Quoted from Randy_G:Is there anything that can be done to insure a good install of a hardtop as it relates to temperature when installing (will a little heat on the hardtop or wood help with adhesion)?
Or how about pressure applied after the hardtop is down? (putting some weight on it say-overnight?)
close to installing my first hardtop and seeing a lot of ideals of what to do, and have not seen much talked about the above.
Thanks to all who have shared their experiences here.
Good question. I've got a Flash Gordon hardtop that I plan to install in a few months and I've been wondering about the same thing.
Flash Gordon Hardtop
Just finished installing the FG on my two level playfield. Installation was straight forward. No alignment problems. Best of all, no adhesion problems. I was relieved. I purchased the Hardtop about 5 years ago and was starting to worry that the adhesive might be getting old.
Very happy with the result.
IMG_3322 (resized).jpgQuoted from Blenderhead:How did you address your rollover inserts? Did you remove/reinstall the inserts to make level with the overlay?
I removed the star rollover inserts. Will be taking a rotary tool to the insert holes and installing new inserts.
Quoted from Gorgar666:How well did you polish the Inserts? I hear this is very important.
I removed the inserts and surfaced them using sandpaper 200 through 800 grit if I remember correctly. Replaced the inserts after a light coat of rattle can clear to seal the playfield. They look good to me. Yoppcicles should light them up just fine!
