Starting an official SoCal thread... also, if anyone is interested, I started a group on FaceBook called

    "Los Angeles Pinball"

    #16 10 years ago

So who snagged the $2100 CFTBL on craigslist yesterday?

    #21 10 years ago

    Thank you sir!

    #26 10 years ago

Is it going to be called "Pinball Land"? Any other details? Scheduled open date?

    #43 10 years ago

I wish someone would get Family to stop posting on CL every single day. So annoying...

    #47 10 years ago

Interesting deal in PHX - 1979 "DISCO 79" cocktail table pinball machine - $250

Those people looking for pins - make sure to check out the below - this is the best place to find locations:

    http://pinballmap.com/la

So far no Trek in LA, but 4 Metallicas.

I also love their Twitter feed, you find out when things are added.

The PinballMap and Pinfinder apps are good too!

Comic Hero University is the bomb, yo!

In the market for a used STTNG Beta ramp if anyone has a lead...

    1 month later
    #205 10 years ago

Sure got quiet here... nobody talking about the new ST Pro at the Century 8 theatre in Van Nuys...?

    #214 10 years ago

I went to the Century 8 theatre last night and played the Trek Pro. Listed it on Pinfinder and PinballMap.

They let me in w/o buying a ticket. Arcade is set up for tokens. $5 for 25. Game is 3 tokens / play.

Game plays better than any Stern recently released other than maybe Metallica. Though I don't have a lot of time playing a Metallica Pro, only the Premium and LE. The TILT is WAAAAY to tight. The game actually tilted itself when the ball was in the pop bumpers once. The PF is showing a lot of dimpling. Also, during Vengeance multiball, I had a ball get stuck above the magnet, tried to rock it out and of course, TILT. Grrr.

Other than that, I really enjoyed the play. The shot pattern is awesome and proven. I'm not a big fan of the art and sound package or the modes. The modes and sounds just aren't as fun as TNG. The warp ramp and loops really whip the ball around!! Good luck making sequential warps or "Picard maneuvers". I miss the cannons and neutral zone, but the addition of locking the ball directly into the ship instead of from the ramp on the side really adds a fun level of gameplay. My favorite change... wow, that ship really fires the ball back at you FAST.

    #218 10 years ago

I can confirm, after playing a Trek LE yesterday, that this machine is NOT using new code. The code on the LE was 10x better. After completing one of the modes, re-running it brings up NEW animation. Its brilliant. I would have to say, the LE is probably the best Stern game made, although it would be a close run w/ Tron, Metallica and AC/DC.

Aurich - saw your new Shadow translite installed in a game on Sunday. Solid upgrade.

Casey's Cave is finally getting around to holding their second pinball tournament event. This will be another standalone tournament and will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 5:00. The format will be a random, double-elimination event with cash prizes for the top spots. $10 entry covers all the pinball you want to play before, during and after the tournament. There will most likely be some of Casey's amazing beer on tap and some "light snacks".

NOTE: this is just for fun and not tooo serious. You don’t have to be a pinball wizard – all skill levels are welcome!

Please forward this invitation to any pinheads or budding pinheads you know. If you’re in a pinball league already, please also give your league a heads-up for them. Thanks.

P.S. Previous top-place winners will not be eligible for the full cash prize if they place first again. Payouts will be reconfigured to even the playing field.

When: Saturday, February 1, at 5:00

Where: College Business Park, 1318 Monte Vista Ave, Suite 19, Upland (corner of Foothill and Monte Vista; one building down from the very northeast corner of the complex)

    <Posting on Molly's behalf>

This Friday PNN will host a special fundraiser for Barry Oursler, legendary pinball designer. He and his wife have been hit pretty hard with medical bills, and pinballers across the land are coming together to help him out. Keith Elwin is coming up to run the event, the IFPA is providing full WPPRs in support of it, and it's a great way to give back to the hobby that has given us so much. I don't usually get all "serious" on you folks, but you should really try and make it out for this: the match play tourney will be a lot of fun, and we'll have side events happening to raise some extra bucks for Mr. Oursler. PNN keeps zero that night, even the coin drop goes to the cause, so even if you can't commit to the full night do drop in and at least say hello! $20 buy in, 50% to Barry, 50% to the pot.

SEATS ARE FILLING UP faster than I thought, so if you'd like to join the fun you'd best let me know ASAP, email or text is fine. If I have your RSVP via email already count yourself in; if we only had verbal communication regarding your attendance, it's probably best to secure your spot once again.

Los Angeles Area Python Anghelo Benefit Tournament — March 15, 5:30 doors / 7:00 start

Casey's Pinball Mancave will host a special IFPA-sanctioned fundraiser for Python Anghelo, legendary pinball artist and designer. Sadly, Python has been in a long and costly battle for his life, and due to his chemo and radiation treatments over the last couple years has been very limited in his ability to do creative work. The IFPA will be providing full WPPRs in support of this event.

The Mancave will be donating all proceeds to the cause, so even if you cannot commit to the tournament, please stop by and get your game on for only a $10 contribution so you can still flip some money to a good cause!

We will have some unique pinball memorabilia as well as Pinball Mancave glasses available for silent auction to earn further proceeds.

Additionally, we will be accepting any and all donations of items for the silent auction. Please contact Adam Davis for more information.

    MATCH PLAY TOURNAMENT DETAILS:
$20 Tournament buy-in, 50% to Python, 50% to the pot. The winner will also receive a $150 gift certificate from Pinball Inc., which is helping to sponsor the event through the IFPA!!!

If you have a pin with art or design by Python Anghelo and you would be willing to bring it to the event, please contact us. We would love to have some of his amazing work on display. The classic Pinbot is already in the line-up at Casey's Pinball Mancave.

Casey’s Pinball Mancave will be hosting its monthly tournament this Saturday (the first Saturday of every month, rain or shine, is tournament night at the cave). Everyone is welcome, whether you play in the tournament or not.

$10 donation covers ALL the pinball you want to play until doors close.

For those who are interested, they will be running their third IFPA-sanctioned tournament for an additional $5 buy-in. The tournament will start at 8:30 and they will take a vote on the format – either (1) play all machines once and the top three aggregate scores win, or (2) standard double-elimination tournament. Either way, the top three players will split 100% of the buy-in on a 50-30-20 breakdown. There is no coin-drop.

They will also be doing a 1-ball tournament on the side. The game will be World Poker Tour and it will be coin-drop (this machine only – 50 cents for 1 ball). First place winner chooses any of the following items, then second place chooses one, then third place chooses one. All winners get a free Mancave glass (yes!).

    – Pinball Arcade Terminator II t-shirt (L)
    – X-Box version of Pinball Hall of Fame, The Williams Collection
    – PS3 version of Pinball Hall of Fame, The Williams Collection (2 available)
    – Flyer (many available)

Please note that tournament entry is entirely optional. Folks who just want to come play some silverball and/or drink some homebrew are ALWAYS welcome!

    Formalities:
When: Saturday, May 3; doors open at 7:00, tournament starts at 8:30
Where: Casey’s Pinball Mancave, College Business Park, 1318 Monte Vista Ave, Suite 19, Upland (corner of Foothill and Monte Vista; one building down from the very northeast corner of the complex)
Costs: $10 suggested donation includes all-you-can-play pinball (as always, there is no additional coin-drop!); optional $5 tournament buy-in
    Casey’s homebrew -> $4 suggested donation
Cave glasses -> $5 suggested donation

Hey guys! I posted in the main forum about inheriting a pinball game from my grandma. It was working and was able to play games until yesterday when I turned it on and now just the lights turn on. I’ve been trying to troubleshoot myself, but would love an experts help. Is there anyone local (I’m in Camarillo) that could pass down some knowledge?
    Thanks!
