Quoted from rcbrown316:alright I have a possibly dumb question. are there machines for sale at this event? my main objective for going to events is to buy stuff
It's not that kind of show.

It's not that kind of show.
Can we buy daily passes at the door, and will they be the same price? (listed at $29.99 on the site)
How does this work (the banks).
Is that division a/b/c/d left to right? Or will all players end up dipping into all 4 banks?
Since the trophy goes everywhere I go, that's a given.
But I am pretty unfamiliar with maybe half the games on that list. But I've got an Argosy in my apartment!
Quoted from neurokinetik:Each group of four (typically, might be less in some cases) players will play all four machines in the assigned bank for their round.
Ok. So my group could end up playing Avengers, Aquarius, Addams Family, and Haunted House.
Any idea how many different banks we'll end up playing a day?
Quoted from DarthXaos:I played it in the tournament, so there was.
The place was fn huge and it was very possible to not find a game you were looking for.
I thought the advertised Argosy wasn't there...looking around for it all week...and didn't see it until exactly 1:30 am last night. There it was! Just revealed itself to me.
Great event. I do hope that Papa stays at PAPA and this stays downtown, but understand why they would do it this way for everything if they could. Downtown certainly costs a bit more for people to attend but I do like the location as far as bars and hotels.
I finished 17th-28th in B. There were some excellent players in B. I lost to guys who really should have been in A, but that being said I didn't exactly try too hard to qualify for A (preferred to try my luck in B) so all's fair. I like the differences in PAPA and pinburgh. PAPA is a bit lower pressure as you have plenty of chances to qualify and better your scores, and you are more likely to play people of equal level as ranking restricts many of the players who were in B at pinburgh into A. But pinburgh is a much more exciting and social tournament, as it's all match play. The mix of games is much more interesting as well.
My biggest thrill was winning a tie-breaker on Surfin' Safari late Friday to qualify in B after a disastrous post-lunch 3 score round and a mediocre 6 score final round. Always so exciting to have a big game in a clutch situation, and really rewarding. Everything after that was gravy considering I thought I was done.
I am doing much better on the EMs but my biggest weakness was early Bally digitals and the System 11 stuff absolutely devoured me all week. As I really LIKE those games and have plenty of experience on them I think I need to practice a bit more of that stuff before next year and get out of DMD/ball save -land a bit prior so I'm better prepared.
Quoted from DarthXaos:You know what's fun about Sunday? Going to the machines we just watched the finalists play the hell out of in finals like Hot Tip and seeing what we can do on them. Not just the same title but the exact same machine.
Wasn't there sunday but by 11 saturday night they had the A-bank available to play until 2 am.
Quoted from sohchx:Allot of the pins had the sound either all the way down , or to low to hear and that disappointed me a little. It made it harder for me to decide which pin I wanted to add to my collection next lol. Music and sound is one of my final determining factors when it comes to a pin purchase.
When you have an entire hall filled with games that are all next to each other, along with hundreds of people talking, it's gonna be hard to really get that hi-fi audio experience you are looking for.
Quoted from ninjadoug:There are tons of great restaurants near the convention center to try out (I recommend Tenpenny) but the convention center limits what we have the ability to do food wise.
Teapenny is horrible. I got the worst turkey club I've ever had in my life there. The sad, tepid slices of turkey tasted like they had been on vacation in the Dead Sea. Even the fries were way saltier than they had to be.
Bill's Burger at the Westin had much better food. Good burgers, and surprisingly enough, good sushi. Tonic across the street also had good food, along with the meatball joint.
Quoted from LBJ:90% of the games there were owned by ReplayFX/PAPA & to my knowledge not for sale. Mark Steinman would be the one to talk to about any specific game inquiry for purchase.
Word on the street is that many of their oldies (woodrails) are for sale if you ask. Nobody plays them.
Quoted from DarthXaos:They should do a side tournament on the frosted glass games
They did at PAPA. I believe the stakes were pretty low, like a t-shirt or something.
Quoted from initfo:Not to brag, but if you stayed at the Hampton down the street, parking was free.
Dude , that kind of park boasting is simply uncalled for. Have some class.
Everything close to the convo center is gonna be pricey. I stayed at the courtyard at $160 a night all in. I think that's about what the westin costs. And no free parking we ended up at a nearby cheapo lot.
If anybody got a room cheaper than that within a couple blocks of the convention center I'd love to hear about it. No bragging please!
