My wife is a scrapbooker and has Helmar Vellum V2 spray adhesive, she is actually a distributor for them so if anyone needs a can I can help out with that too.

#3763 8 years ago

My wife is a scrapbooker too. Must be a fluke.......

#3766 8 years ago

CF, you got me to thinking...

If I come back around again, in my next life I'm gonna be Dick Carrier, porno star.

I think there was a thread somewhere about this.....

You don't pay VAT....you're not in a VAT country. Yet.

#3769 8 years ago
Quoted from Frax:

What is it? Something gets added on in the checkout section...

Hey, you got a blue disc didn't you? Same grip as the clear?

#3770 8 years ago

Ah.....
-----------

A value-added tax (VAT) or also General Sales tax (GST) is a form of consumption tax. From the perspective of the buyer, it is a tax on the purchase price. From that of the seller, it is a tax only on the value added to a product, material, or service, from an accounting point of view, by this stage of its manufacture or distribution. The manufacturer remits to the government the difference between these two amounts, and retains the rest for themselves to offset the taxes they had previously paid on the inputs.

The purpose of VAT is to provide an incentive for production of goods and growing of businesses and to generate revenues to the government from the rendering of services.

The value added to a product by or with a business is the sale price charged to its customer, minus the cost of materials and other taxable inputs. A VAT is like a sales tax in that ultimately only the end consumer is taxed. It differs from the sales tax in that, with the latter, the tax is collected and remitted to the government only once, at the point of purchase by the end consumer. With the VAT, collections, remittances to the government, and credits for taxes already paid occur each time a business in the supply chain purchases products.

-----------

The add on must be just the tax in general maybe not specifically VAT

Already changing and adding stuff... I wasn't a fan of the color changers in the GI so I just changed most of everything back to white for now. I also added a ColorDMD and put the CLU translite in

Quoted from swinks:

here is my interpretation of the identity disc in a plunger knob, you could print in the polished grey steel and then paint a light aqua blue in the grooves to get that classic similar look. The knob is 1 1/2 inches at the maximum diameter.

Looks awesome Jady! Any chance you could move the outer ring closer to the edge?

yeah I could but it will be the tapered edge, I will do another version

how about this one, reduced the outer dia by 1mm and changed a few angles and moved the centre and outer rings out a bit.

Where can I order this from? I want to give you my money!!!

#3781 8 years ago
Quoted from bjorg:

You can order direct from Shapeways, in the colour metal you would like from here - grey metal would probably be best for the Tron one, and there are others there as well for other games.
https://www.shapeways.com/search?q=swinksshooter

then you can get a blank shooter rod from Pinballlife
http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=1608

then check the length of the rod to your Stern rod and then use some epoxy glue to join it together - in which I got a cardboard box and put a hole in the top with a pen and the slide the glued rod assembly into the box hole to keep it vertical and the knob centred.

as for painting, brush in and wipe excess off.

for me to make them I would purchase and post to Aus and then back to you adding $30-40 for postage and time to glue and paint and just not worth it. Easy as a little do it yourself mod.

#3782 8 years ago

looks like I probably tore my ACL last night, so I'm not going to be answering any questions about the blue disc for a long time.

Bummer! Hope you heal up quick.

#3784 8 years ago

/shrug.

Who knows...my kid tore his a while back. Right now I just want to get out of work (desk job, thankfully) and get home. Amazon Now is going to deliver me some crutches tonight, so I can move around like a normal human for a few days. Only upside here is that my off days are tuesdays and wednesdays, so I'll be able to get in contact with an orthopedist or go to an urgent care place sometime in the next 72 hours.

#3785 8 years ago

A possible BEWARE of Ebay seller Flashymods. I tried to buy a $40 Recognizer mod back on June 29th. It was to be delivered on July 5-8. I waited and never got a tracking number or information about it. I sent "Mark" 2 emails asking what was going on. He sent me back an annoyed PM saying he was on vacation ect ect. I said fine Ill wait. I waited a few more days and he sent me another nicer PM asking if I wanted Blue or Red. I sent back a pleasant reply asking if he was a pinball enthusiast and if he was on PS and if he had pictures of how the blue looked vs. the red. NOTHING. 2 more weeks and 3 more PM's from me and nothing. I paid the $40+shipping immediately and its been 22 days for a simple drop it in the mail kinda transaction. Just letting others out there don't bother buying from Flashymods as "Mark" isn't interested in selling anything to you. On a Side note. does anyone know were to buy the recognizer light mod or where the best one is to be found. I don't want to build my own for $5.00. I just want an easy plug and play Mod I am tired of DYI activities and would rather be on my boat this summer than in my garage.

No Kim is NOT awesome. I bought that mod from Kim and I had nothing but problems. DO NOT BuY FROM KIM!!!! If you think you had problems with this mark guy you will have more problems with Kim. My mod came in pieces and a big gap down the middle. I emailed Kim and he basically said it wasn't his problem, it happened in the mail and I should contact USPS. What an ass! I'm sure his fans will chime in and say how well their transactions went but I'm also sure their mods came in one piece and unharmed. How many of these fans of Kim had to deal with his horrible customer service if a mod came broken. I garantee none. Once again, do not buy from kimballs pinballs.

#3790 8 years ago

Ouch! Pinball Decals has them too at a typical Pinball Decals price http://www.pinballdecals.com/PartsByGamePages/Tron_Page.html

#3791 8 years ago

So QuaterGrabber. where do you suggest?? My problem with Mark is he didn't either have the Mod or he was not willing to ship it even though I paid for it a month ago. I understand sh!t happens, hell I've drug my feet on sending out parts for free to people, but I am not a working parts business. He has a name "Flashymods" but is not willing to sell stuff even though he has open auctions and was willing to take my money. I just want the Mod I don't care whom from. I would also like to know why Kims is $70 more expensive when they look to be the exact same thing?

I know you don't like DIY but what about in between DIY and pre-made? Honestly if I was to do it again, I would buy one of these 3 SMD pre-wired strips in Orange or red for $2.95

http://www.cometpinball.com/6-3-V-Plug-Play-Strips-Comet-Pinball-p/6.3vsmdstrips.htm

And just pop apart my current RECOGNIZER and stick it in. I mean all the wiring is already done for you all you have to do is take 2 minutes and place it in your Recognizer, so simple. You can have the mod for $2.95.

#3793 8 years ago

I got my Recognizer and Light Cycle mods from Flashy. Turnaround time was quick -- I did have a problem with the cycles not lighting up but he was quick to fix the issue and take care of everything. This was a few months ago and the mods are still working great.

Just my experience, FYI. He's MrDo here on Pinside if you want to try contacting him here.

#3794 8 years ago

I have the Tron Pro model. Where would i plug it into? Does the Pro model recognizer come apart easy without breaking? With this kit is it just on all the time vs. other kits that it comes on and off only when recognizer is activated. I would kinda like it flash every time you hit the 3 bank, then when its active it come on, then when mode over go off and repeat. SO that the Recognizer is more interactive.

I asked him if he was here on pinside and got no response. I also see that others this month are having same issue with him. Maybe he got sick or has some family issues taking place. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt on that, as it would explain lack of communication. He had a 100% feed back rating on ebay up till the last few weeks when he hasn't been communicating with people. I hope he is alright.

It depends were you connect it/clip it to under the playfield. As far as I know non of the pre-made Recognizer kits for the pro operate the way you want it to. They all just stay on all the time. If you want it to turn on and off at certain points you will have to hook any of the kits up to a pig2 system.

Great info, maybe this is all just a blessing in disguise. I will look into this....also KV3 I have Pm'd Mr.Do with my thoughts and concerns. Thanks for the heads up.

#3798 8 years ago

Just to wrap the Flashymod saga up. He did get back to me here on PS and we worked it out, he refunded the money and is pulling his auctions for now due to a matter he needs to attend to. I appreciate the help and hope all is well for MrDo/FlashyMods and that he gets things turned around. No hard feelings on my end Sh!T HAPPENS. Thanks to everyone else whom has mad suggestions as to alternatives and I may try building my own via that pig2 sytem.

#3799 8 years ago

I have the Eli Ramp mod, isnt' there a way to hook up the Recognizer into that to make it flash. Does anyone out there have a Recognizer that does more than shine 24/7? Here is what I want it to do.
