Quoted from Watkinsd13:Hey. So I was just trying to install my swords of fury hardtop and realized that the main Playfield does NOT have the plastic cut out for the upper playfield flipper. How do you cut a perfect circle out of this?
[quoted image]
Just use an appropriate sized drill bit? You def don’t need anything fancy but that flipper bushing needs to come out.
Yes! TimeWarp!
Thats awesome. I wonder when they will be ready? I was going to order a Black Knight hardtop but might wait to save on shipping.
Quoted from wrd1972_PinDoc:Did they clean the surface with a solvent or other cleaner to remove all contaminates?
I imagine this is the culprit to most delaminating issues.
Quoted from xamindar:Isn't a full router way overkill for this job? I'd be afraid of taking out more wood from the hole.
What's wrong with using something smaller and more precise like a dremel?
If you use plunge router; other then its big and bulky, you should be using a flush bit which has an edge guide on it and will follow the existing wood hole without cutting into the substrate.
Quoted from xamindar:But any kickout holes I have seen are flared out on top. I don't have a router so haven't looked too much in to it yet. But wont a flush bit be the incorrect bit for any out-holes?
Your correct. You’d have have to match to the radius of the wood to the correct router bit which wouldn’t be difficult. I definitely think a dremel is the way to go and either make circle jigs out of wood to use as a guide or put painters tape over the hardtop and mark your circle and try your luck freehanding it with a dremel.

Seawitch playfields were remade for years by greatwichjohn who has recently sold his business. New ones should be on the market within a matter of weeks from the new owners.
You mean it took him years to rescreen 50 playfields. You had to send him your playfield he would rescreen it.
Quoted from play_pinball:No, I don’t mean that. Maybe he did a reprint process early on, I don’t know, but he produced many new ones as well. His successors have already announced their new and improved repros.

And for posterity, GWJ never screened anything. His were all digital prints.

I need a Festool set of tools!
Quoted from radium:Was comparing F14 hardtop to original and was bummed out by the lazy work on the lettering.
The fonts don’t match original well, letters are not positioned correctly (arrow inserts too low), and different font weights are used (see 32k vs 16k).
All that work, why not vector trace original 0-9 and use that to match?
[quoted image][quoted image]
I agree, and the key lines around the inserts are super thick!
Quoted from vid1900:It's going to be a sucky job, because if you enlarge the hole, it might affect the ball travel, or become another ball trap.
I'd probably clamp a plexi template over the rollover and then use a bearing router bit to clear out the old insert
Or use the plexi template and a brand new forstner bit in a drill press, shaving away the hardtop and insert

FireBall Classic kicks ass!
