Quoted from Rarehero:

Why would it? LCD panels are cheaper than DMDs. Ripping Ghostbusters movie footage is cheaper than animating tons of dots from scratch. They already have aritsts/animators on salary. That doesn't change as the display does. There should be no price increase, IMO. We've been paying for the SPIKE/Color R&D already as the prices have risen for the past few years.

Com on man, I would expect you to understand this more than most. Hi res animations are a whole other beast and a lot more difficult than dots. This will most certainly add cost to the game. You're not just slapping video clips up there, you are now developing hi res animations for everything else. Much more time consuming.

Quoted from iceman44:

Don't worry Boobie, its NOT the same size.

Hopefully its not a JJP sized LCD. I am hoping its closer to the larger Sega DMD size. Then again, I am partial to LCD displays that size on pins.

Quoted from roffels:

who said it will be high resolution?

If its not, then whats the point? Dots are dated. Going to LCD just for color is already an option.

You're gonna have to remove that image if you want to keep the moderators off of your back.

Does that mean we can post pictures of it here now? Because there's a close-up playfield shot that's not on the Reddit post.

Quoted from jamieflowers:

That pictures is there...the one with the extra ball?

No there is a second one.

Quoted from robin:

Please don't. As a courtesy to the team @ Stern I do not want these leaked pics posted on Pinside. Thank you.
Edit: thedude beat me to it!

No problem! I can respect that.

The CAD looks like it is an early rendering as the lower ramp is set up different on the whitewood.

The pictures are out there if you look hard enough. Sometimes even when you don't look that hard for them.

Blah, blah, blah! So much bickering. Let's step away from the display talk for a bit. How about that full color rendering of the pro art? Anyone else see that today?

#4460 8 years ago
Quoted from woodworker:

You mean the one in your avatar?

Lol, no. Im talking about the cabinet art.

#4521 8 years ago

I really hope they reveal this title today! The pro cabinet art is freaking amazing in full color!

Quoted from Whysnow:

if there is something interesting about GB and the leak, please direct us to a general time point. I attempted to listen and could not make it more than 5 minutes in before realizing I dont have 1hr 40min to listen to find some snippet on this topic. If you are going to cross post/ spam then at least do the audience the favor of telling us where in the segment you are going to talk about the subject.

Just poking blindly, it looks like it starts around the 32:30 mark. Whether or not you'll find it interesting, I could not say.

Quoted from yancy:

Am I crazy to consider getting a premium AND a pro, swapping cabinets, and selling the pro?

Certainly one of their distributors has enough pull to have a premium made with a pro cab. Just find out who their largest distributor is and have them make a phone call for you.

Quoted from Concretehardt:

Has anyone heard when we might see a video of the Premium/LE game play? I heard mention that the LE was designed first so I have to assume there is a proto that exists so that game play can be shown.

John said in the live stream yesterday that it would be in a couple weeks.

Quoted from SimonBaird:

Hi Docquest just reread your post and I think you saying that the image will project down onto the googles but then reflect and the ghost will seem to float above the goggle. That makes sense, a lot of post talk about the ghost being below the goggle i.e hovering above the surface of the playfield and the goggle. However the only way I can see it working is if the ghost is hovering above, between the glass and the playfield.

Guys, they are Ecto Goggles. You are suppose to look through them to see the ghost. The image will appear to be floating in the lane when looking through the goggle glass. There will be nothing hovering or projected above or below the goggle glass. The angle of the LCD will give the ghost image the proper proportion so it looks like it is sitting further back in the lane when in fact its just the image on the goggle glass itself. Exactly like a Pin2K.

For those of you who are confused, here is a quick sketch of how the Ecto Goggles work.

Nice illustration! I added to it to make it even clearer as to what folks will be seeing.

Haha, nice! Only thing I would still change would be the line saying Ghost animation. People may end up thinking that the animation is to appear in that area. Still very helpful though for those not quite understanding it!
