My HW arrived yesterday. Great job guys. Now to rewatch the Deadflip streams with Rosh and start working on my scores.

Loving this game! So fun when you have the RPMs up with multiple modes stacked.

Quoted from cottonm4:

Ferret,
Is the ball getting caught up there a feature or an oversight? If it is a feature then you are golden. If an oversight, you need to have another look or this ball hanging action will become a regular part of HW owners' conversation; And this super pin will be tagged with this forever.
Yes. the game was level. We had just got it set up a couple of hours earlier. We put the digital level gauge to it and while two of us held the pin off the floor and the third guy was under the machine getting the leg levelers adjusted.
This hangup happened 3 times the other night on my friend's HW. A couple of times the nudge had to be quite spirited to get the ball back in play. It will not stop me from buying a HW when the time comes, but if this action was not part of the blueprint design it should be corrected; Or at least looked into.
From what I could see, the ball guide appears to be too short. But I am not your engineer with hours of time spent designing HW. Whether is was a design oversight by your engineer or perhaps your supplier did not read the blue print correctly is beyond me to say.
But you are not building airplanes ( where every blueprint change has to be approved by the FAA which can take months ). A minor drawing change to add a small length of extra material and a call to your suppler could be accomplished in a couple of days; If the ball guide is the problem.
Hopefully, you don't have a large number of ball guides in stock that you would need to burn through if the ball guide shows to be the problem.
If this ball hanging up was not part of the design plan you should look into it.
Sincerely.

Doesn’t need a redesign. See post #1217 for the fix. I did mine in 5 mins and haven’t had the issue since.

Quoted from Cobra:

Loves this game. But.
I am getting so many rejects from the track builder saucer. It goes past the gate and some how comes back down.
The ball rattles between the guides on the inner left loop a lot.
And when the ball hits the left side of the R target it bounces left and hits the guide and then rattles back and forth between the guides.
It is almost like the R target would have been better position if it was a little to the right and the guide behind it was a little longer so the ball would hit the guide and continue up instead of bouncing off the R target.
Anyone else having these things happen?
And why can't I backhand the outer left loop like Danger did in the video with Rosh?

You should buy this for the inner loop rattle;

Quoted from Cobra:

He doesn't ship to Canada. I messaged about throwing it in a bubble envelope and sending it USPS but have not heard back.
Does it even work? I will just make something to fit in there if it does.

It does work cutting down on rattled shots. Maybe he’d send you the file to 3D print it yourself?

Just installed orange t-molding and Pin Stadiums. If you tie the GI section of the Pin Stadiums to the rgb light strip at the back of the playfield (green & yellow wires), the Pin Stadijms go off with the GIs when they should.

Quoted from robotron:

nice i am gonna pick up some mods this xmas for the hotwheels i am really happy with it. its gonna stay around a while.

Get the 3D pop bumper tops and the pit stop barrier from The Mod Couple for sure.
It’s also worth picking up the Metal Wire Guide Brace for 5.00.

#1868 3 years ago
Quoted from Cobra:

Does the pit stop barrier block the view at all??

Nope

Quoted from MrSanRamon:

I spent a couple hours today working with my game. I took the glass off and tried to find as many places the ball could get hung-up and fix those areas. Fo me the ball gets hung up at locations 1-4 marked on the pic below.
[quoted image]
I have never owned a game where I have had so many balls hung-up. I suppose that it's inexperience and the lack of play & tweaking that happened with the whitewood...or changes to the playfield after the whitewood effort. For example, at location 3 in the pic the roll-over switch arm is in a location where a ball could (and does for me) get hung up. Moving the switch about 1/8-inch to the right, or changing it's angle slightly would have probably been all that was needed to stop that from happening there.
I ended up bending a couple of guide rails (locations 2 & 3). In other areas, I couldn't see an easy solution by bending something. After I did this I played 1 game (!) and had 2 balls hung-up during Red Line Mania. I did 't know they were hung up until RLM ended and the game didn't launch another ball. I few shakes and 2 balls rolled out of the RHS of the game in places where no hang-ups had previously occurred. Ugh...I guess I'll just have to get used to this happening randomly with this game.
I also put some foam at the end of the track builder lane, as a test. I didn't remove the plastic (way too many screws), but pushed in a short piece of foam weather stripping down to the end of the lane. This has helped reduce the number of ball rejects there. When I get the inclination I'll take the plastic off and install the foam piece properly.
I also removed the gray foam behind the 3 stand-up targets and replaced it with the black stuff that is more dense. That worked well in reducing those reflected air-balls.
My Isolator was also installed backwards, so I fixed that. My serial number is HWL 3146, so at least up too that S/N the isolators were being installed incorrectly.
After I did that stuff the game played and sounds better, but that's' a lot of work to do on a brand new game.
I added 2 more cars to the playfield, using the standoff/supports I got from American Pinball. I screwed the cars to the support in addition to the Velcro like I did with 2 of the original cars previously.
Robert

Sounds like you don’t have enough pitch on your game if balls are getting hung up on your 1 and 2 spots.
Also, try adjusting the the rollover switch where it isn’t sitting up as high.
I think I may have bent my rail up instead of down on the left side (your number 3 area). Haven’t had one hang up since.

#1888 3 years ago
Quoted from robotron:

i was looking at the 3d pop bumper tops. i was wondering if they block thw pop bumper area view.

They do not.

#1889 3 years ago
Quoted from Cobra:

The only time I get the ball hung up is when it doesnt have the momentum to make it around. Then I just nudge the pin.
I will try putting something at the saucer. I get way too many rejects there. And the ball rattling between the guides is driving me insane. Never experienced this before on any game.

Buy this, you’ll be happy;
https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1268-3d-tech-pinball-parts/04245-hot-wheels-metal-wire-guide-brace

#1890 3 years ago
Quoted from MrSanRamon:

My pitch is right at 6 degrees, where it is supposed to be. I may try experimenting with 6.5 degrees before I do anymore bending/etc. on the game.
I'll take a look at that switch arm, in my experience lowering the arm usually results in the balls not registering.
Robert

I would go up around 6.5. I think you’ll like the added speed and experience less (hopefully no more) hang ups.

#1892 3 years ago
Quoted from Cobra:

I sent a message to him few days ago as he does not ship to Canada. Have not heard back .

It’ll cost a little more, but you’re welcome to have it sent to me and I’ll ship it to you.

#1897 3 years ago
Quoted from VALIS666:

Looks good. Does the Pitstop tire stack block your view of the pop bumpers? I got the 3D pop bumper mod, but held off the tire stack thinking it would partially block my view of the pops, and the pop bumper mod is far more necessary than the one for the Pit Stop.

I don’t feel like they do.

#1917 3 years ago

I have Pin Stadiums installed on mine and tied into the LED strip at the back of the playfield. These pics are in a totally dark room.

Quoted from MrSanRamon:

It looks nice, but having to shell out ~$300 for better lighting seems excessive.
Robert

More like $250.00 with the discount code. Cheaper than invisiglass and removes almost all glare. I think it’s the best add-on you can buy (along with a powered sub).

#1944 3 years ago
Quoted from Cobra:

Legend multiball looks cool. Whats with the fuzzy screen though during it?
And after all the work to get there, when the time runs out it, its very anticlimactic.
No great animation or light show at the end of it. Just plunge and keep playing?

Doesn't seem to be 100% fleshed out yet. I'm sure there's more animation/lightshow coming. The super jackpot animation is cool!

#1945 3 years ago

Anyone hit the Super Skin Shot yet? Full plunge and then hit the Big Kick (boost kickback) which is lit yellow. Worth 400,000. Animation for a successful shot doesn't seem to be completed yet.

#2013 3 years ago

I just stacked Victory MB with Loop Crash MB with my tach near max and hit the Turbo Boost scoring over 1.5 Billion on that one mode.
I also added a cool car.

My red and yellow car target decals chipped off like that to the point I just removed what was left. Needs to be something not so brittle.

I installed the Ramp Exit kit tonight. These are available, just reach out to your distributor.

Quoted from Cobra:

I am more worried about the RPM targets getting beat to shit.

Your targets aren’t going to get damaged. They’re the same as in tons of other games.

#2068 3 years ago
Quoted from Cobra:

What are they for? Is AP sending them out to distributors?

They prevent the ball from bouncing over into the outlane. Just ask your distributor to order you a set.

#2071 3 years ago
Quoted from Cobra:

Ya but they look like the same material as the car target.

They’re not.
It’s good you’re not getting the bounce over from the ramp exit.

#2084 3 years ago
Quoted from Mr_Outlane:

American Pinball, people like installing mods! Especially things like under cab lighting. Spooky Pinball made this difficult too. You need to change this IMO. My JJP and Sterns have power taps pre installed for this!

You do know JJP and Stern doesn't add those taps for aftermarket mods? It could void the warranty with them as well.

Working on a topper. Once I figure out how I want to mount it, I’ll share where to get all the parts.

I like that, looks good in that color too. I tried to order the plastic guide brace from one of the shops on here, but it kept cancelling the order. Messaged the owner but so far no response. This looks like a great alternative.

I had problems making the order through pinside too. Here’s his direct email; [email protected]

Quoted from PinballRulez:

Just had a great game.
I did manage to get the 'Tricera' battle lit but could not activate it. ferret rosh Does the battle light at the track saucer only get lit when you can also qualify for track multiball? If so, where is the setting I can change this

Quoted from chatplume51:

Hello i would like to know when magnet is active ?
I made two games near 2000000000 score but i didn't see it in action, thanks

On the very first left orbit shot, it should grab the ball to start a race. It also grabs it when you finish a race.
Also, at the beginning of Loop/Crash MB, as well as in the mode. That whole mode is about sticking the ball on the magnet, then knocking it back off.

I don’t think it is for the more serious of players or collectors

I haven’t had any problems with the Velcro from the factory, but I’ve bought extra cars to swap out. Instead of trying the reuse the Velcro pads, I’ve been using these sticky dots. They’re cheap and very sticky.

Quoted from RYE_:

Yeah you bet, I love me some stacked modes, that's where the huge points come from. Loop Crash and Victory, plus battles, EPICs and Car Chaos, hit the Turbo boost a couple of times while you're at it... I dunno how many you can stack but sometimes I go from 600M to 2B in just a couple of mins and I know I'm doing something right
Next time this happens I'll pull out my phone and take a video and do the log dump to see if we can isolate it. We're not yet quite sure what combo of flipper and plunger triggers it, if its partially a timing fluke, or if it has to follow a Red Line Mania or Car Collector on Ball 1 or what. My kids are the ones who trigger it because they jam on the buttons and plunger after a drain, whereas I wisely use that time to take a swig of beer.

There's not a switch associated with pulling back the plunger.

Any chance of a code update coming soon?

#3021 2 years ago
Quoted from Ferret:

We do have some upcoming changes.
Is there anything you’re looking for in the code that leads you to ask? A bug that needs fixing or something?

No bugs to mention, just wondering if there was any additional content coming. Had always hoped there would be a way to just start a race independently.

2 weeks later
#3105 2 years ago
Quoted from rosh:

Hey guys and gals, Ferret and I were talking over beers last night about adding a 'race only' mode to Hot Wheels. We came up with a few different ways to go about it, but, we thought before we finalize our plans, that we would open it up to see if any of you have thoughts on it. I know most of you have no opinions on anything, but in case a few of you do, how would like to see it done?
We will just sit back and let you all debate how it should be done.

Are you looking for what happens if you make the wrong shot in race only mode? Like I’m in 10th place and I keep hitting shots other than the 9th place shot? How about any other shot increases the points value to the next correct shot (considering it’s more than just a time based mode).
Can you pit? Temporarily pause the timer? Wreck? How about if you win the top race time, you move on to anther race and advance your starting position up one? Or like a skill shot, start with a qualifying time shot that could start you one position higher.
I don’t see how you guys code these games. It’s hard just trying to verbalize ideas.
