Last night I gave TRON a double wax and removed the disc mech and cleaned meticulously, novus 2'd the balls which are quite new ooh shiny's....plays so fast and sweet. First game tonight I had SOS lit and only gem and disc multi needed to finish to advance to portal....didnt hit the scoop, no SOS for me but had 89mill, could have been epic!

I freaking LOVE this game, simple rules and just fast paced pin action, I believe my heart rate may have exceeded 100bpm, I should wear my heart monitor next time...Declare your love for TRON!

Tron rules. I had SOS ready to go tonight as well and drained off freaking disc multiball . . . only 45 mill points but I could have had it rocking too. Did take back my GC score on my DW from fellow Pinsider Jodster tonight . . . so I'm pleased with the evening of pinball action.

I lurrrve it!!! Especially with the added subwoofer!!! OMG!!! Better meaning to any pinball - lol! Didn't I kick you ass last night in tron, centerflank???

The 3 Jack&cokes I had while cleaning it slowed my reflexes I seem to remember the score at 23.3mill against my 22.8mill...I wouldnt call that an ass kicking...my lawyer may have to chime in on this for clarification.

#5 10 years ago

and where is that lawyer??? hmmmm.... shady! I still won

#6 10 years ago

and that was with a few vodkas in me!!!

#7 10 years ago

I'm also a huge Tron fan, no other game has got my heart racing so fast...my buddy owns the LE and I hope to snag it from him someday

#8 10 years ago

I like how you threw the "centerflank is super smart" into the poll option

Sorry Centerflank, your machine leads and retainer only get you so far . . . I could never take your side against Trophy . . . extraordinarily beautiful women that play pinball always win.

Tron is a great game. MUCH better than ACDC by a metal mile.

#11 10 years ago

Tron is the bees knees, the cats pajamas, you know what a I mean? I dig.

Game is amazing. I put an hour into it today while I totally neglected my kids and wife who were trying to spoil me for Father's Day.

#12 10 years ago

I wonder if there is some sort of resin you could coat the spinning disc with, something like spar urethane to keep the rubber from eating away and stay really "tacky" to grip the ball to add the wicked.

#13 10 years ago
Quoted from TigerLaw:

Sorry Centerflank

You just damn near earned your first thumbs down from me ever.

edit- but, I gave thumbs up as I do truly enjoy beautiful pin loving lassies...

Pfft. That's okay center I will defend you. Tiger mostly delegates these days anyway.

#16 10 years ago

Tron is a different decade HS, not super complicated or deep, but never gets old. It's almost EM style with tasks so simple it amazes you how hard it is.

That's okay; kel heard me laughing and surfed over to pinside to see why . . . I'm in the doghouse now anyway as my penance for my brief treachery.

#18 10 years ago

Pfft.

LOL! Tiger got the Pfft! Boom!

Yes, when the queen gives the pfft that is not usually a good sign. Also, she has the master weapons and she knows it.

Centerflank, this is an excellent thread and one that I needed to read. I am brand new (3 months or so) and I need strategy. I have both Tron Pro and ACDC Premium. My wife is always wanting to play ACDC and I always start with Tron. I have tried to develop a strategy with Tron and attempted to find others that have strategy but can't find the 'roadmap' to success.

Currently my 'beginner' strategy is start with getting Flynn to flash... and then to find the target to shoot for and make Flynn stay lit. Then I hit the recognizer 3 times to lower the target bank and go for the disc spinner 7 times to start multiball.... then I start to have more fun... BUT.. I really need a 'Strategy Book' or something to help me along. Kind of like when you buy a Nintendo game you can also buy a 'Strategy Book' that will help you along with mastering the game.

You seem to be the most perfect person to write such a book. Please share you knowledge with us.

I will look so forward to coming home from work tomorrow to see what you wrote.

Most excellent thread. Thank you from someone that 's new and thinks that this pinside thing is absolutely fantastic.

Thats very flattering but my pinball enthusiasm is WAY above my actual skill level.

1) I never worry about flynn being lit or completed, 99% of the games I play that mode is completed without actually attempting to shoot for it.

2)I do try to start ZUSE after I have Clu and Light Cycle multi ball lit in the Arcade scoop, then hit the scoop to start those 2 modes, then onto phase 3....

3)my basic strategy is shoot for Quorra spinner when right flipper is fed, recognizer/disc multi when left flipper is fed

4) Gem is the tough one to get, Ive gotten better at deflecting off TRON targets into gem and its a much easier shot when the 3recognizer targets are down

Hope that helps a little Geremy, check these threads out if you enjoy TRON.

This is one reason why the pro is better than the LE. The bank shot is not available on the LE. I've had to harness my skill at plunging for GEM . . . also not easy but with practice and decent nudging you can get it about 50% of the time (maybe a little less).

Oops, sorry buddy, pinside seemed a little slow so I thought Id start a fun thread....by the way I think Im going o need some more custom pin gulps, I love those things!

It is only TMI if you say something like that is how long it takes her to recover. Ha!

I was just thinking about that, I like the standard targets, I wouldnt mind my THOR targets on HULK to not be drops.

Yeah hitting gem off the plunge, slightly risky especially since we get many drains from the ball coming out the castor spinner lane. I stick to going for the skill shot off the plunge.

I also disabled that pop up post that activates when you plunge. WTF were they thinking on that?

Edit- OT just popped on LOTR as I havent played it in a long time, had that punk gollum hanging off the cliff and Drained. ARGH!!! I did get 2 SUUUPER JACKPOT gimli callouts as I completed 2towers multi!

#29 10 years ago

Just teasing Flank......working on a bunch of new designs

#30 10 years ago

Just hold down left flipper on plunge and it will leave the post down.

Quoted from centerflank:

Thanks for the added info.... OK... so I have learned that I can hit the arcade scoop without issue but don't know when the Light Cycle multi ball occurs... it just does. Also,, chasing Clu seems to be very difficult... I must be missing something. ZUSE I think means hitting the letters on the targets.

All help appreciated. Thank you.

#32 10 years ago

I prefer not to even pay attention to zuse unless only one of them is unlit and then I go for it. Otherwise I'd rather not risk the drain and just deal with it in the sea of simulation where it matters.

#33 10 years ago
Quoted from ChadH:

Right, but I never want it to activate, EVER! Because I normally drink fairly heavily while playing and I forget to do that.

I like it ah-lot but dunno if I can commit to you being super smaht.

I love this game. The music is awesome, the light show is great, it's undeniably the best game ever as far as mods are concerned, and the gameplay is a total blast. It's right up there with Monster Bash and Medieval Madness for me.

I totally agree with MB and Tron being the best games to date.
I also think the stop post is a stupid idea.. Even if you can hold the left flipper to let the ball go around the outer lane.. Its pointless being there.

#42 10 years ago

only haters will say TRON is a poor game... (and do they really think it is ?)

to me, i'm still aiming to fully finish PORTAL, which i think it's something you have no 100% real control on it (must have a part of luck to complete all that shots) ... or i'm just so bad !?

last good game was few days ago, at 196M, and no "name entry" as my son got 5 better scores than that ! lol

When I first got Tron I made up a spreadsheet to help me know what is going on. I was off on a couple of items which were explained in the following thread. I hope this helps:

Thank you Darin,,,, This is going to be very helpful. I am going to print it out, laminate it, then make a recording of all of the rules that you have discovered, then burn it to CD and play it at night when I go to sleep, then hide it and explain to everyone for the next month ' This is my first time playing the game!! '

Tron blows. I picked my avatar because it looks cool. I bought a Tron LE cuz it looks cool. That's where it ends.
