Quoted from PanzerFreak:Spot on. These games are luxury items and at $5k-$8k it should be easy as well as convenient to turn them on of all things. I've read posts from a couple users saying they now turn their new games on with the relocated power button using a stick since there games are side by side and they are average height. Then we see mods for $25 or so that put the power button closer to the player...Stern not only made a cost cutting move with these change but then raised prices as well. That's ridiculous!
Hey maybe Stern could charge $50 for an official "Power Stick" game power enablement device. lol
My solution. The remotes for these are mounted on the wall on the way into the Pinball room. Not more stretching/fumbling for rocker switches

Thought I'd drop a few pics of my mods to date on GBLE.
Also a few comments on the game:
- Fun game, lots of variety in the shots
- Fast game. OMG seems faster than ST
- Hard game. Toughest game I have by a mile
- Beautiful game. Just stunning light and sound show too
Dissapointed with the air balls and lane guide caused side drains. I've got the "fix" plastic and center post set on the way. That should help some
In the meantme, I've added a couple of tiny rubbers (stacked) on the inner lane guides. Helps considerably
Only other issue is number of times that the ball hits Stay Puft and rattles around up there on an auto plunge
Mods list:
- shooter rod light
- proton pack
- ecto one matchbox
- speaker light kit
- green T molding
- pingrafix side art

Quoted from Spelunk71:This may be a stupid question, but would it make any sense to install the PBL kit lane guides along with the extended plastic protectors sold by Mezel Mods (which supposedly also correct the lane jumping problem)? Is this even possible? Thanks.
I just installed the PBL lane guide/center post fix. LOVE it!
Edited ... you could install the plastic protectors at same time but it will depend on what configuration you use. Hard to explain but you get about 4 flexible configs with this set. When you choose to add the center post piece and green slimers there is no extra post thread available. I mean like none. I had barely enough to put the nuts on. I'll post some pics soon. If you skipped the center post OR skipped adding the green slimer guides, you could probably do it but not sure (the kit lincludes a clear - non slimer version of the lanes guides that I did not use. This is the piece you would likely use if you wanted to be able to add another layer.

Quoted from Spelunk71:That looks great! Thanks for the info and the pics. I bought the extended plastic protectors but would like the option of adding the center post with the PBL kit. Do you think there is a configuration that would work?
If the extended plastic protectors also use the 2 nuts that hold the existing plastics AND, you only use the center post, then I believe yes, it would work. That would equal (in layer count) essentially what I have as a set up. BTW, that would also give you the lane hop protection as that comes with mounting the center post option. That center post clear piece wraps all the way up to the top of the thickest rail on each side of the outlanes.
Quoted from Rarehero:Pinball Life sells them out as quick as they get them. Clearly the "Designer is Infaliable" concept does not apply. People like challenge, but not unfair and annoying.
I agree 100%
I am an average player. Sometimes I even have a brilliant game or 2. I can post pass, trap, bounce pass, aim with regularity, nudge effectively and more ... with all that said, I can not imagine NOT having this kit. The center post plays a role at least once in each game and the outlane gaurds do a nice job saving most (not all) balls from jumping the wireguides. Remember, that even with the center post installed, you still need to be thoughtful about when to flip and when to "let it do its job" - it's not as simple as just wait for it to automatically send the ball back into play. My personal opinion is that the specific design of this games flipper gap is wide enough to take some of the fun out of the game. The aftermarket centerpost mod kit does a good job adding it back. Scores went from mid 200MM to mid 600MM immediately. YMMV
Quoted from Jdfitzy-in-Aus:T molding looks killer, do you need to glue it back in?
No, carefully pull out old molding (it's seamed at the bottom on each side) then lay the old piece alongside the new, cut to length, cut out the 4 corners, then just "press fit" in!
Quoted from ArcadiusMaximus:Those 'knee pads' go on your elbows good sir...
First one to notice! I checked the images online after I posted that pic and discovered I had them bassackwards ... wondered if anyone would notice
Quoted from kpg:Well guys
I'm officially PISSED.
I didn't think too much of this ghosted insert BS, as my game looked great out of the box.
But this is crap. 3 inserts ghosted over night, and it looks like shit.
The Add a ball, Tobin spirit guide, and extra ball inserts are ghosted very badly.
Haven't even put in a thought on how to go about it from here.. This is unacceptable for a $8,000 purchase when people have made Stern aware of this for a while now.
I'm going to be this is going to happen to a lot of LEs!! Just because it looks good out of the box doesn't mean shit !
Me too ... bummer. Just checked and saw same. My PF was born on July 7th. Game on July 14th

Quoted from Flato:How long have you had it?
Got it July 21st. Set it up immediately.
Guys, I'm struggling getting my slimers butt off the PF parts. Art was kind enough to help direct me to the set screw on top of the mech. I got that loosened (3/32 allen). Then the entire arm can be raised. I was able to get 4mm of elevation vs old mounting position. It definitely helped but did not cure. His butt still drags, just not as much. First pic is standard, next pic is my adjustment
Finally an end to the frustration and pain.
... and first game after install, average score went from 75 to 100MM to almost 500MM
Having real fun for first time since setup. If you are in the "OMG this game is impossibly hard because it center drains like a sinkhole, and I never get to see any of the other modes or multiballs", camp, then I HIGHLY recommend you try the carrot flippers (ordered from Bay Amusements 20-9592-5)
Quoted from PW79:You cheat Dr Jones
... and so pleased the parts and mods were available to do so
Scores are climbing, as is the fun factor
I may close the outlanes next
Quoted from RipleYYY:nice to see you're happy playing GB, simple as that
now, carrot flippers + center post (if this is correct seing your pic) is may be "too much"...
but again, you to know of course, just enjoy and forget all the rest

So I took a real close look at your pics - really nice job on this. I cut a cardboard template tonight. After a few attempts, I got the correct geometry. Cut a piece from lexan and install and voila! it works. Cuts down on airballs a ton.
The ball juuuuust barely touches the back side of it as it climbs the ramp. Not enough to slow it down. Also, note that my Slimer hits his butt on the plastic as he returns to the city .... no change from before because he hit his butt on the black metal even before i added the plastic.
Attached is my template. Print the PDF at full size, NO scale to fit. I've included some measurements in millimeters so you'll know if it printed to scale. Enjoy!

Fixed Slimer butt dragging by reshaping plastic
Fixed ball "touching" the plastic on way up ramp by removing 6MM of material from rear

I'm picking up a fresh sheet of Lexan, I'll be happy to make you one. Might be Sunday or so. Hope your loving it! Can't wait to come over and play Hobbit!
Quoted from Spelunk71:Thanks for posting. Looks like a great solution. Did you use the existing hardware on the playfield to install?
Yes, just used the 2 existing posts/nuts on the black metal captive ball cage.
For the folks asking, I won't be making or selling these, sorry.

2) Fixed ball "touching" the plastic on way up ramp by removing 6MM of material from rear
3) Found a VERY nice jigsaw blade that cuts Lexan like a dream (Bosch Laminate blade - Home Depot)
4) Note to use a 5/32 bit when drilling out post holes
5) Note, Lexan was purchase at Home Depot (8x10, .093)

When you cut it out, the "104MM" side is the side that is closest to the ramp flap as the ball passes underneath and has the greatest chance of the ball touching it as it flies upward - cut that side tight, cut away your trace line ... it's OK if that side is shaved away a little more as it's the back and does not protect against airballs BUT, if left too deep, it could allow the ball to touch on the way up the ramp.

Quoted from ctl723:Thanks for sharing the template! I printed it out and made my own with a scroll saw. I'm still having issues with the ball hitting it on a ramp shot/rollback, but it certainly stops the airballs until a more permanent solution is found.
You're welcome. Did you use my new template?
Edit: looks like you did from the image. Wonder if drilling the left hole closer to rear of piece would allow the entire plastic to then move forward just enough. Mine's not hitting now, at least that I can see ... moves pretty fast up that ramp!

ltcmdrobvious ... what saw brand and blade if you dont mind sharing? I have a brand new Wen brand (#3920) scroll saw I bought just for making PB plastics and some Olson skip tooth 20 tpi blades but found that the blade was so thin (front to back) that is "wandered" a ton as I cut - made for too much post cut sanding. When I was done cutting a straight edge it looked more like I was drunk while doing it.
I finally gave up and cut them with my jigsaw and a special laminate blade - nice straight cuts and fast too.
Any secrets with the scroll saw?
Quoted from RipleYYY:i simply did it slowly & calmy with hand saw, than curved part with a dremel, than finally smooth polish with lime...
ok, need time & swear, but at the end it makes you proud & happy
Swearing helps a ton ... (in any language)
If you are all having the same issue I am with the auto plunge on the GBLE failing about 25% of the time ... here is some video I shot showing why ... now to fix it.

Added the "Dancing Toaster" mod from GBII movie tonight. I bought mine from Hobby Lobby, but you can also get at Amazon/Etsy and other places

Finally ordered, received and modified my 1:6 scale books from Ebay
ebay.com link: 1 6 Scale VINTAGE STYLE BOOKS Set of 10 Prop Books Miniature Book Play Scale
Added some thin cardboard/oaktag weight paper to each book using E6000 to glue it in because each book was naturally "fatter" at the spine and when they were all stacked up, the whole stack leaned (a lot!)
So the extra thick paper I inserted was toward the "open end" of the book so when stacked they would be more flat
Then I used the E6000 to glue each book to each other - then let this dry
Then, importantly and lastly, I used more E6000 to lay a good amount across the open pages side of the stack to literally cement all the pages closed and create a more monolithic tower that could withstand a potential ball hit
Thought it came out great and to attach it I simply used a small piece of adhesive style velcro

I don't think so at all - I think it ties nicely to the movie.
Is it printed on a piece of Lexan?
Can you still see the PKE lanes up top
Updating my mods list for my GBLE.
Added a large Twinkie and added Mephs (Marcellus NY Pinsider) Terror Dog
Twinkie is a lip gloss keychain from ebay. Cut the key chain off, wipe out the (disgusting Twinkie smelling lip balm) and glue the lid back on. Mine came with one of the 3 filling holes "unpainted" - so I had to mod my mod by adding a white dot
Twinkie is velcro attached and Terror Dog is glued using 4 tiny drops of E6000
