Quoted from LOTR_breath:I'm a super Elwin fan. Been that way since before he even started working for Stern. But I've yet to own an Elwin pin. Godzilla may be the first for me, but I'd have to sell a pin and I don't think I can do it. I don't know, maybe Tommy? Shit, I'm just getting out of the honeymoon phase with Zep premium. I may just have to wait for a Zilla premium second hand down the road. The game looks like Elwins best to date and maybe even Sterns best ever.
Elvira holds that title so far for best stern. But hopefully will get to play Godzilla soon. Just can’t justify the $8899 price tag for a premium. Will buy used at some point.
The pro looks like a home pin version when compared to the premium/LE. It’s so stripped down and not worth the price at all.
Quoted from jawjaw:True but it is Stern's job to protect their assets. Stern and licensors are not going to be happy if all their games show up on location with unauthorized code, animations, and music. Location games earn money and that is the key.
If no one is making money off of the code mods and the games are not being sold as new with a markup because of having new code, I don’t understand wtf does stern care or the IP?
No one is profiting off of anyone except stern. How many sales has cleland helped with Guardians and Stranger Things? Screw Stern.
Quoted from flynnibus:Yes, but this is fanboy talk.
Cleland lives in a world with no rules or costs... Stern folks are working within real world constraints which constrain what assets they can use or afford to use.
So please then explain to me who is hurt or losing money from clelands code tweaks? Spoiler alert, no one! His code was the reason I bought GOTG. I was lucky to get one with 1.06
The pro I am sorry is a waste of money. They took way too much out. Might as well be a home pin version. Premium or nothing on this one IMO for home use only. Should have handled this like EHOH, no pro version.
Played a pro today at Level 1 in Gilbert Arizona. I have to say I was proven wrong. I loved it. It was a blast to play. The playfield didn’t look as bare in person. I was going to pass on Godzilla for a while and maybe get one down the road used.
Right now I can’t justify a premium at $2200 more. But I am getting a chance to play an LE, so will see if the premiums offerings are worth the upcharge.
My daughter got over 100 million three times on her first try playing it today. Beat me 8/10 times also. She loved it also. Liked the magnet way better than my initial first impressions.
Like someone mentioned in the owners thread, the playfield was definitely a touch too dark. Not horrible, but definitely less bright than AIQ, but kinda on par with JP.
Right ramp was a little tough to hit with the third flipper when compared to AIQ. Thought I would hate the single pop on the front right and that definitely added some challenge and fun to the game.
I was against the QR code reader and stern insider for new pins from day 1. But now I have to say it was pretty damn cool. Going to open an account for my daughter also.
The artwork looked much better in person. I prefer the pro art woo it of the bunch. BOC Godzilla song was awesome during Godzilla multiball. If the price was still $5999 it would be a steal, but even at $6600 still a great price.
I love my AIQ pro still, and I think I may move my new Guardians pro with cleland sound mod to get Godzilla. I still am getting JP premium and have Halloween CE coming early next year.
