I am a very proud new owner of a great huo heavily modded Tron. I’ll post pics later in the week! So, the cliffy sets come with 3 protectors, my Tron has cliffys on the ramps except for the left ramp on the far left. Does anybody know if this kit has one of the cliffys to protect that far left ramp side?

Anyone know where I could get an extra set of ramps and just the tubing for the Eli's kit?

Quoted from Spyk:

Tubing is generic and easy to find. You'll just need to measure yours. I swapped my LE ones with clear.

It is like this but I don't recall the size. You'll have to measure the size of your light box and order that size.

https://www.amazon.com/Solid-Fiber-Optic-Indoor-Application/dp/B071FW1LRG/ref=mp_s_a_1_15

For ramps, we may need a vault edition as I don't think any vendors have them both.

#8709 5 years ago

Ramps sadly appear to be unobtainium now. Don't know if/when they were discontinued but the usual suspects haven't had any stock for a while. Marco sold the last LE one they had recently.

Wonder if there's any mileage in speaking to Stern directly?

#8710 5 years ago

Thanks guys. I made a newb problem and over tightened a ramp. It has a not so visable unless you look for it crack. Luckily it didn't crack through. I'd like to redo the tubes though. They have a few hot spots. I am determined to learn this stuff though so I would rather diy. Just ordered a full chrome set though for railing and all the other black stuff. I'll just keep an eye out for the front most ramp.

#8711 5 years ago

Where did you crack it? Was it under the metal flap at the entrance or on the walls? You can use CA glue to re-adhere plastic pretty well. If it's cracked you'll want to do something to at least try and keep it from spreading so at min I would either do the above or mylar that area to help hold it all together.

Replacing the light tubes is a very doable DIY process and serves for a great time to shop the game since you have to remove the ramps anyways to do it efficiently. Just make sure you have a bag of small clear zip ties (a pack of 50) and, if you don't already have some, heat shrink tube that is just a smidgen bigger than the light tube. Use it to cover the tube that is under the PF which will help a lot with light bleed.

I’ve got 2 of each ramp in my personal backstock. Though I don’t think anyone needs to go hollering me down for a set.

I got a hold of Stern to ask about the availability of each the Pro and LE ramps. In October there were none for the Pro, but they had both for the LE. I ordered one of each. Well, 1 didn’t show. So I followed up with the Stern Distributor with whom I’d ordered through. They said that 1 ramp was on back order, though I’d just days earlier confirmed stock of each. 2 months went by, and my ramp finally showed up.

The ramp that came late, presumably after being run again, came with a stainless steel flap, instead of the blue steel flap like the other ramp I’d ordered.

I’ve been thinking that a Vault would have the lit ramps - not that current part stock is any firm indication of such, it sure seems plausible.

Part #s:
510-5133-01
510-5134-01

I ordered through Cointaker.

So very excited. My chrome will be here for my Tron tomorrow!!! Coinbox and all. Did have a question related to a small minor touch up issue. Call it OCD. What would be the best way to take care if these corners. Little bit of paint (if so what color)? Any recommendations?

For corners that don't wrap I use black.

Thanks again guys. I figured as much but wasn't sure.

Quoted from Spyk:

I’d tape off the area with blue painters tape... take a paper plate and black satin Krylon outside and spray a generous amount on the paper plate to create a small pool of paint... use an artists brush or fine tip sponge brush and artistically paint the wood, repeat as necessary ... let dry for 5 minutes and remove blue tape

Chrome pieces came in. Had time to do the coin box last night.

All chrome including the coin door is going to look great! I had a creature done in all dark purple, I had to pay a bit more, but having the coin door done too really set the machine off! You don’t see too many Trons with the door done too!

Very nice people. They messed up a little on my order but responded in less than an hour via email. Just forgot to send me one thing and sent the wrong lock bar but they are fixing everything asap.

Awesome and good to know their customer service is spot on.

I’m considering sending some pinball parts to them, obviously at a bit of a cost shipping from the U.K. and back again so I’m glad to see this is their work as it looks flawless and smooth/even.

I've never seen my face so clear and undistorted in anything. Even a mirror. It's very well done.

I finally pulled the trigger last week on a beautiful modded huo Tron pro! I’ve been wanting one for several years and finally made it happen! Here’s the list of mods, blue led back strip, plastic protectors, Tron figures, full leds, Eli ramp mod, lighted Flynn sign, arcade mod, lighted light cycles, lighted recognizer, flipper fidelity speakers and sub, 3D translite, mirror blades, shaker motor, and one of my favorites the led auto dimming back box! The only mod I feel like my game still needs is a color dmd. Here’s some pics!

Ok so slow goings but it's getting better and better. Having an issue with the hinges. It looks like they previous owner may have glued the mirror blades in. Is there some secret way to get these hinges off without having to take these blades out it does anyone know a good way to take these blades out? Maybe something I'm missing.

Glued on mirror blades?? Ouch....are you sure that there aren't any small screws on the bottom of the blades holding them in place?? If they are glued it may be some two sided tape, but that would get so thick that I don't see how it would fit between the playfield....

Usually the blades do have to come off to take the hinge bolts & nuts off.....What kind of hinge trouble are you having??

I'm guessing glued. The holes have nothing in them on the bottom. Unless you guys know another method? If not does anyone know any safe way to remove them?

I had black mirror blades on my Tron originally. No screws, but very very stick double sided tape.

Depending how long they have been on the game, could feel like they are glued down. If you try to remove them, use a very thin blades (petty knife, exacto, etc.) And it should pry, but be careful, as they will likely bend in the process

I took mine off to powder coat stuff and ended up getting new blades after the fact

More than likely just strong double sided tape. Get a thin bladed spackling knife/blade... like a 6” wide one... just try working it between the blade and the cabinet and see if you get any give while knifing it in. I just finished replacing a set today where the prior owner used heavy duty tape. Slow and steady... no damage to anything and didn’t even need heat.

#8734 5 years ago

Double sided tape or glue residue. Either way exacto knife lead me to the idea of a wide flat dry wall scraper and that did the trick no damage. Love you guys haha. I say it allot but this is such a great place.

Definitely doublesided tape, looks like this stuff:

Much better now. Mirror blades in tact. Just got to reinstall but I saw some other cool mirror blades that had some Tron stuff etched out. Wondering if that would look better.

No way, yours as it is looks stunning and very fitting of the theme, chrome and black chrome looks amazing on Tron.

Very cool I will reattach these ones. Wife likes it better too. Double sided tape method didn't seem to do any damage to the cab. Is this method best?

Inner cabinet mirror blades are fine with thin double sided tape.

I wish @pingraffix would make some powerblades for TRON with animated light cycles, Portal and Grid landscape with clouds and lightening.

#8741 5 years ago
Quoted from Spyk:

This stuff would work well then?

In a pinch yes, as it is very thin with good holding power. Screws would be my first choice, as they allow easy removal.

#8742 5 years ago

Mine are held in by tiny screws, work well and when the playfield is down you can’t see them. Easy removal

#8743 5 years ago

Ok I'll go with that. There are holes for it. Thanks.

If I remember right they are stainless #4 1/2" buglehead screws

I just finished ripping out a set because it was installed with double sided tape. Unless it's cellophane tape thick... don't do it. Even the stuff that is only 1-2mm thick will cause you grief later.

They make double sided tape that is only as thick as regular tape, I'd use that if you just need to hold it against the cabinet in small amounts. The right sized screws in the bottom of the blades hold it fine.

Edit: see you said 'thin' - yes, stress thin

Still looking around. Marcos seem to have it up still for reference only for the one ramp I need. Didn't see them on coin taker. Contacted stern a few days ago but haven't heard anything. If anyone could keep an ear out for be I would greatly appreciate it. 510-5134-01 is specifically the one I'm looking for. Defiantly the le version.
