I haven't heard the custom callouts that Karl did for ST, but there are definitely times when they can be very effective and add a lot of personality to a game! Raul Julia & Anjelica Huston did a fantastic job on TAF! I have always especially loved the energy that Julia's callouts added to the game.

I can see someone like Dan Aykroyd doing an awesome job on callouts for Ghostbusters! He naturally brought a lot of enthusiasm to that role and I could see his Stantz-isms and other paranormal techno-babble fitting in nicely! If the player was treated as a "rookie Ghostbuster" like in the video game, then the way Dan coached you through the levels would work out well for the pin!

#65 8 years ago

I disagree! While GB II didn't capture the lightning in a bottle that Ghostbusters had, there are still some fun moments and great dialogue in it! The Vigo painting, River of Slime, & Scolari Brothers could all be incorporated well I bet! Especially if ZombieYeti is doing the artwork!!

Nope, he's on The Shadow

#449 8 years ago

This render falls in line exactly with some rumors I had heard about the upper right part of the playfield. This could be incredibly cool with the skyline of buildings and Mr. Stay Puft looming behind them. I also heard that there may be an Insanity Falls-style ramp on the right hand side of the playfield that has a steep drop which sends the ball below the playfield and back up to the right flipper.

Sounds awesome!!

#456 8 years ago

Yeah I think Stern is going to have a huge winner on their hands with this game! So much potential!! I could not be more excited about this machine!

#466 8 years ago

I think the main theme being licensed is probably a given, but I'd love to see some of the other music from the soundtrack and the score utilized as well! The way it was all incorporated into the custom GB pin was great!

#503 8 years ago

Man, that is such a clever idea! Is that actually a rumored feature that has been floating around?

You're probably right about the trap though...

I think this game is going to be incredibly special and one of Stern's best, from what I've seen. Between the beautiful artwork and a truly unique layout, this is a game that Trudeau, Zombie Yeti, and Stern are rightfully going to be very proud of! For a theme I've always dreamed of seeing become a pin, it's refreshing to see so much care and effort put into it!

I'm gonna be so proud to have this be my first NIB machine!

#820 8 years ago

The translite isn't the only thing that has been making the rounds. Such as the sneak peek over at the bottom of Page 9...

#825 8 years ago

Yep that's the one!

#828 8 years ago

No I believe the tracks are meant to be the tracks from the ghost train scene in GBII.

That ramp doesn't appear to match up with what I've seen. Gonna be a combination of plastic and wireform.

#1098 8 years ago

I would love to see Ghostbusters become The Addams Family of this decade of games! Even though those are really big shoes to fill, it seems like the way this game is coming together, it's going to have a great all-around package of theming, artwork, toys, sound effects, etc. that offers the same excitement and charm as TAF.

We're talking colored ramps, subways, drop targets, sculpted toys & "set pieces," EL wiring, double inlanes....all with a unique layout of strategic shots and flow. Should be amazing!

#1101 8 years ago
Quoted from FightNightFZ:

Is this all coming from the posts in the thread or some insider knowledge?
What do people officially know about this pin yet? Or is every single thing still "speculation"?

There have been a couple of pics of the whitewood and a populated CAD model floating around.

#1148 8 years ago

Star_Gazer's concepts were truly fantastic and ones I would have liked to have seen incorporated into the machine, but it seems like the toys are going in a different direction on the final machine. One idea I absolutely loved was the ESP playing cards as drop targets. Brilliant! Would still love to see this incorporated even though the game doesn't have a bank of drop targets. Could still be there as stand ups though.

But the firehouse is definitely there!!

Considering how much complaining goes on about Photoshopped artwork, I would think that the GB translite would be considered a breath of fresh air by most... Everyone's been clamoring for hand drawn artwork to be utilized more and when Stern is able to do so with one of their major licenses (which is a miracle in and of itself), there is STILL complaining!

I certainly can see where some of the faces on the translite seem a little too cartoonish or not up to Zombie Yeti's typical standard, but I still feel like it's a damn beautiful design and is like 98% there. Hand drawn art is well....a true art form and there is a huge amount of skill and effort involved. I certainly respect the vision and effort that has been put into that translite. I think it captures the essence of the films wonderfully and I will have no problem whatsoever purchasing one of these machines if that is the final design. If it's a fun game with a great layout, toys, lighting, sounds, callouts, etc., I don't see how that translite could be a deal breaker for someone, but to each their own!

I'm just excited that after 30 years we're finally getting a GB pin and so far it's shaping up beautifully! It's a wonderful time to be a fan of pinball!

#1243 8 years ago
Quoted from cait001:

The pacing of the ESP scene certainly lends it to skill shot material.

Ha! That's a great idea!

Quoted from pinchamp:

Anyone have any real evidence here? Will they start the new year off with a bang (I hear there were 100,000 marshmallows ordered for something). True?

Very interesting rumor about the marshmallow order! lol Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there is any for-certain evidence that GB will be revealed at CES, except that if there really is going to be an LCD in the machine, then that would be the show to unveil it at.

I guess we'll find out next week.

#1342 8 years ago
Quoted from mnpinball:

So anyone confirm this as GB ?

GBPF_(resized).jpg

That's a bingo!

And what I love about it is that there is plenty of room for Zombie Yeti's beautiful artwork! So much potential!

#1367 8 years ago

Not quite...you're looking at double inlanes on both sides with the outer lanes draining.

The narrow cutouts are indeed all for switches. What's really cool though is what the two oblong cutouts below the outlane inserts are for... EL proton streams that run up along the walls of the playfield.

#1395 8 years ago

Yeah, unless something major has changed from the CAD model (which doesn't appear to be the case from the whitewood that is seen above), there isn't an upper playfield.

I will say, however, that there seems to be a lot going on above the trio of pop bumpers (in the form of molded skyscrapers) and I am not sure if there is a way that the ball might end up there somehow. I could be reading more into it than what appeared on the CAD though. It just looked like there were some carefully designed openings around the buildings that could allow a ball to fall from up there.

#1403 8 years ago
Quoted from PinBalt:

BD Designs, based on your knowledge is the Stay Puft Marshmellow man just a background toy/mold that does not interact with the ball ?

That's a good question. I don't know anymore about that toy than what can be seen in that rendering. My initial thought was that he'll just be a background toy and won't interact with the ball, but I am curious if his left arm might be used to knock the ball off the ramp. It seems like the building plastics in front were very carefully designed so he could be seen and/or interact with the ball.

But I might be reading too much into that. Honestly, I'm just glad that he is indeed a sculpted toy and that he isn't a huge bash toy in the center of the playfield. The upper right corner is a great spot for him and I love how he's going to linger behind the building plastics that give him a sense of scale.

I can see where if the LE is a Slimer themed art package and everything is neon green, then the Ecto-1 light bar might not look great up top. But that's just a personal visual preference of mine... Some folks might not have a problem with the blue and green colors clashing.

An Ecto-1 themed topper could be awesome with the Pro translite/art package or whatever the Premium looks like, however!

I love the idea of the speaker panel being designed like the grill and headlights of the Ecto-1 with the light bar serving as the topper!

Something kind of like this:

(Full credit to Star_Gazer for the mockup of the cabinet and topper. My apologies for not including that earlier as I couldn't remember who had originally posted that rendering. I just wanted to help visualize what the Ecto-1 would look like in the speaker grill.)

#2372 8 years ago

Oh I'm sorry about that Star_Gazer! My apologies! I couldn't remember who had posted that rendering originally. I also didn't mean to imply that I came up with the whole topper concept like you had. I just wanted to show what the speaker grill could look like with the front of the Ecto-1.

I've edited my previous post with credit to you for the mock up! I love your work and ideas for this game!

#2437 8 years ago

I think the LCD that may be in the game is going to be a small one that simulates the Ecto Goggles. Something along the lines of the small "TV" screen mods people have added to their Twilight Zone or Addams Family machines.

There does not appear to be a screen embedded in the playfield a la Lexy Lightspeed or FT/Alien.

#2449 8 years ago

Ernie Hudson would likely be willing to do callouts! I met him a few years ago and he was such a nice guy!

I would still love to see Aykroyd do some callouts though since he had some great enthusiasm and lines in the film!

#2507 8 years ago

It appears the projection would be above the playfield, but farther in the back near the pop bumpers.

#2509 8 years ago

That's an interesting question! It would be incredibly cool if they are so you could "cross the streams!"

I had just assumed that they would be static, running up the length of the playfield... But if they are motorized, well that just adds a whole another awesome element to the game! Heck, I was just glad to see that some EL wiring will be in the game!

#2516 8 years ago

My interpretation of the proton streams seen in the CAD model was that it was a clear light pipe with EL wiring wrapped around it. I figure that the light tube will have yellow light shined into it while the EL wires will be blue. That would replicate the proton stream effect.

The tubes are way too narrow for projection, imo. There is a separate "housing" near the back that will likely be the projector for the Pepper's Ghost effect.

And yeah, there does appear to be a fire button on the lockdown bar.

#2520 8 years ago

Nope, this doesn't look nearly as intrusive as the Pin2k projection glass. In fact, the GB one is barely noticeable. I sure didn't see it the first time I looked at the CAD. It's small...only 2-3 inches wide it appears.

#2523 8 years ago

Well, the whole device is not in the apron at all. It's much farther up the playfield near the pops. Looks like they've found a way to use a small LCD and create a Pepper's Ghost projection via a reflector in the housing that the screen is in.

And the housing is very cleverly going to represent the Ecto Goggles!

#2714 8 years ago
Quoted from bigd1979:

I agree how do we know anything .... that leaked picture may not even be for this or anything. Ive never seen such crazy speculation and rumors on a pin lol. We have directional magnets, flying ghost, underground ramps filled with slime, giant walking marshmallow man and proton packs shooting lasers destroying pinballs lmao.

It's not as much speculation as you think. Just because the photo of the raw playfield is the only one that's popped up on here, it doesn't mean that's the only photo people have seen. There have been images of a CAD model and a populated whitewood floating around...just like the Pepper's Ghost projections that will likely be floating around the final playfield

The underground ramp, Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and proton streams aren't being speculated on. People have seen them...

Quoted from bigd1979:

I really hope you all are right bc its a title I want but I know not to set my expectations higb bc its never like anyone expects or speculates it to be. Remember its a business and they need to make money and from what has been mentioned this pin will have to be 7k for a pro and even more for a full version for it to be viable.

If the final product turns out to be close to the CAD, I think we're in store for a very fun and special game! This is also a title I have been dying to see for quite some time and as a huge Ghostbusters fan, I don't think people are going to be disappointed. There seems to be a lot of love for the fans and the franchise being poured into this game. It is very obvious that Mr. Trudeau and Zombie Yeti have gone all in on this game and I cannot wait to see the final results!

Very exciting time to be both a GB and pinball fan!

#2814 8 years ago

I also think that the Ecto-1 cabinet art is by far the best version! The terror dogs also look better in the lower right corner of the translite rather than Slimer. I really hope that the Pro cabinet art (or something similar) might be used for the Premium. The combination of that artwork with a fully featured game is going to be the way to go!

This game is gonna rock!

#2828 8 years ago

To John Trudeau, Zombie Yeti, (and preemptively, Dwight Sullivan):

Awesome, awesome work gentlemen!! Looks like a masterpiece, even in the design stage!

#3122 8 years ago

I'm curious what people think about the translucent ball/box shaped object that is seen between two of the left hand molded buildings above the pop bumpers? I have been wondering if this is alluding to a ball being up there considering there is an opening over to the right hand side of the buildings that could allow a ball to drop back onto the playfield from up there.

Any thoughts?

Oh and note the black "Ecto Goggles" housing just inside the upper left ramp... There is a plastic below it that could serve as a projection screen for the Pepper's Ghost effect.

#3126 8 years ago
Quoted from moondrummer78:

The translucent ball is just a reference point to ensure that should an airball find itself in that nest of buildings that it would be able to fall back onto the playfield.

Makes sense! Thanks!

Well, looks like I shouldn't have gone out to lunch today! Hated to miss a look at some of the inserts! But it sounds like they're making great use of some of the films' awesome quotes!

#4150 8 years ago

Listen! You smell something...?

#4274 8 years ago

Agreed. From what I have heard, the leaks were definitely not intentional. I honestly don't think Stern is very concerned about what its competitors are working on or when their games are being released to have gone to all the trouble to "leak" Ghostbusters. It's hard enough work cranking games off the line like they do and running a factory of that size. Seems like Stern does just fine minding their own business and focusing on their own projects so when they're ready to be revealed, they'll do so.

Looking forward to the imminent GB announcement!!

#4756 8 years ago

There are SO many great quotes from Ghostbusters (that could also be used as humorous pin callouts), that I would be extremely surprised if they didn't use the actual dialogue from the films. Seems like there are enough lines that could work well for the pin that they wouldn't need to record additional voice actors, especially if they got Ernie and Dan to do the custom callouts needed.

#4801 8 years ago

Dwight Sullivan on code! Gonna be a great game by the looks of it!

#5426 8 years ago

Man it looks so awesome! Everything I could have ever hoped for with this theme!

Cannot wait to see this in person and play it!!

#5528 8 years ago

Absolutely gorgeous work, Jeremy! You have raised the bar incredibly high with this art package! Thank you for doing such amazing justice to a dream theme for so many of us pinheads! Your work on this machine will be held in very high regards in pinball history and it's going to be my first NIB pin!

Well done and thank you!!! This will just be the beginning of your pinball career!

#6010 8 years ago

Already got my topper in-hand! One of the few original costume pieces left intact!

Actually, I might have to sell it to afford this machine...lol

I agree! I think these look awesome, particularly the black armor. There's just about as much detail in these as there typically is on the upgraded armor kits from Stern.

These will be an especially nice upgrade for the Premiums and I love how it's going to look like they're firing at Stay Puft on the backbox!

#9354 8 years ago

Looks like there is an improvement to the light show & sound as it builds up to multiball, some new dialogue and animations for the Sedgwick Hotel mode, and I think I heard a few new callouts/quotes scattered in there as well.

The game is just phenomenal! Cannot wait to own it!
