I doubt it ever happens, but I'd *love* for Alien Poker to get done at some point. That was my first game and I think it would be fantastic with a hardtop!

Alien Poker and Laser Cue would be great addition to the hardtop lineup!
I might be bringing my old one back home soon. It definitely could use a hardtop at some point though, given its issues with planking and a few wear marks all the way to bare wood. Oh, and new backglass
I can't remember, it's it necessary to replace cupped inserts as well? I assume it's probably best to do it if you can.. right?

Quoted from Jimmyapple:I shared on the space shuttle thread but for those concerned if I can do it you can do it. You can easily tell before and after. Hardtop saved this one!

Looks great! Always love seeing the clear ramps.
Quoted from Jimmyapple:Clear was way to go IMO. Love it!
Agreed. I think clear is the PERFECT match for shuttle, especially when hardtopped.
I like that you put something under that wide open spot in the ramp. Gives it a bit of a focal point which it kind of needs IMO.
IMG_20200901_203439 (resized).jpgQuestion, my playfield is sanded and clear coated. How long should I wait before installing the hardtop? I have read "when it is dry" and "allow multiple days for gassing out". Thanks.

Guidance from Outside Edge is "several days" for outgassing. I waited a week to be sure - a few light coats of clear on a Sunday and put on the hardtop the following Saturday.
As a general rule, if it doesn't smell when you put your nose right up to it, it's probably done outgassing
"The fingernail test" is a good way to test if it's cured
Quoted from Fieldsweeper:Please do a Sorcerer lol
I second this- I've got a Sorcerer and a friend has one that could both use a hardtop. Pretty much every Sorcerer I've ever seen is bad around the inserts in the center.
Plus it would complete the System 9s trifecta of hardtops.

Nooooo, I'm pretty sure Vid nailed it. I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more Hardtop!

One bad ass game. Love Playmatic!

Nice... I have a FP that's in the queue of projects and its waiting for a hardtop!
Quoted from Skypilot:Sí, este es el lugar para realizar solicitudes. Lo agregaré a la lista de solicitudes.
I made one custom for my firepower 2, Now is something used, maybe you would make a firepower 2 hardtop?
sorry for my inglishj
If it really is Jungle Lord I'm gonna flip. I picked one up that needs help like 3 months ago. Someone needs to make plastics and glass for that game. They made like 6000 of them and plastics are always busted, the backglass is always shedding.
Apologies if it's been mentioned in this thread already by others, but if there's ever a Paragon hardtop made, I will throw my money at it SO fast. These all look simply amazing.
Just made aware of this product, looks a great option... I'll keep my eyes out over the years for if you ever do a Heavy Metal Meltdown one... so few options for that great game out there in terms of repro anything.
Quoted from jaytrem:I was wondering if anybody even sold a machine with a hardtop already installed yet. I think it's still too early to tell what will happen price wise. I'm guessing most of the hardtop machines are still with the original owners. I have no plans of selling mine any time soon. And I also put in a lot of other new parts, so who knows what price increase can be attributed to specifically to the hardtop. Time should give us an idea though.
I have a Wizard Im going to sell soon with a HT on it but I haven't fished for any buyers yet. I would assume there is an increase in value if the original was blown out. The game plays excellent with them installed, my EK is also very fast and plays beautiful.
Paid $2000 for my hardtopped shuttle.
When I sell my hardtopped High Speed, it's going to be for more than Pinside numbers. Whether it actually sells, who knows.
I sold my Pinbot and my Taxi both with hardtop for 2000eur each here in Europe.
That is 2430usd each.
I feel like hardtops tack on a slight premium to most titles, but it does somewhat limit the pool of people interested. Purists don't like them because they make games too smooth and therefore not like their memories... lol
Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:Purists don't like them because they make games too smooth and therefore not like their memories... lol
Then purists better not like new clear-coated CPR playfields either. That said I had many purists rave over the CPR playfield on my Funhouse. I love the hardtops on my Black Knight and Grand Lizard.
I think CPR is fine, hardtops are fine, fixed original + clear is fine.... but I'm no purist.
I hear complaints about how games just don't feel the same after clear or hardtop. Seems like a weird complaint to make that a game is too smooth, lol
The hardtop does make the game play different (faster and smoother), but all those cupped inserts make the game play differently too (and not for the better)
I've now done a ton of hardtops, and not one client has said "Hey, can you change this over to a NOS playfield....". Everyone has been very happy so far.
It's like an old Mustang. Some people like it totally factory with original paint and AM/FM radio. Others like it with fresh paint and bumping sound system. Both types of collectors are allowed in the same club.

I absolutely agree! Hell, I'm fine with cupped inserts on occasion too. My Alien poker has them and it's syill plenty of fun. I'm by no means one to go judge what other people enjoy.
Quoted from MacJedi:vid1900 it's so great to have you back! Really appreciate your insights and all of the great advice you offer on Pinside!
Absolutely agree!
Quoted from RCA1:TaDa!

I installed my Space Shuttle and High Speed Hardtops with the playfield right in the cabinet.
Wow, that does not sound easy!
Does anyone know if Paragon is a possibility? I know CPR made playfields but I believe they are all sold at this point. I have a Paragon with some playfield wear and cupped inserts and would love to try a hardtop.
Quoted from jaytrem:Wow, that does not sound easy!
Ya I would never do a HT install inside a cab. Plus all the playfield prep is messy and creates more cleanup inside a cab

Any non-licensed game has the best chance of getting made. Having said that, Outside Edge is not going to make that public until they begin working on it. Could be 2+ years away, if at all.
I say..just install mylar or a playfield protector to keep it in the state it is in now.

Thank you, that is helpful. Makes sense that they would have said something if it's in the works and I agree with you, I'd rather not wait 2+ years.
