Large upper Playfield, LCD, and Lasers.......

2 weeks later
#607 8 years ago

So 2016 should be 1 Pin for me.

I've decided to Pass on GOT, and GB is it! VERY excited to see the release!

#722 8 years ago

Split level playfield.

1 week later
#1270 8 years ago

Does anyone know more about the Lasers in the Game?

Just decoration? Or my hope that they are used in Gameplay more then either a "light" or "shot line of site".

#1562 8 years ago

What about the Pro getting a DMD and the LE getting the LCD?

#1820 8 years ago

I suppose someone will want these as Mods?
(New action figures released)

Quoted from moondrummer78:

Here's something I whipped up in Future Pinball. Definitely some new and weird things going on.

GB-Speculation_(resized).jpg

Dont forget the upper playfield ?!?

#1825 8 years ago

I cant thumbs down my own post, Jady!

#1936 8 years ago

All that I have seen and heard has been amazing....I hope it all comes true....Ill reserve my comments on the LCD, as what I heard has been already discredited on the thread.

Will everything I heard happen? Lasers, Upper Playfield, Stay Puff Figure, Subways, dont know, dont work there, but Ill hope....

Very Excited, though.

#2013 8 years ago
Quoted from TaylorVA:

I hope it is a grand slam. What would that be? Great art, layout, toys and code?

Freakin Lasers! (I hope they are used, not just decoration)

...and everything else!

#2031 8 years ago
Quoted from kaneda:

Do people have moles...aka...friends within Stern who are sharing stuff. Literally so much excitement for something nobody has seen. I get the theme is AMAZING, but calling it a homerun pin already? Nobody's even flipped once is kind of crazy, no?

Known about it for almost a year......Sworn to secrecy, punishable by castration!

#2282 8 years ago
Quoted from Pinfactory2000:

All I'm asking is for a little love from those that have seen the final pics and the videos of it being played!

I dont think those are in circulation...seen, but not "holding".

#2421 8 years ago

I am not sure 10x is accurate, but I can share there is more neat stuff on the playfield that hasnt been seen before!

I am very impressed so far, but will wait for final build. I am in, at this time....looks like a blast!

I think the Pinside boards will be on fire, when its release is made....Damn, now Im humming the theme song.

#2508 8 years ago

Yup...now about the laser looking lights..are they motorized?

#2510 8 years ago

Can't tell, they could be el wire in a tube?
I thought they were green lasers?
Great thought on using it to cross streams if they were on stepper motors.

#2649 8 years ago

OK, How about thoughts on the magnetic slings?

#2653 8 years ago

Do you think they will be throwing the ball stronger/further?

You might be right about protection.

The angles on the slings seem different....

(Thanks for indulging me, Jady!)

#2658 8 years ago
Quoted from Robotoes:

half-heartedly following this, but is this an actual thing? no slingshot arms and magnets instead?
if so...that's pretty damn cool.

Havent seen the mech, to comment.....but sounds like a great innovation to me!

#2669 8 years ago

It is what I heard....right? wrong?...dont know.

How it works differently? dont know.

Does anyone know more to add?

It looks like a solid bar across the length of the sling that kicks back.

#2672 8 years ago

Good point. If an issue, they could code the "sound", to fire when needed....even amplifying or changing with modes..

Good for Jaws soundtrack....

#2712 8 years ago
Quoted from bigd1979:

I agree how do we know anything .... that leaked picture may not even be for this or anything. Ive never seen such crazy speculation and rumors on a pin lol. We have directional magnets, flying ghost, underground ramps filled with slime, giant walking marshmallow man and proton packs shooting lasers destroying pinballs lmao.

Yes, you described it accurately!

#3161 8 years ago
Quoted from VegasMike:

Hypothetically (based on what has been seen but cannot be shown), do you think that the Proton Streams along the sides move and/or are controlled by the player during any modes? Maybe to aim at Slimer or 'Cross the Streams'?

Dont know...but excited to find out!

#3445 8 years ago

Ya know, Thats one steep ramp....do you think balls will come back SDTM?
For the Ghost, a "Peppers Ghost". I know some...But is that always with a mirror,
or does it look like its intent is to be projected by a light pipe of some kind?

Of course, a big question for me is knowing that the renders are old, is for anyone who
does know...how far off are they?

#3462 8 years ago

I suppose in the back of the game, a peppers ghost rig with mirror would work, but Im still confused by the one
on the left, 9 o'clock, going up the ramp.....any additional thoughts?

The proton beams from the right and left...well I sure hope they move, and are perhaps integrated more in game play, then a light show.
If they moved in say stepped progression, then a goal might be to get them to cross?

Other stuff on my mind. The stand alone targets.....how cool if they pop up as "ghosts" in the game.
Be cool to have a ghost shape target........

But the Newton or captive ball on left. could that be a place to lock balls? or to move balls from one side to the other...like EM Flicker?

What is happening at the top of the ramp?

#3664 8 years ago

How about 1 image for both games?

alien2_(resized).jpgalien2_(resized).jpg

#3749 8 years ago

I hate to go back to my original thought having been shot down, but other then code cost, a DMD on the pro, and an LCD on the Premium and LE.
Keeps entry games to operators and fans at a low cost, and a difference greater then art or a magnet
between versions.
People, like when WOZ, was first shown, see the visual, hear the sound, and open their wallets....
Id feel better getting an LCD or color DMD in the cost expected for an LE.

#4096 8 years ago

Needs more cowbell!

#4108 8 years ago
Quoted from epthegeek:

Do they still show text-heavy inserts? The one buzzkill for me on the one closeup playfield shot I saw was that the inserts were way too busy with text. Kinda junked up the whole look.

Yes, these are the last 2 pics that I have seen, so that all are on Twitter now.

New, but not new...I personally think they look fine, and show what the playfield art might look like.

#4112 8 years ago
Quoted from Taxman:

Are you in the wrong thread again, lol.

I figured this out...multiple tabs open...I could swear I posted in the right one....
Ill go hide now in a hole of embarrassment!

#4136 8 years ago

Search Ghostbuster Pinball on Twitter.....

#4146 8 years ago

Sorry that the pics were scrubbed.

#4754 8 years ago

Stupid question...does the sound of ones voice have property rights?
Meaning can a quality impersonator create new lines, in the voice of say Dan Akroyd
be used....

#4978 8 years ago
Quoted from Butch2099:

Really hoping the Pro is Slimer... Is there any hope of Ecto1 or Stay Puft as the LE? Anyone know for sure? In for LE, Slimer may make me downgrade though..

by whats out there, Ecto is a full side art shot on Pro, and Slimer is on the LE.

#5142 8 years ago

I reserved a Premium today....why not?

#5145 8 years ago
Quoted from underlord:

Cuz we haven't seen anything yet?? Or is it just me?!

Nah, just me.

I figured the code will have meat, and Im too cheap for an LE.

I like the full game to play.

Usually I buy a premium, huo...but I feel this game wont be so easy to find this way, because
by the time of new owner, 6 months later, the code will be further then previous releases.
This means less buyer remorse, and higher demand.

So, maybe wait an extra year or so to save some $$$, or I can bump to an LE if available.

Perhaps, I'm actually an anxious, I want it "now" customer and dont want to wait.....I hate to admit that,

But Im kinda watching the clock and time differently.

Both Art Packages look great, I cant imagine not liking a Premium art, even though I havent seen it, and Im
less focused on the art personally.

If the ramp dips under the pf, it will be interesting to see how it's set up to recover a stall.

I think to the VUK.....

#5289 8 years ago

I can see some nice green or purple glow coming from the under play field ramp!

VUKs and Indys Glowing targets!

#5793 8 years ago

Losing My mind here....I understand the differences from the Matrix between LE and Premium,
But after reading all I could, ....and I cant find again.....

Did I read that the LE will have additional coding or game play features not found on the Premium?

#6432 8 years ago
Quoted from Jean-Luc-Picard:

Anyone else have trypophobia and find the melting Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to be a bit disturbing. I am still buying a premium, but this phobia really really torments me. No joke, I almost throw up instantly. Luckily it consists of irregular shapes so it doesn't bother me as much. As well, I am not saying it is drawn poorly, it is fantastic I am just saying anyone else that has this dreadful phobia have this issue. I think the premium and pro translites look great but I may have to print some fire decals to put on the glass to cover these areas. Just to give you an idea how bad this trypophobia is, my wife bought a rug that collects dirt in tiny uniform flesh like holes and you open it and it then expands and you dump the dirt. I cant look directly at the rug and especially when it has cat litter or something in it or I freak out. These images will haunt me for days after I see one. I know I am not alone with this issue...
That said, please out of common courtesy for people that really suffer from this mental phobia do not post photos of it. My self and others who freak out about this cant handle it... thanks in advance.

At first I thought you were kidding....So I looked it up, Holy Shit! I dont know what I saw...But I dont want to see it!

I had no idea that there was a name for this, or the mild, but real issue I have too.
So does my wife, and a few friends tonight....Absolutely freaky how upsetting this can be....
Enough said....got to saturate my brain with pin pictures, food pictures, porn, anything! aggggghhhhh!!!

#6438 8 years ago

Try pictures of a rotovirus, or a frog that has eggs in its back....plenty of real life examples.

So illogical, yet real....when it affects you. Sorry about that my friend....take a break...I thought it was just me and my son that freaked out over some of these...the real ones are worse when you know they are real.....

Anyway...back to GB!!!

#6486 8 years ago

Is that Zulu in there?

#6547 8 years ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

Make whatever you are fearful of seem funny. Heart attack? Bring it on! Stroke? Yes please, I'll take 4.

I know this is meant in jest, but I had two mini strokes last night, and they are not fun. (6 months of this)
Nor is waiting for surgery, or filling out wills, or spending ones day either trying to live, or making death plans.
While I also have a mild case of what effects Aaron too, it really isnt anything we want to be made fun of.
We know its irrational, and "curing" can seem too high a mountain.

For him, me, and Im sure others, Ill ask just a small amount of compassion an understanding and just let it be dropped.

Its appreciated if this happens, but understand if you still feel you wish to make fun off....I just hope not.

#6595 8 years ago

Its been a bunch of fun playing with ideas.

My son and I made a Peppers Ghost, to be of Slimer for a topper, but line of sight ruled that out...pretty damn cool though.
Then, Im certain that the over under ramp will look Great with a Glow from a Matrix Purple, or Purple Passion, getting either a light or dark purple coming from there.

I think 2 magnet replacements with terror dogs would be nice to add to the Apron as a MOD....

Others have PMd me about the containment trap as a topper, where different events triggers lights on it, and it pops open
when needed with additional affects from inside...Id like that!...Smoke, Hologram...Im such a Disney Haunted Mansion fan from my GB time/age in the 70's

Not much to "Add" to the playfield I can see...looks great just as it is...Didnt see any open glaring areas.

A bit bummed, as I hoped the Premium would have the "do not cross the beams" Proton toys on either side.

Id bet if Stern made them as an "Add on Mod" they would sell....It looks like everything needed is in place.

Ill be looking to offer additional lighting to add to the buildings, as well as some new products not yet released that will likely relate.

I havent heard anyting about RGB with the Game...anyone know more?

This is just simply an amazing game to release for any and all versions, and it seems that all that I have showed and chatted with break a smile.

Well Done, Sirs!

#6601 8 years ago

Im wondering, because there was a release/leak of CAD images, and therefore likely prototypes made and tested,
If there is a chance they could be made?

Id imagine code has been created too.

What about a Stern add on MOD?

Would you pay $300-$500 to add this?

Do you think if a public cry was made, it might happen?

#6621 8 years ago

Appreciate the feedback.

Ill try to reach out to Stern, but should someone get their ear at Texas, or for any other reason, it would be nice to know more.

It would be really cool if it was just BOM, and offered as a MOD, with code to either not cross the beams in a multi ball mode...shots move them closer or time, other shots move a stepper further away.
and then in another more final mode, one must cross the beams, and keep them there while defeating character in mode.

My only wish on this...stoked with every playfield pic...this is going to be a blast to play!

#6624 8 years ago

Funny! Im just a sucker for well used Proton beams!

OK...lets talk slimer and the bundle feeding him.... is he spinning? Moving up and down? Swinging across the playfield, right and left?

#6661 8 years ago

Theres a pair of Triangle Inserts on Premium/LE

Also noticed for the first time the Large Library Building is not on Pro.

Wondering about the reverse shot up the ramp made from the right.....I hope not a drainer!

#6671 8 years ago

Heres the pic from earlier:

#6682 8 years ago
Quoted from aingide:

What about a containment trap that opens up and projector behind/inside it that projects a ghost on the ceiling or the wall above and behind the pinball machine? Show the ghost flying around and taunting you, then when you finish the mode it gets sucked into the trap.

Yeah Baby! you got it!

#6852 8 years ago

Likely....but the user controlled variables
on the magnet slings could create some
Wild play.

#6904 8 years ago

It was in the pre design, but not showing in the completed game. End of story that is known, I believe.

10
#6979 8 years ago
Quoted from Pimp77:

...and suckers keep jumping in without any evidence of gameplay.

I resemble that remark!

You could very well be right, but after all the games Ive bought and sold in 44 years, Ive only lost on 2.
(And enjoyed them all except Bellringer, a $50 loss)

Is it possible it sucks, I dont like it, and sell at a loss?

Sure! But Ill gamble on my experience with no worries either way.

Personally, I feel this will excel in my expectations, Im a Magnet Junkie, and these slings are my epiphany!
Next are Newton Balls....Now theres two to my taste. Holograms? Peppers Ghost? Bunches at home and at work.....

Im playing this game in my dreams already!

(Yes, I am in Pinball Therapy Sessions! )

#7004 8 years ago
Quoted from Manimal:

please forgive me for introducing a serious topic into this fantasy world we have here........lol

No Seriousness allowed! Thats for the Basement! HA!

#7207 8 years ago

Love that Slimer Action!

#7333 8 years ago

I think that we may all look for that "perfect game", with of course, all our personal differences.
This one looks to me to be one of the games to qualify!

No complaints......only joyous anticipation!

#7548 8 years ago

Great view of slimer and its action in the Pro!

#7707 8 years ago
Quoted from MiamiRedSkin:

I don't think they will interact that way with gameplay. Most likely just a cosmetic add-on using EL wire that will pulse or turn on/off with the game modes.

I hope not, the CAD renders show a much more robust mech, that appears to move right and left.....

Of course, if this didnt function this way, an add on could be just a light addition.

19
#7850 8 years ago

I think the Magnetic slings will undoubtedly offer different play.
I am confident that this will upset some people, as they would now need to play differently, perhaps.
I respect those that dont want any changes in ball movement off slings, although I am not sure why. Fortunately, there is a pro.

To me, its innovation, its new, its different, and I want that.
I have collected the "odd ones" continuously.
SafeCracker, CSI, Banzai Run, BBH, WWLE, CV, and on, but what happens is they grow on you, one learns how
to press the buttons, and nudge the machine differently.
I mean after all, that really is all the interaction we have.

Not worried at all about playfield wear....removable mylar is easy.
Not worried about different play from the slings....its innovation!
Not worried about the code...The inserts share theres lots to do!
Not worried abut flow...I have plenty of flow games to be happy.....

Bring on GB!!! Every Day is another day to get excited about seeing the Premium/LE!!

Slime On!

#7867 8 years ago
Quoted from Guinnesstime:

Wait, is this Bobby McFerrin?

Could be....just the first day without pain in 6 months... gotta get excited about something!

#8466 8 years ago

Of course he ramp can be hit! The pictures perspective is such that it appears steeper.....

#8485 8 years ago

Got the height, Paul, I agree, but I think the ramp looks "shorter" then the length it is.
No doubt a harder shot, but I cant imagine that a ton of testing went in to make sure it works.

Now, age the game 10-20 years on route, or after x number of games, with weaker flippers
I agree there could be an issue....

Could also be my eyes...they are pretty messed up these days too.....

#8494 8 years ago
Quoted from rai:

Just curious but does does it matter if it's steep or shallow?

Dont know....but my wife judges my friends with the same statement!

#8500 8 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

Well then what's her judgement on me then.

You break the mold, Paul....one of a kind!!!

#8528 8 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

One problem area on the pro that I see is the top of the plastic ramp sharp right turn, after a few hundred plays there's gonna be a real bad ball trail on the outside of the curve. Something clear, replaceable and cheap would keep that part of the ramp lookin good. That would be a GREAT mod.

An inexpensive, and great looking solution of a GB Ramp protection set is in the works....or so Im told.
Keeps the ramp looking brand new years down the road!

#8566 8 years ago

I love coming to read this thread!

I am so F*@king Excited!

15
#8578 8 years ago

I understand why many would not like the LE artwork....Its Green, Its over the top, Its Got Green Slime and Slimer!

Its so freaking Radical and Ugly......I LOVE IT!

Actually, Im biased. The original Movie and Slimer holds many great Memories....

#8594 8 years ago

I have created some wild affects on TWD with UV LED Rails.......I wonder if this playfield will be UV Reactive?
Ive got piles of stuff from working on Predator.

#8613 8 years ago
Quoted from Ed209:

Arn't you afraid of color fade?

not at all, they would only be on as tied to a flasher or event....considering I average 500 games a year, Im not worried.
On Route, with lots of daily play....you are correct.

#8620 8 years ago

Have you ever seen the Cartoon?

Quoted from BentleyBear:

I have never seen the cartoon.

Great Jady, I grabbed a couple things too just to see what might work...

The Neon Ghost Busters Sign should look Sweet!

But so far you are in the Lead for me!!

#8627 8 years ago
Quoted from Propaganda:

Millions of people around the world believe we have been visited in the past by extraterrestrial beings. What if it were true? Did ancient aliens really help to shape our history? And if so, might their be an extraterrestrial connection behind the secrets of the Ghost Busters pinball machine?

Its worse than that. I had lunch with John Titor the time traveler, and he told me about Ghost Busters pins in the future!

#8830 8 years ago

Personally, I love video modes...Junkyard being my favorite.
For the exact reasons others dont like, Old farts like me would like a minute to catch our breath,
avoid a coronary, and play a little vid.

As long as you can turn these off or cancel them, I think its great to have a choice!

#8883 8 years ago

Only two, or three, or four more weeks!

#8954 8 years ago

Getting Closer.....heard my delivery date on an LE is hopefully April 28th, and Pros could be shipping in another week or so!

#8958 8 years ago

Thats what I was told by our Fl distributor, LSOG....
Theres a Party on the 15th in Jax for the Pro scheduled to arrive.

#8964 8 years ago

Come up and visit, Adam...my house is always open!
Kurt will likely have one at the Pinball Lounge.

#9183 8 years ago
Quoted from Bing_Party:

Somebody lied to you

I hope not. I asked this morning if there were any changes, and was told, "No"
But if there is a delay, I am not concerned.
It is LSOG, as a friend and distributor.

#9291 8 years ago

Might look sweet with regular mirror blades!

1 week later
#9915 8 years ago

Theres some Politics of positioning and allotment behind the scenes, IMO.
Why one distributor gets sooner then another is beyond me, but obviously this happens....

So one might know exactly of their delivery, while another may be waiting to hear......nothing abnormal about that.

#9935 8 years ago
Quoted from Alphajerk3000:

I think it might rhyme with Mautomated Gervices.

#10125 8 years ago

Simple......This is just the beginning of what it can do, and shown only in test!

One way or another, like it or not, this game is going to be one hell of a ride!

#10172 8 years ago

....its just the beginning of what we will see!

10
#10999 7 years ago

It would seem to me, by reviews
and chatting, that playing for fun,
and discovering the game is the best way to enjoy!
The. Negatives I have heard were about
Flow, code, strategy, points.
I'm so glad I play for fun, I'm still figuring
out AC/DC!
Bring it on! No high scores ever! Just Fun!

#11002 7 years ago

Good Morning Jady!

Great Design, as Always!

#11055 7 years ago

I love madness!, Chuck.

#11069 7 years ago

Didn't they move clear coating to in house for QC?

1 week later
#11532 7 years ago

Played my first couple of games tonight, and was blown away!

What a Great Pro Version....Packed!

Fast, so much to do, and what Fun!
My wife, who doesnt play much was thrilled with Music and Slimer!

No issues, other then the ball resting under slimer a couple times...
Brutal game, I dont think Ill put tilt bob in, or make some out lane adjustments.

We some some modes, Jackpot, extra ball...impressive code and animations out the box!

A Center Post was installed...this helped alot.
I can imagine this on a Premium/LE, in Multiball, where a ball hits the save post then gets grabbed
and thrown by the magna slings....thats one weird ball move on a Pin!

So different then anything recent.

I left, only wanting more!

#11534 7 years ago

Edited and replaced with photoshopped pic.

2_(resized).jpg2_(resized).jpg

#11559 7 years ago

I found the center post during game less about the saves, and more about how cool and far the ball bounced.
Perhaps I was projecting a bit of the magna slings "affect' on a pro.
I thought it worked like it belongs.
When one gets to play some, perhaps
Opinions might vary.
I do miss a factory installed uppost...it's been a while.

I plan on changing the Flashers and some GI out, when the game arrives.

Ill be sharing what I did, as well as some options for others, depending on their needs....

Definitely the center city flasher could use some color, IMO.

Cant wait! Unboxing Party!

Another thought is to undersize a silicone ring for the slings.
Since they arent being stretched by a coil mechanism, the undersize will give a "
"taunter" position against the single switch, making it more sensitive in either direction.

Just a thought......But having messed with lots of different material, I think this will be of help.

Working on my topper, and will try to get some hand held pics up later.

I picked up two Slimers. One is the Bank Slimer, and the other is a smaller resin statue, very heavy that lights.
The resin statue glows more evenly, the bank has solid plastic arms, so the arms on the bank wont glow without some attempts at hollowing out.
I have a very large Plasma Disc for the background, A blueish white lightning with random and sound sensitive controls.
In front of the disc, will go a lighting Slimer. Between the two will be either EL wire or Piped Light tubes, wrapped around Slimer, and behind, as if its coming from disk. Slimer will either light always, or with feature/flasher, same with wires.
I may be so bold as to add a stepper motor or other, if I think I can make slimer go left and right, or up and down, or shake.
Its ambitious, I have most of the parts.
I am slow as hell, and I didnt want to post until I had pics...Ill shoot for this weekend, but if you were out looking, as Ive received a few PMs, I wanted to share about lighting the Slimer bank and its arms. Perhaps you might get a sense of my vision.....Id prefer a trap first, but Ill start here.

Quoted from 3pinballs:

I totally agree with you. LOTR doesn't blind me neither does WOZ. Don't understand why they didn't do RGB's! Even on Nascar the 2 yellow flashers blind me and that's where our eyes are focused just above the flippers and too darn hard to see the ball and I play with lights on in the room.
Hope there's a way to adjust the brightness of the flashers especially the pulsing white ones. If we can adjust the brightness that would be great.
Don't know why Stern and people think we need to have super bright LED's in the game. Cooler LED's are easy on the eyes, just like WOZ and incadescent's are great on LOTR in terms of brightness.
I understand that the white inserts go with the color scheme of the Ghost's and I'm fine with that, but they should have used color inserts instead of the clear one's as those are blinding.
If anyone knows if we can adjust the brightness setting's that would be great.

From my side, I personally agree. I graduate my flashers, if LED, to be dimmer in the front.
Sometimes, they are just best as Incandescent.

But from my email, I receive plenty of requests for "brighter", "brightest", to "I want to blind my friends when playing".....close enough to invoke a seizure!

I think as we get older, we have less tolerance, and less ability to refocus back, after this momentary blindness.

I see flashers a light show, a "reward" for action and performance.
For others, it is certainly a different desire, and brightness.

So adjusting brightness, if not by the game, can be achieved via the Bulb choice.

Many games, I use flex heads to simply get the colors I want, but pointed away from the eyes, when the flashers rise above the playfield from below.

Quoted from kpg:

I'm sure it would have been cooler with Slimer being able to move up and down also, but I really think the Prem/LE version is better anyway, seeing as how it can "avoid" shots and also block more shots, versus the Pro model which is essentially a Slimer piñata that tea bags the playfield in the same spot, every single time.
Both versions are fine, but in the Ghostbuster's movie Slimer is called a "class 5 roaming vapor" and not a "class 5 piñata vapor" so I want that motherf***er to ROAM

In the Video, I believe Slimer raises and lowers when leaving the buildings in the LE/Premium.
Is this correct?
I cant imagine they left the up and down motion completely out.
I think the code we see now is just right and left, and hope/believe/imagine, that with additional code there will be modes where it goes up and down, parking its ass in front of a shot as well.

#12628 7 years ago

That would be so weird if on the pro the Mac is to only go up and down and on the premium only right and left. Doesn't make much sense to me, but anything's possible....

#12640 7 years ago

I watched the video again, and unless my eyes are bad, I do see the mech moving up to raise slimer into city Pops. Am I wrong here?
If this is true, yes, therest of the video he is just blocking shots when moving....
Why wouldnt this be just code to have it behave like a Pro?

#12654 7 years ago
Quoted from tiltmonster:

It's a different mechanism, it angles up to go in the city then levels off to go side to side on the PF and doesn't have the ability to go up and down, where as the Pro only has the ability to go up and down... code cannot fix that, it would take a new mechanism to have that ability.

Thank you for correcting what i could not see.....much appreciate it!

Ill put GB next to BBH.......maybe something will rub off in the ectoplasm closeness!

#12816 7 years ago

Certainly first impressions are important.
The first 10-20 games is interesting in reaching decisions.

Some of the games I didnt like after a dozen or so games, and had second thoughts:

TWD
AC/DC
WH2O
BBH
Shadow

All are games now my favorites!

Sure GB isnt going to be for everyone...theme, music, shots.....but I am amazed how often Ive changed my mind!

Watch what the code will be doing and where this grows!.....as well as playing a Premium!

Epic? Maybe not, but the Pro has grown on me now......

#13353 7 years ago

Even more reasons to get excited! That LE looks Great!

#13382 7 years ago

Locally, at the Pinball Lounge, the owners of a Pro, added a center post.
Feedback from many was this was sac-religious, at best......That it should not be done.

I find it to be a benefit, and added fun to have the straight bounce back.
I respect, with some confusion, that others dont.

The operator/owner feels it adds not only to the experience of game play in a positive way, but
also adds to the bottom line of profit, in operating a game in a public place.

Safe to say, "to each their own", and its a personal choice.

#13740 7 years ago

Played an LE in my dreams last night....Boy what an amazing Game!

Coming soon!...........

#13938 7 years ago

I look forward to it being hard.

The games I have in my home reflect games I cant, or havent beat....only once LITZ.
The games I move through after a few months, usually dont stay.

Fun is a high score, or flailing away, or going for a specific goal or mode.

I am very grateful for being so bad at playing, I have no choice but to be happy with Fun!

Bring it on! Guaranteed Ill never beat the game or see all the modes!

Quoted from Schabs81:

Cant wait to see how they look with Green Op-Max in the Rails....

Or look for Pink Slime acrylic to come, and put Purple or Pink in!

Anxiously waiting!!!

#13988 7 years ago

#13995 7 years ago

Hi Paul, or anyone else with a game,

Could you tell me if all the 5V flashers are metal Bayonet, or are there any wedge based flashers in the game....???

Thanks!

#14148 7 years ago
Quoted from Flato:

So are the rumors true about the double coat clear on LE I have heard it both ways.

I missed something? I thought the LEs have a coating over the signature....

Love that the LE is actually glass! The artwork, because of the white screening, takes the existing lighting and disburses it more evenly.

There should be a way to help Pros and Premiums light better, without much effort.
Certainly Back box lighting kits, or add ons, be it Home owner strips, or Products we and others have,
But I think if one has the material, an extra layer of maybe Silicone Baking Paper, Wax paper, something added might help these gain a better "glow" and even spread of the lighting....

Just sharing an opinion and seed, that someone might play a bit with there pro, and see if there is any help
from this method....even just a large white sheet of paper?

Thoughts?

#14153 7 years ago
Quoted from jeffsgames:

Not sure if that would help out the "washed out" look that translites have compared to backglasses.

It may not...but maybe worth someones time to try.

It makes a difference to those with reproduction translites with thin screening...or can the Spike LEDs be dimmed through settings?

#14209 7 years ago

Has this been covered before?

What happens to No Ghosting Bulbs in a Ghost Buster Game?

(insert punchline)

#14258 7 years ago

Ive enjoyed playing a Pro on location here. Of course the center Post was ridiculed as sacrilegious,
but I find it helped, and am OK, if someone feels they are "training wheels" for tournaments.
I dont play competitively, and often guests that come by are friends and family that have limited pinball experience.
So I picked up the MOD from Europe sold at Pinball life. Hopefully enough bounce in the Free floating post,
a generous ball save, and no cheap side drains. OK, all that can be left as factory, or solved in minutes.

For callouts, code, and game play, It seems the same, every new game, and I understand theres tons of rule changes, sounds, music, and callouts, yet to be activated. I cant ever judge anymore what a "final code" will mean, but watching TWD, WOZ, Xmen, (games here) and all others...this just takes time.
Respectfully, its Great that many dont like, it helps Stern know what changes might be needed in code.....lets not get lazy, but continue to help them by sharing all we can.
Certainly at a show, first out of box, may not provide the best setup, but with 100s of games at a show, there is so much joy playing 50 years from easy and boring to brand new, it is about expectations.
Cant ever have everyone agree, but we can agree, at least as we see it now, what we will be playing a year from now, stands to be different in code....Lets keep sharing what we see and want, positive and negative, to help this game be great, and be happy for both sides of the scale get represented with respect.

#14314 7 years ago

Excusing my ignorance, (or meds), but without public fanfare, wont pinball browser, help us all we need,
after we see all that Stern has for us?

In 44 years, Ive never played a game the first time, first few different days, and felt I knew whether it was a "keeper"....especially with release code.

Im grateful for all "first impressions" and want to hear them all, but I dont think it will be affecting me at all.

My decision, will be roughly a year to a year and a half of owning it.

My only exception was WWLE....Code just wasnt going to do it for me.

On this, I need to give it time for updates....

Hell, I didnt "Love" my Woz until the last update, and add a ball, till it gelled with me as what I wanted in code
for the "Fun" Factor.

Walking Dead, we all know...

Xmen, last update made it a deep dark adventure....

#14443 7 years ago
Quoted from MikeS:

Does anyone know if gameplay is actually dependent on the "Ecto Goggles" and does the feature add any additional modes or strategy above what is in the "Pro" code offers? ie. do you need to collect various ghosts or time your shots to be dependent on what is showing in the goggles above and beyond what is going on with the playfield inserts?
I watched a little bit of the live feed and watched the "Ecto Goggles" cam and it seemed like most of the time there was nothing present? When there was something it was so small and seemed barely noticeable.

Not in current code, but think of it as animated insert.....I am told it will be used more than just a "pretty display"

#14674 7 years ago

Im so glad that the code will grow, and a great deal of "issues" will change over time.

Not having the game yet, and only logging around 20 games so far, all that goes through my mind reading
a great deal of posts is "fun!"

I just want to have fun!

I respect those that want to know what shots and when, for higher scores and faster progression through modes....I get it.

But personally, I dont read the rules, worry about strategy, or how high my score is...
I want to discover these things over time....lots of time.

I have even heard from a few Pro owners who have figured it all out already saying, "next game!"

Im also ready to try game wide UV affects, or regional.....I hope the paint is reactive. has anyone tried?
They looked Freaky as hell on TWD, so lets try on this, and add some reactive balls too!
Maybe a couple UV Spots tied to the magna sling Flashers?

#15230 7 years ago

Well, you are going to love what I have done!

Because of the gap, I changed to banana flippers!
and because of the bricks from Scoleri Bros, I added a Pop up Center Post, that Pops up whenever the targets pop up.
Now, just in case a ball should have the "balls" to center drain, I drilled and added a center post!
Moved the outlanes to almost closed, and added extra rubber....

Now, I think Ive got it covered!

Playing the Last few Hours! LE is Super Sweet! No issues! ....and I got #69!

#15376 7 years ago

Today, I had the house to myself, and started in....First up, I had a switch to adjust.
Easy.

A couple Mods to install. The mirror mod for the lanes on top is fun, and works with the theme.
I used double sided tape instead of the instructions calling for cables disconnected and a more complex method included.

Added the slime green out lanes, Green Bands, and yes, the top side save post to keep the family interested in playing with me.
Definitely adds a new element to the game, and its crazy when in multiball, a ball bounces back off the center post then the magna slings acting on another ball fling the original almost anywhere!

Also, maybe old age. but cranking up the volume to 15+, I could hear instruments, that I could not hear before!
Give it a shot, raise the roof! Play it Loud!

Managed to get to 100 ghosts, mass hysteria, .....madness....confusion.....chaos....as the mode says, mass hysteria!

A fun goal, not too hard, and a blast to play!

Heres some pics, note the before and after around the flippers.....

6 hours of playing today, on and off, and just enjoying the code where it is now.

355,000 ish, but what a rush! For me I had to sit down with chest pains after playing that!

Just Saw, "Got Slimed" Mode..... A Mode with Color!

The Magna slings did a few new tricks when I passed 120 Ghosts or 500,000 points maybe...I cant even describe it....more
like a WTF? Moment.

I had it through an air ball over the opposite sling and get stuck going up the Habitrail!
Thats a first in my life! It landed with a crazy back spin and jumped up and got stuck!

Almost feels like a Happy TWD! Collecting ghosts are easier, though. Not sure how long Ill leave the center post, though.
I seem to be having 1/2 hour games now.

Quoted from flashinstinct:

I finally played my first few games of GB today. I was left with a 'meh' feeling because slimer was registering maybe 2 of 10 shots and the volume was down to "barely audible" levels... so it really killed it for me. The other thing was the air balls, holy crap there were so many. After watching so many videos I know it will be a pin that I will enjoy but first impressions were a killer.

Your right, Volume is so important on this game...it is a big part of the experience.

As is Slimer.....

I Put some good thought into the code as it is NIB, compared to other games, and as others get their Premiums....You Lucky Dogs!.....
How cool to help share some of the things we would like to see.
From user changes or controls on Linear or Non Linear, to the Obvious changes to another Multi Ball or Two, and more.
In that regard, it does feel more complete then the last titles over the last few years, but I also see the similarities between this and TWD or AC/DC.
So much Potential to come from code, because the shots are there, the Music is there, the art is there.
Part Simpsons Pinball party had a love child with The Walking Dead, with a splash of raising from Totan!

Its simply a great experience game, and an interesting comparison from non players compared to WOZ.
The themes, polarized non players more than anything else. GB the sound won out hands down.
Art was subjective, but everyone agreed that special magic of "one more game" was more present in GB than a completed
WOZ. Just different, I truly caress and Love my WOZ, but an interesting comparison was made by the regular people......

I know when I go to the movies, and I see a good movie, I tend to dream about it, or think about for several days.

I know when I get a pin that "Grabs" me, its the same thing. So far, I am sleeping well, playing Ghostbusters in my sleep,
and humming along!

I think it sets a new standard of Fun in a family Pinball!

Quoted from Mitch:

mine are low on my LE

Was yours produced before the 11th of July, or received after?

#15592 7 years ago
Quoted from Mitch:

I picked mine up July 7th so it was made before then.

It may be this.....I cant say all new ones are fixed, Im not at Stern, and its possible Pros that had the playfield done already.
or for that matter even an LE that wont have the raised out lanes.

I guess I can only speak for mine and a couple other LEs I know of.
In that regard, I shouldnt assume that this is a fix across the board.

Perhaps others that are receiving now, or this week, etc. can chime in.

#15605 7 years ago
Quoted from DBLDN11:

I like the ModFather one. Old Pin Guy says his is raised higher so would that mean this mod is no longer needed?

Oh, youll still get airballs and lane jumps with the raised outlane rails.

This kit from PBL does cut it down to a minimum, and I like the look of the green.
The Super bands, did seem to make it easier to catch and dead catch a ball. and if you wish to install the clear, you can add the top mounted center post. In doing this, yes, the game is easier, with SDTM bounce outs, but I find it is more fun, and when it bounces out
in multiball and is grabbed as part of the magna sling, its another cool ghostly affect!

Easy enough to remove, if needed. My only Caveat is the center post screw supplied was the incorrect size, and I had to hunt one down.

I havent tried Chucks, but I am sure he has tested it very well, and would also and help and looks to the game. Love his work, too!

Airballs are everywhere, and I think both these issues are a testament to the speed of the game.
Hit something hard enough, and it launches almost anywhere in the game.
Hit the outlanes too fast, and over it goes!

Added a nice layer of P21S Wax, and raised the back a little more as its screaming fast!

#15608 7 years ago
Quoted from Flato:

What pitch do you have it set at?

Hate to say I eye ball it....

#15614 7 years ago

The link doesnt work....I suppose its pulled rather then answering emails maybe, about when its back in stock.
Perhaps an answer will come from someone asking PBL.

#15686 7 years ago

I like it when in multiball, and the magna sling is doing a trick with 1 ball when the other is cradled,
it can grab the cradled ball and fling it away!

#15693 7 years ago

i tried, its so hard to know when this happens! last night I had two balls bouncing from the slings an inch to the middle and then back...videos exist of this...but two at one time!!!
Just hysterical! The did like 6 bounces, 2 balls, 2 slings, until the 3rd came down and changed the movement.
Keeps one on their toes when playing!

Ghost Hookers! Why Not!!!!

#15702 7 years ago

No premiums Yet, Just LEs.....A few quality issues, but I believe most of us are enjoying the crap out of this title!

For kicks, I pushed the settings on the magna slings up almost doubling the strength, by number!

Holy Shit! One has to try a few incremental settings and see the results!

#15705 7 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

What happens? Throws the balls further or makes them do weirder things?

more power...further throws...had a few go up to the top lanes!
Seems to have a longer reach, and a stronger throw....Factory default is just fine...but the settings are there....Try a couple games!

I say this, as any game NIB or other with Magnets, Ive seen differences from game to game with the same title.
Balls? Power? Magnet Quality? Dont know, and others think Im crazy, but from IM to Xmen, I believe games act differently.

#15714 7 years ago

Not sure where I was last night, but I had 2 games with a 2 ball multiball, and different music?

Part of a mode? coding error?................Dont know.....

Anyone else see a 2 ball multiball?

It took some really high scores and several extra balls before I saw them.....

#15716 7 years ago

That sounds about right......

#15726 7 years ago

Dont forget a Glare Eliminator from Comet, and get rid of the display reflection!

For me, and I am now just a customer it seems to sharpen the image on a Spike Display...
But I also have old eyes!

Does get rid of the reflection nicely!

http://www.cometpinball.com/DMD-GLARE-ELIMINATOR-p/dmdglare.htm

#15740 7 years ago

The Tilt eliminates, IMO, about 20%. The reason their are different answers and opinions is based on ones height, the angle the stand, and the ambient lighting.

Some see no reflection, others will see the full display. Its not the same for everyone.

If you do see it, and you wish it gone, this is a great solution.

To the other question, yes, the display appears about 10% dimmer, but that "disappears" in a day or two.

#15743 7 years ago

Saw a new ghost today......A Cat!

I think I have seen around 6 ghosts, maybe 8? and then Stern Logo, Super Jackpot.

Old Man
Slimer
Purple Ghost
Joker Face Ghost
Cat
There another non descript ghost, I cant think of what to call him.

What ghosts have others seen?

#15775 7 years ago

I think with a quick solder and black shrink wrap you will be fine. There is enough play for the wire to go on the side, and in mine either the bottom or in a straight line behind slimer and you wont see it.

I havent traced the wires to suggest replacing the line, but it should be an easy and invisible fix when done...no worries.

#15782 7 years ago

#15809 7 years ago

I have mirror blades, and if you have OCD, I would not recommend them for this game.
The amount of airballs after 100 games, that have hit the middle right side and other places, now has plenty
of dings. They are noticeable. If you think this will bother you, stay with printed.

For me, it bothers me enough to buy a $3.00 tube of green slime from China to see if I can slame that area!

#15966 7 years ago

That means they had roughly 10 days or less of production, with no issues! Yikes!

#16004 7 years ago

Its not LED ghosting, but a milky gap between clear coat finish, and playfield, most notably on the inserts.
Scroll back a few pages or peek at other threads to see pics for clarification.

#16035 7 years ago
Quoted from kpg:

Played a few games a few minutes ago, and hit Mass Hysteria multiball for the 3rd time.
I was critical of the reverse flipper thing ever since I found out about it, and suggested having the option to disable them in the settings menu.
Dwight PLEASE give the option to disable reverse flippers in this multiball- it cripples the multiball and is simply not fun. It's a terrible multiball all around. I can't stress enough how stupid the flipper reversing thing is. One second its reversed, the next its regular. The balls drain so quick, the only "Mass Hysteria" happening is thinking how stupid this multiball is. Work your way to collecting 100 ghosts and literally get screwed quickly. I'd rather not play the mode at all and keep racking points the normal way and not risk an immediate ball-ending drain session.
Seriously, its shit. Great game all around and I love it, but what a mistake coding it like that. Dwight, if you don't want to add the option to disable reverse flippers- give the option to just disable the multiball altogether so it can be 'removed' from gameplay.
For a name like Mass Hysteria, the game should have roaming lit targets that have no rhyme or reason, just on the fly decision making shots- Slimer should randomly start flying around, Scoleri's randomly pop up, the Cat (and maybe even a Dog) hologram shows up in the echo Goggles, etc. Needs something better then gimmicky flipper reversing.

I respect your opinion that you dont like it, but personally I Do!

I agree with you that a "delay" or "warning intro" would help, and even a ball save on the last ball of mass hysteria.

I am also one that loves user adjustments, and whether "off" is an option, or "no reverse", or "all reverse",
even some of your ideas and others.....User controls, however many we can get, I think helps make a game a winner,
and each persons game and challenge a more unique and fulfilling experience.

Perhaps others have ideas as well on Mass Hysteria!

As we see the code develop, and I hope as others will find, as you get a few hundred games in, the code opportunities are tremendous!

What we are playing now is a blast!

The shots are all over the playfield and can be in rapid fire timing!

Ive tinkered making a few.....surprisingly, it needs to be only a few mm in front of the targets to work.

I imagine we will see a few choices coming out.

Past 200 ghosts, and whether its coincidence or in code, some neat tricks from the magna slings.

I've seen it hit the left saucer, more frequently after 100 ghosts

Over 200. I had 2 balls flung up the left orbit to top lanes.

Last was the code that has the ball frozen. More often its doing a little dance before a bizarre fling,
but past 200 on multiball, I had it grab 3 balls, and they spun!
Like in X-Men LE, when the center disc grabs all the balls!
Not a fast spin, more like a rotating in the palm of your hand, then flung outward!

Just something unexpected in the middle of multi ball!

Also, seems the cat appears a lot more as the ghost totals rise.

Love the music in the higher modes too! Sweet!

Mines a month of daily play, and I still feel it Rocks as one of the best.
2 reasons might be the center post and the target covers.
Air balls are normal. The center
Posts make it fun, and I progress further in more games.
I can't think of any game I've gotten to wizard mode, after playing for even a few months.
I see the statement of Dwight saying the code is almost done, is a bit false based on conversations with those in the know. The logic of the code is almost complete..
We shouldn't expect major changes, because
Stern heard the years complaints of ship with more code, so they did and that's the support that is suppose to be said.
The polish will add a lot.....much like the latter updates. We should be expecting a lot of callouts.
As more people get games and the insert issue fades, we can focus on gameplay, and
Options on code to improve.
It isn't like any other game I've ever played,
In the sense of fun.
No missions, zombie kills
..which I love, it's more a throwback of innocence, and a feeling like it's the
first game of ever played!
For some, other games may fit their needs
Or wants from a game
...
Makes sense, of course.
But I think for newbies, families. One pin houses, or the one all fun game it's one of the best
I have others that fill.my needs when I want other challenges.
GB just makes me smile, and my family, and
that's all that counts for me!

Some Pics and Ideas for you guys!

Started on adding some stuff!

From the left upper inlane, "P" an unlensed Matrix white brought power with a splitter and
3" extension to 2-10 SMD Frosted Purple strips, to give the whole city a sweet Purple Under Glow.
Ill likely add a dimmer control, and drop the brightness a little.
Any color works here, and in 6.3V, one can attach to the center flasher as well, using a matrix Flasher Socket Connector.

I chose instead at this time to change that flasher, add a 6 SMD PAD to replace the white circle, and ran a Green Pad up through Stay Puff to his Back for a lit and Flashing green behind him,

Any color will work, and one can alter the stock back splash lights, to any color to compliment.

Whats cool about this, is I can now go low cost and split these and other flashers for Under cabinet and Backbox Green or other, as well as bring into the Back box Flashers and more light!!!!

Under Cab and Back.....Maybe $20-$25, Back Box, a little more, and these were maybe $16.

Ill work on Apron, scoops, and rails next. I think I can do everything, everywhere, any color and change them around all I want for under $100....Im pleased.

I also added a mini figure Terror Dog, and Gertrude, (Librarian substitute) on the playfield.
I might paint the Terror Dog, and he is hollow if one wants to try to light eyes.
Gertrude is new, also a mini figure from Ebay, Purple and clear.

She also mounts with trimmed Velcro, and Lights up nicely, softening the dome Flasher with a nice Purple glow....

Lots more to do, but all lighting can be tapped with 6.3 V Matrix products!

Oh Man, You want me to work for free now in My retirement!

To tap into 5V #89 bulb either use clips or Matrix 2 headed Splitter
1-6.3V 6 SMD PAD or 8 SMD Head for Center Light and Flash.
1 pc 12" Wire
1 6 SMD 6.3 Pad or strip to stick behind stay puff
(or anywhere else...train tracks, left side, under cab)

1-44/47 Natural White No Lens Matrix bulb
1 3" Wire
2-10 SMD Frosted Strips in your choice of color for city.
1 Splitter, 1-2 headed.
1 brightness screw.

This will light the city.

If you want to extend this elsewhere...Backbox, Under Cab or in Game, Grab some more Splitters, Wires and lights....36" Wire Plus to reach.

This is what I used, but because its open and creative, maybe on a Premium, youll want Ice Blue Railroad tracks on the wire ramp, or youll light something different...

Sorry, I hate making kits or lists when its all designed to think for a few minutes like lego, to
pick out colors and shapes....maybe someone wants different colored post lights under the city.

If its confusing, paste this to Ryan or Janet, and ask them maybe to make a kit, but once someone starts changing colors, the kit as a stock number fails, then its emails back and forth....
kinda the reason I retired....

A few more pics....got a Proton Pack from Ebay, around $15.
Nicely detailed, it came with a book of decals too! Storage facility received a nuclear waste symbol on the top of flasher and side, and so many were cool, I figured the lock down bar couldnt hurt.

Proton pack has a light, but left without trying to hack it.
I know it goes on the left, and there is room, but I liked it on the right. Velcro, and theres a hook for the proton wand that fits nice under the screw of the ramp cover to lock in.

It really looks like it belongs there, and more part of the game.

Books, and maybe the ecto 1, and toy mods, other than Mezels firehouse cover, are set.

Got some slime in, and now to cover, if possible, and slime up Slimers Black Box, and maybe arm....

64 Million is my high on the cards....

Got to see some neat tricks on the magna slings last night.

I saw my first game of "catch". Now, I think we all have seen a ball bounce back and forth a few times between slings,
but this is just weird!
It grabs a ball mid flow, like a magnet ball lock, then flings it to the other sling, that locked it, and then went back and forth
about 6 times! The movement was, "Spooky" for lack of another word....it didnt "feel" right, but my jaw dropped as it "defied the laws of physics".
Great Affect, and a big smile when you see this happen.

Also had the slings shoot the ball up the right PK meter ramp, from the same right side!
Dont know how that one worked.

Some new sounds as well.

#16639 7 years ago

Id have to say further along.

At some point both sides of the magna slings stay lit, and it is at this time weird stuff happens.

Does anyone know what it takes to light both slings?

#16662 7 years ago

Well, Heres my story.

I starting working on a Plastic protector for airballs a few weeks ago, and started with a spare plastic that covered the 2 ramp targets.

Our gracious Pinsider, RipleYYY, Made a plastic and posted a template. so this took me to the next step.
A Big Thanks to RipleYYY for getting the ball rolling!

In starting with this, the left side wasnt anchored, and I keep getting plastic lift, slowing the ball down a bit, and eventually one air ball snapped it. This was less the new cover and likely as much the type of plastic I had laying around.
I still wasnt happy and extended it further to keep it from being hit while going up the ramps.

Now for this old guy, I no longer had scroll saws, and bench sanders and wheels...gave them all up a few years ago, so Im left with a Jigsaw, and a $10 harbor freight flex shaft and files.

The first 3 trials had issues, breaks, not covering well enough, and basically 2 hours each one, to fail over 2 days!
Needed more speed, more Lexan, and some power help.

Off to Harbor freight sale, and a little tiny 4"bench grinder, some new clamps, and cutting went faster.

The pic below will show some of the iterations...3 of the 7 I made.

I needed it longer, and had it resting on the metal ramp, but it was always arching a bit.

So to keep it all working, I notched the plastic for the ramp, and worked the anchor points.

The big issue.....Slimer dragging his butt. He has been hitting the metal since day one.
I pulled up some slack, and used the rubber post ring trick, but it didnt stay on long in testing.
Slimer was being a real pain about this. I rounded the edges, and removed as much as I could from the Plastic,
and he "rolls" around the right plastic edge coming out, but is clean going home.

Well I want perfection, and got into the slimer assembly. With a bit of pressure, the set screw came loose, and I raised the whole Arm a quarter inch and tightened. Cool, he is doing a better job coming out now, but not perfect.

So I go under the playfield and pull the whole Slimer assembly...its only 4 screws. So I started with washers, to lift the back, change the angle and move the whole assembly higher. Then 1/4" spacer. 3/4" 1"! No luck.
I bend the metal mounting bracket and repeat all, longer screws, angled spacers....Finally got slimer to not hit anything! Success!

WRONG. No its to high for a ball to hit. I reverse my steps, and test every combo....High enough to not rub, is too high for a ball to hit.

Tweaked it as best I can, and its back to rolling around the edge. Ill get a video up soon.

Grinding, filing, some more pieces, Im covered with Sweat and Plastic, and getting a bit pissed!

I am happy to say though, Ive reached a point where I am happy.
Less worried about Slimer hitting metal and creating wear, it rolls smoothly around the edge.

Notched the plastic for the ramp. and an adjustable hole on the left.

Ordered a bunch of ECto1 Old and New Matchbox, to mount on top of ambulance art, on the plastic.

Not sure about decals, but this is off to Pingraphics, to cut some more by laser, and sample out some art...if needed at all.....
Slime in Green or Purple is on the try list, but can you guys suggest any other ideas of art for the plastic that helps blend?

Very interesting and scary to start disassembling a new game so much!

Play testing tonight with no issues....happy with the results, but here to hear your thoughts and suggestions, so we can get this in production!

Maybe they could add a "kill Pops" double flip, or combo button press...?

#16796 7 years ago

Almost have my game working again....what a disaster!
Ill try to get a thread up or update my old one.

Here is some new pics.

We should have the Plain Pistol shape clear plastic available in proto, by the end of the week, I believe, to get feedback.
Those pictures are out there..not my design, but Many like it.

I modified my first one, and here are pictures in clear, and Mock up detail.

There are some tweaks to the right edge, and 1-2mm further out to cover the targets...minor, but needed next.

I think it looks great raised on 1/4" standoffs, but tomorrow, Ill try another and drop it flat.
The best reason for "Flat" is there is no need to raise your slimer mech or touch it, if you are happy where it is.

I needed to raise mine from the start, as he was butt rubbing.

Hopefully, now, and shortly, Ill be able to share what will be ready for final votes, and maybe there will be two choices.

I can tinker later with some additional lights under exto 1, and see if they are needed. The decal is just photo shopped here, it isnt any final art, but an idea of what it might look like.

The quotes are loaded into the game, I believe 6-8 times more than we heard.

As usual, we are waiting for code to come, to see all that we get......hang in there, a new code release
I believe will be coming....

#16806 7 years ago

Its a by product of the inserts, and the Light board.

When a board, with a 5mm diode with no lens, the light does not spread evenly.

IMO, a bubble lens, would increase the diameter of light significantly, and produced a better result.
The cost would be about 2 cents - 4 cents per board.

Does this look fugly?

gb train (resized).jpggb train (resized).jpg

#16815 7 years ago

Yes it would be perhaps more transparent or ghostly.

Ill print one on paper and see if it blocks thew view, which is a concern, before
I would do a proto.

I have chaser strips, or 45 degree strips, that might work behind it...dont know, just thinking out loud.

Thanks for your feedback!

#16817 7 years ago

True, but that is photoshopped from an online picture, zooming in will pixelate and look bad.

If I make a proto, it would be a photo.

The game in the photo is actually grabbed from someone else, a few posts back.

#16820 7 years ago
Quoted from stpcore:

You can also try printing it on clear vinyl as anything that is white in the image would be transparent on the clear vinyl and it would easily adhere to your plastic. If doing a reverse print on clear vinyl you could adhere it behind the plastic and it would display correctly. I can send you some prototype samples of each if you want to give it a try versus doing flatbed printing directly on the lexan.

Wow, very kind of you to offer, and Ill reread in the morning.....brain dead now.
I have some clear transparency, and clear adhesive, but never thought about reverse printing.

Lets see what happens next, before I trouble you in any way. I first need to see if it will block the view of the lanes.

Additional art needs to be done as well in clean up and changes to match the artwork on the game
a bit more....

My sincerest thanks for your offer to help.

#16835 7 years ago

I have tried Slime, thats the right color but doesnt dry correctly, sadly.
Also bought Green Plastic Food resin, not liquid enough for the affect, and doesnt stick right.
Green Silicone....wrong shade, even when I dyed some clear.

The last thing on my list is to get some Plasti Goop, used in Mattels Creepy crawler set, and I think this will work.

Hard though for production, but Im having fun...although my wife hates my "experiments" in the Kitchen!

Good Luck Ripley!

Quoted from RipleYYY:

btw, i like the idea of the ghost train, but on what transparent vynil can you print correctly ?
my previous attemps are very bad

I did a paper cut out yesterday of about 6 scale sizes to find the right one.
Next step is on removable clear in a color laser, mounted on Lexan, and then Ill make a post.

Quoted from stpcore:

I use a removable and nonremovable clear vinyl by Orafol (Oracal) which prints perfectly but I have a commercial grade Roland printer.
I like using the removable vinyl for prototypes and samples as it's easy to reposition or replace without ruining the decal or mucking up the substrate. The other advantage to removable vinyl is that if at some point you don't want the design on the plastic or prefer something else it very easily peels away with no issue.
If anyone would like to try it let me know and I'll print your artwork for your plastic for free if you dont mind covering the shipping. I'd like to feedback and ideas for this vinyl as well. It will also be contour cut so no trimming on your end. Just peel and stick (remove and reapply if nesessary).

I gotta run, but Ill send you a PM so we might chat....Gladly pay for all your time, and thanks for the offer of help!!!!!

Quoted from Air_Pinball:

Point is, green slime is a bit over done is Ghostbusters marketing, art work, etc....it comes from Slimer being green.....so the slime color itself gets thrown in with that.

I tend to agree, its just most all of the threads and hands on are with the LE right now, and we have been "marketed"
the green in goo, toys, and our game.

In some cases, i want green for personal use, but for what should be a commercial product, to fit with Premiums and Pros,
I agree it should be Pink/pinkish Purple....Blends and compliments rather than contrasts....

However, I think we all see our tastes differently..

I even felt I could add the toy with slime in it as flasher cap and get the slime to light and bubble with a flasher signal!

I am maybe dreaming too much!

I agree, and likely this will happen, as no matter what, some playfield ghosting is not going to be "covered" by Stern.

I have a hairline, on Tobin. For fun, I took a super fine, black enamel paint pen, and ran a stright short line...1/4"
Its gone, cant ever see, but yes, that will wear off over time, without a mylar or sealant layer...not doing that yet.

However, where I have done this on a whitewater, its 2 years now, and at home use, hasnt worn off.

Obviously, this wont cover chips, larger issues, but I got so paranoid, and forced OCD that I dont have, I stare at the inserts
now, checking that a beanstalk isnt growing out of the playfield.

The thin black line can be remved by me with ease, but now, Im not looking....

Some form of Insert Cover, as mentioned by Manimal, may end up being a solution for some......not great, but ghosting or not, still enjoying the game!

#16891 7 years ago
Quoted from nwpinball:

Do you have a brand and finish recommendation? I see Testor's has both gloss and flat black.

Its not something Id recommend you do to your GB, as if you have issues now, or more to come, you first want to see what Stern will do.
Second best, may be a printed decal, and myself or someone will likely make something for a clean straight line.

But if you wish to try, or try on an older game, I went to an art supply store, and they have enamel paint pens in different fineness.
On a Whitewater I have, with planking, and the outlines worn out, for me, I can draw the outline, better with a paint pen then a brush.
After it dried, in high traffic areas, I put removable Mylar on top, and in around Wet Willie, I used a self evaporating clear, as a product test, with good results.

There are several threads, and vid I think has other methods. Its more important to practice a bunch first on and old game, old playfield, etc, before doing this on a GB.

Im more in a retirement/I dont care zone now, and dont want my sometimes bad habits, to be an absolute for someone.

Good Luck!

#16893 7 years ago
Quoted from nwpinball:

Thanks, I was thinking more older games where I have minor wear in the black around inserts.

Gotcha, my apologies for my assumption. For this issue, I use a plastic circle template, and a paint pen, or there use to be decals of just circles, no text.
Others may put a circle sticker on the insert, to protect bleeding, and use a template.

Perhaps there are other ways too.

#16896 7 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

So in other words you haven't waxed your Whitewater in over 2 years. Enamel paint comes off with waxing.

Sure I have, Paul.

I have used both Enamel and Acrylic Paint.
In some areas, I have Mylar over this.
In other areas, I have Everbrite Self Leveling Clear.
In others just the enamel.

Im using P21S Wax, and have not had any paint on the applicator or microfiber afterward.

More then that, I dont know.

I tried the Everbrite to see if it was thin enough in viscosity to fix planking...it kinda does, but not in the way that I feel comfortable to recommend.

Maybe someone else will mess with it, or if I do another, ill reach out to the company.
I know it cleans up with isopropyl alcohol, but once it hardens and sets after a few days, it seems to be quite durable.

Quoted from MustangPaul:

Oh that's good. Sounds like a better wax then I use.

A friend said they released the wax for motorcycles, at a much lower price.

I tried to get them to make disposable wipes.....you know, 1 sheet to wax a pin, and the other side polishes off...
I thought it was a good idea.

I was turned on to P21S by Jack, Alex, and WOZ, and just love its ease, and zero residue.
Unfortunately its not a favorite on Vids list....but I love him just the same.

Have you every tried it? Its wild on GB!!!

#16913 7 years ago

OK P21S has 2 Formulas:

http://www.p21s.com/products/bis_100cw.html

https://www.amazon.com/New-P21S-100-Carnuba-6-2oz/dp/B00CI1D2HM/ref=pd_lpo_263_tr_img_2

ebay.com link: P21s CONCOURS LOOK WAX RECOMMENDED FOR BMW PORCHE AUDI VW CORVETTE FORD JAGUAR

http://www.autogeek.net/p2concarwax.html

Now there is Vids thread on waxes, and he is much smarter then me, and he may suggest a better product.

Meguiar's is a favorite, and I havent used there newest products, which also dont leave any residue.
The debate is always huge on "which wax".

For me, its whenever the timing is right, I hit the center playfield, and a few other spots...3-5 minutes done, nothing to clean, no mess, no over pouring a liquid, etc. I know others will have a different result, or opinion etc.

I dont think that this gets used as much as $40-$60 a jar scares people. So either its BS, high profit, or there really is a reason for the price that translates into a product.

Amazon and Ebay always shop, and they may still make a small oz container.

Mine is halfway gone, 3 years, 15-20 games, so $6-$10 a year is OK by me.

#16917 7 years ago

One is Beeswax and Carnuba, the other is 100%, in a proprietary formula.

There are arguments that say nothing can be 100%.

When I contacted the company and spoke with a rep, they replied, "Thats why its $60, gets rave reviews, its because we
have something no one else has"

BS? dont know...Im using the less expensive one, as the other wasnt available 3 years ago.

You might see if they still offer a small sample jar.....

Many I tried didnt blend in size, art or feel....But to each his own....Just like our houses, clutter, and wives...
They will never be the same, and we all decorate, dress, and marry differently.

I could never say my taste is for everyone, and of course this is alot of still pictures....seeing and playing is different.

I dont want mods that distract, and that too is a unique opinion.

Thank you.

My point is not to say, "Look at me, and all the stuff I added", and I agree, there is always a point of too much and Tacky for everyone.

Im not sure which ones Ill keep, or change, or remove.

The point was to share, We have a Pinsider Making a Terror Dog. Hes doing this to add to the hobby, and two or 3 positions of mounting have been shared. I added him on top, just to share.

The Slime is from Joe at Pingraffix.
The Protector and some cars, will be for sale by me.
The Books are Ebay, and a Brilliant share from another pinsider. I just changed the mounting method.

Lighting and Op-Max spots are from Comet, of course, but Im not in that business anymore so I finally have time to play around. The city can be in Ice Blue or Green, or Just hooked up to the Flashers. Lots of cool lighting work is next.

Add to that are Titans Glow in the Dark Bands, and I highly recommend even if you are an all stock Stern Black Rubber Fan, consider just changing your slings on a Premium and LE, and getting in there and tweaking the leaf switch gap!

Add whatever you like, I just want to avoid the thread into an I like, I hate Mods.....Use the pics if they help.

Quoted from MadPole:

Anybody out there put together a complete list of rubber sizes and quantities for Pro, Premium and LE? I'd like to have the the rings in hand before my premium eventually shows up.

The List on Titan, which followed the manual, failed on a few sizes. I went into unmarked samples.
Youll need more rings in the below 2", some vary.

Quoted from RipleYYY:

the ghost train is very nice, much better than what i got here while DIY (with my poor materials)
and ask : as you have some cars, what about one behind the right captive ball (as in TF) ?

Im working on making a real proto, this was a mock up, so Ill have a better pic in a few weeks, and then can see if there is interest.

The Ecto-1? Maychbox car, available everywhere here...not sure if its still on shelves or made it there...

I wish I could buy just the Proton Beam from the set!!!

#16969 7 years ago

Fast as hell! It screams around and disappears below the playfield!

Pops back up, if no Storage Locks are Lit.
keeping the need for Speed, I now flipper press through all animations.....very satisying!!

#16974 7 years ago

Id Wait.....If its not an LE in Green, it would seem a full color is a year or 2 out?

Blue? maybe?

#16976 7 years ago

i think so too.

Are you thinking Green in a premium or Pro?

#17001 7 years ago
Quoted from Code_Blue:

90% of the time the ball exits out the right side from the pops where sdtm is almost impossible.

Is this on a Pro?

#17003 7 years ago

Paul, youll have to play a Premium, with a Post!

When Both Slings are lit, they are quite active.

A Center Post Bounce like that in multiball, can be hurled by the edge of the magnet field, and for me has made the left Orbit, PKE Ramp,....pretty much everywhere but Storage Ramp!

Ive had a dead bounce stopped in its tracks, to join another ball in "frozen" state, and joined in when playing catch!

Just another crazy addition to the magna slings, that brings a smile when playing for fun!
(and likely an annoyance to a tournament player)

Quoted from Mando:

What was wrong with it ?

Quoted from MustangPaul:

Yeah, Art has tooooo much time on his hands now.

Quoted from Rob_G:

He disassembled it!
Rob

All true! Actually busier, but no one else's stress!
Retirement is great, and I highly recommend!

I had my playfield in full upright, and with no one around, it dropped vertical and then wedged, as a one person panic.
Randy came by, and helped.
We took out the rails, they came off by hand,
They weren't tight, took the playfield out, and started the repairs. It even dropped a second time, while he was here!!!!

Fixed the playfield, although cautious, now.
Had to pull Slimef mech, vuk, diverter to vuk.
I was changing rubbers, so the top was dissambeled, I was testing a variety
Of air ball plastics, and fixing the other.
So the glass has been off, parts all over
the kitchen, and an upset wife.
1 am or so last night, all done, other then new
plastics, glass is on.
I tweaked many switched etc, and real or not,
I think it's dialed in fast and smooth.
Very happy with the game..
Not so happy with Stern support.

#17127 7 years ago

I wouldn't expect it to
Mine was up for 3 days

Our judgement was with the rails bolted through cabinet and the glides on the playfield both being loose, a 1/8 "wiggle" was possible giving enough room to drop.

I have mirror blades, with plenty of room still on either side. I wonder if playfields are a hair narrower on this now that Stern is selling their own?

On other games, I don't have room to add vinyl, without believing they will scratch apart.

Anyway. I share so that anyone with a new game might take 5 seconds and check theirs along with connections.

Quoted from Squall:

Hi Guys! I've got problem with subway ramp in my LE - 50% of time ball cannot go through hole ramp and stop in the middle, than system is searching for ball - and it goes to VUK - do you have the same problem? Anyone? I've noticed ball from time to time is hitting walls inside the ramp and there is not enough speed to exit from ramp. What is wrong with my subway? Thanks in advance for any tips.

Hard to say exactly, but with the playfield up, you can see if all screws are tight, no debris is in the bottom of trail.
Then increase the angle of the game
A few turns of the back leveled has fixed many.
If these don't worl, maybe post some pics or vid, to share more.

Needed on All 3 games, over the targets....

Center Post Set from PBL and LSOG.

I got cut short today with weather, but am finishing up right and left lane protectors, that will also Protect Slings for Premium and LE....Pro a bit later.

Quoted from MustangPaul:

Search for my topic "New LED Leg Light-Ups". You can see many pictures of both mods on games. Then is interested PM me. They both put a whole new light on your games.

What?, Paul? You make light up legs or something?

#17162 7 years ago

I like the "form" of this, and how it would fit in your hand/fingers.....Nice!

#17177 7 years ago

Marco, I believe, and Modfather made his own version...not sure if he released...Unsure of status on Tims work.

#17186 7 years ago

I think one is the library, the other is the plastic?

#17192 7 years ago

Normal the way it is. Dimples even out over time.

You will likely want to make or purchase a protector for the ramps,
and the drop targets usually "break in period"

#17213 7 years ago
Quoted from Danno66:

Howdy Folks! This is my second week of owning a new Ghostbusters Le. I have most of the games problems fixed, airballs and one other are still present. I won't address airballs here because I am buying a protector, the main problem with my machine is that most of the time I get the ball stuck in an endless loop in the pop bumper area around "Gozer the Gozerian". This problem spells out worn playfield and pop bumper rebuild in <2 weeks. Essentially the ball will go between the slingshot, the second pop bumper, the target, and back again for up to 45 MINUTES!! Yes that says minutes. For a plus it gives me time to go to the bathroom and answer emails for a minus it ruins the fun really fast. I wasn't sure of the upload limitations so I filmed a 15 second version and put it on youtube. I should add that I set coil power on Soft and slingshot down to 18 also leveled the machine many times without success. It's running 1.5 software. Any ideas would be appreciated, for now I have disconnected one of the pop bumpers but really I don't like that solution a whole lot... Here's a link: » YouTube video

The only short answers I can think of are to remove the 3 screws holding the city.
Change the rubber on top, going both a hair "looser" or "tighter", and and some wax in the area.
With the city off, see if either of these 2 minor adjustments make a difference, then move to changing the gap in the Pops. There are also 2 single posts with rubbers there, also try tighter and looser rubbers up there.
A subtle change, can result in a bounce change.

When I changed mine to GITD, bounces in the Pops changed, as all the replacements, were "tighter" than\black stock.

1 week later

PBL outlane and Center Post add lots of the "Fun" back into the game, getting you longer times and further progress.
There is so much to do!

Yes, Ill call them training wheels, as after 3 months, Ive taken mine off, and now see the challenges again in its toughness.

But for those that dont want a center post, and different than other side protectors, The one I am finishing accomplishes 2-3 things.

First, its a full sling shot protector on all sides.
Second, it stops lane hops, and is the only one Ive seen that covers both rails.

Lastly, by doing this, if one slits a mini post and puts on rails, it moves, or falls off, but now it can be anchored/glued to the
underside of this plastic to keep it in place.

Heres the one pic I have, I didnt add the rubber, but will fully test when protos come back in a couple weeks.

I think this solves every side rail issue, (Its currently for Premium and LE) preserving lanes, preventing hops, and allowing
a nudge to have more affect.

Absolutely.

How about ESP, awarding extra ball and certain level plus points.

#17401 7 years ago

Always a thought.
But GB still haunts me to play while I'm away.
and my gut says both games say ready to ship from CT, are maybe a year or less away.
Plenty of time.
