Great stuff!!! Looks like the vast majority will be in on Friday!!

Man, I am getting pumped! 1 week from today I will be heading over to load in!!!!!

MRP has turned what was typically one of my least favorite times of year (end of summer slump) into one of my favorite. Anyone else with me?

    #402 10 years ago

A few folks have PM'd to ask about more rewarding objectives (for example must start multiball on RC >> which is pretty difficult on 3 ball play) but concern about the objective being tough for even a good player to complete in 3 balls and the inability to carry over progression between games.

If you want to out a game on 5 ball or X ball in order to make an objective that would not carry over between games more accomplishable that is totally acceptable also.

We can set games to whatever works for golf and then just need to remember to switch them back to 3 ball for BRAWL.

    #403 10 years ago

keep in mind that it is best to make tasks that are accomplishable by a good game in 3 balls just to keep play moving along!

RC is tough and quick so ball times will be short no matter what!

    #404 10 years ago

I'll be there late afternoon/early Friday evening to help setup. Can't wait!

collect in the game saucer, relight with ramp shot. do 5x. not as easy as it sounds as the game is a ball drainer.

    #408 10 years ago

Should make up sheets to tape to backglass with how to accomplish goals.

For Example: Collect 3 cities on WCS 94

To light cities: Shoot left orbit and light both lanes on top.

    OR

To light cities: Shoot left AND right ramp EACH one time.

To Collect cities once they are lit. SHOOT LEFT ORBIT.

Lighting all three lanes on skill shot will also award 1 city collected.

In on Friday around 330p with RS and my cart.

You tape any shit to my machine Im gonna Rochambo you...

    #411 10 years ago

I was planning to have small tutorial cards to help folks understand each objective. We can stick them under the glass on games. I will cut some that fit the normal instruction card slots.

Epoxy it right to thelockdown bar. Excited for this tourney.

    #415 10 years ago

Maybe this will get some people excited...
I hope you guys like what you are playing for? They took a considerable amount of time to make and each one is unique. I personally think this is a pretty cool set of trophies, but I am obviously slightly biased.

    Look amazing.

    Quoted from CaptainNeo:

love it. Looks like a crack pipe as well.

Sorry Neo, they are not hollow so you will have a tough time smokin rocks

My good friend that made them actually makes his living making 'tobacco' smoking pipes >> Actually one of the biggest in the midwest and employees ~7 professional glass blowers now.

He offered to make them out of tube but I opted for solid glass since we have a few younger players in the competition and wanted to keep it PG-13.

They are also glued to the base so you wont be able to use them as a g-spot tickler on the wife either. My buddy makes those devices also if anyone wants his info fro some custom glass work...

He sometimes sells pipes and pleasure devices in a package deal just so he can use the slogan "Get high and go F*&! yourself" It always puts a smile on your face

    #427 10 years ago

don't worry mark, i will be right there with you (watching from the side lines as Ian takes the trophies)

    #428 10 years ago

I like to keep things crystal clear and out in the open for all to see...

Total $$$ raised for Erica at this time:

    48 people X $25 registration fee = $1200

+ $150 for half of FH pf I sold (part of the "Tommy sale" where half went to Don and half to Erica fund)

+ $50 in other donations from people not coming that wanted to pitch in

    = $1400

minus $300 for the glass trophies (I have another $75 in wood and tags that I am just donating)

    = $1100

My ultimate goal is to make it to $1500 total to donate to the Erica fund. I am hoping that the mini-event ($5 for each ticket > play 2 games per ticket; 'PAPA style' if I can get the software to work how I think it will) plus the raffle for prizes (1 ticket for $5, 3 tickets for $10, and 7 tickets for $20) will put us over the goal (fingers crossed).

    cheers

    #429 10 years ago

I'm going to try and have the mini pin done but I underestimated the work for TAF and I'm backed up. So if doot decides he doesn't want to buy TAF anymore ill give that away. If he wants it then I may have to just give an I owe you and you hook me up with email and you they could choose anyone of the mini pins I can build which would probably be better as not everyone cares for kiss.

    #430 10 years ago

no worries and thanks just for supporting the cause!

I tried to match things up with skill balanced 4 packs. My hope is that this will result in a more even flow through the games and also promote some new friendship and skill transfer from more advanced players with novice players.

The list is of course subject to small tweaks but should be pretty solidifed.

I still would like the mini-pin, but I'm in no big hurry either so if you want to use the one you were going to have ready for me, that's ok with me. I can get one later sometime at the monthly league night when you get it done. It's up to you, just let me know.

Makes sense to me. What do you put in for round of play though?

    #436 10 years ago

Quarterfinal = 1st round (8 teams per division to start)
Semifinals = 2nd round (4 teams per division remaining)
Finals = 3rd round (only 2 teams per division remaining)

Mini-event has been decided after messing around with the Scott Danesi tournament software to make sure it will work how I want it.

Mini-event will feature 2 games that are not part of pingolf or brawl. $5 gets you a ticket to play one time on each game. Buy as many tickets as you want to play while time allows. Mini-event will end AFTER pinbrawl, so people that lose out early on brawl have some games to play/competition to keep busy with . Exact time of end of qualifying to be determined on day of event and will be announced ~1 hr prior to final qualifying cutoff.

"PAPA style" scoring where each ticket is independent and EVERY ticket treats you like a unique individual. All tickets count. Your best ticket is what matters for your final position.

~50% payout (other 50% to charity)
    1st - ~20%
    2nd - ~15%
    3rd - ~10%
    4th - ~5%
Assuming time allows there will be a single game playoff for qualifying positions 1-4 and 5-8.
Games played by each respective cohort to be decided by a coin toss.

Post playoff, final positions reported to IFPA for mini-event results (1-4 and 5-8 can reshuffle based on playoff game; 9th through ? based on final qualifying position)

So is there ifpa points even if you don't place 1-8 sorry I'm confused on this one.

yes, treated like every other "classics" style event.

I believe it is worth half of the main event???

Goal sheet and a spot for some notes to help people understand how to accomplish the objectives.

I will have hard copies along for each game owner to fill out and place under the glass in place of the pricing card.

Feel free to fill one out and bring it along.

    An example for FishTales...

This is likely a bit more complex in nature than most goals should be, but fish tales is a very straight forward game compared to many.

    DOC091113-0001.jpgDOC091113-0001.jpg

    #445 10 years ago

An example of a more straight forward one...

    for TAF

    Goal:
    Start 4 mansion rooms
    AND
Make at least 1 skill shot

    Cliffy Notes:
Light mansion room by hitting either ramp shot.
Start mansion room by hitting chair or swamp shot.

Skillshot is a soft plunge to top of shooter lane and into thing hand scoop hole at top right of playfield

    #446 10 years ago

    Thinking out loud here...

I like the idea of having feature-based goals in principle, but a difficulty we might run into is how to ensure a player has truly completed those goals.

On FT, there's no indicator or instant info page indicating you played Feeding Frenzy, started multiball, or played the video mode and took out 15 boats.

On TAF, starting 4 mansion rooms can be easily seen (just check the mansion inserts).

On WCS, doesn't the instant info indicate how many goals you've gotten?

You'd have to have a scorekeeper or another player watching to ensure that it happened. But for this pin-golf we all have a partner who is motivated to ensure we meet goals as quickly as possible, so as to get a good ranking (last two pingolfs I played in didn't have that). Considering the way the groups work, I think those feature goals are doable.

    I like it.

    #447 10 years ago

Everyone will be playing in 4 packs for pingolf (2 teams per foursome) so there is hopefully no need for any scorekeeping and everyone will be kept honest by the other team. I really hope people would be kept honest because cheating is just no fun!

The plan is also to set up pingolf games so each 4 pack is able to see what is going on and stand with good sightlines to the game. Players will get some room, but be prepared that this is not going to be a formal 6ft radius where nobody is near a player or in a perhipery like you would find at a normal pump and dump event (or like MRP was last year).

My hope on the FT example is that people will be able to easily tell when feed fenzy starts or when multiball starts at they are very obvious. Video mode should be easy to see if someone starts it and again the honor system is important to see how many boats sunk (it tells you right at the end). This isn't Illinois, so no fibbing (I can say that since I am technically a transplanted FIB).

    #448 10 years ago

If my FT example just seems like too much I am of course open to feedback. I do appreciate your insight Jon!

My real plan it that lots of tweaking will go on during the Friday night preparty with the people that are bringing games. One of the benefits of bringing a game is obviously that you also get a chance to practice the night before and lend a hand with goal determination/tweaking of stuff to make the event hopefully run more smoothly.

    #449 10 years ago

I think it could be hard for me to keep track of all of those things in my head but that's just me maybe the other 3 could be watching really close to see if I had completed something or if the player calls out something co pleted when they hit it so the players are making sure of it. I don't know just thinking out loud. If there's to many goals or ways to do it it'll get confusing and then we mite see extra time wasted on games for people that don't know a machine well.

    #450 10 years ago

    OK

Sounds like I/we should simplify the goals more so people only have to focus on one thing instead of options. It is really tough to make goals for games I own and know really well...

    Maybe for FT

"Start mutiball and score 1 jackpot" or "score 50million on 1 game"

May have to adjust the number of balls for a game??? I guess we will see after Friday night how people do with certain goals and adjust from that point.
