That’s terrible. I’m just glad that octopus are quickly, humanely killed and eaten by marine wildlife.

I don’t share this story often, but here goes.

When I was a kid, my friend and I went rafting on Lake Travis. He fell overboard, and as he was swimming back, an octopus took hold of him and started devouring him. He had been eating wings, and a bottle of Cholula tipped over the raft and smothered him in hot sauce. The octopus really seemed to enjoy it.

So I agree with you, we should treat all animal and sea life with dignity and respect. But I’ll never forget that fateful day.
