I have never seen the show so can't say it is a must for me and can understand the use of some gears given the time setting but just seems like it is almost going steampunk as a little too many gears.

There are some elements that are cool and some that are terrible:
-nice that stern provided 3d renders of the game which are nice quality but the game components will never look this so doubt the finished product will match these images.
- I like the sword idea for stopping the ball and letting just one ball at a time through from the ball lock (I think) - can see the sword getting some realistic mod upgrades
- the shield inserts are cool, and new for this game which is nice and original but the playfield looks a little over powered by them all - almost out of proportion or unbalanced.
- the super jackpot / wildfire log looks like a similar Dutch Pinball rug idea concept idea.
- the pro is radically different and looks too bland and empty in the back lhs corner - wonder if some one would contemplate a mini-playfield mode for the pro. Someone could get a le and pro and compare and could possibly do well in a $1000 kit to bolt in??? to add features like a le....
- in a way it is better without characters on the playfield to make it a little more appealing in the future but the trans and cabinet art on the pro especially is crap.

Quoted from oscarspa:

Where are the animations of the introduction of the serie?,
the pile of toys that can be included in the playfield, I want more toys

game-of-thrones.jpggot_kings_landing_final1.jpg gifs21.gifmaxresdefault.jpg gifs9.gifthrones-clock.jpg gifs41.gifgis1.gif

when you see those little videos of the mechs and buildings growing there could of been some cool toys to hit which with each hit could of evolved a new ramp path / game play feature / access to a new arena. Instead of the battering ram just hitting a target they could of taken it one step further and actually bust a door open or open a access path to something.

can't believe they had this long to develop this layout especially for the pro version, maybe they need to play zen 2 for some creative ideas

has anyone counted how many gears are actually on this game, it would be like the "how many jelly beans are in the sealed jar" competition

#3351 8 years ago

I think I GoT 94 gears on the Pro, which included I guessed 12 just on the ball launch guide

wonder if the mech is partly concealed in the pyramid and on top and is similar to the star trek ship mech ???

the pyramid looks like a part that could be modded as similar multi panel part like the ac/dc cannon, but the dragon looks cool

Quoted from iceman44:

There is no right or wrong answer here. Everybody has their own standards and expectations.
As many others have said, the expectation bar gets raised higher as the price keeps going up. Some people don't care.
Plus the fact that when you already have 10 pins to play or multiples in most cases, you can afford to be patient, discriminate and wait for the next one to come out.
Play it first and let the code develop is usually a good general rule to follow anyhow

good points but I wonder what would happen if more and more people start to hang back for better code before buying could cause another issue, as in the past games that are not so popular don't tend to get updated code and therefore not reach their potential.

Quoted from kvan99:

Whoa...that price list is a real eye opener. Thx

yeah, I have been recording each release as a quick reference in game and date release, puts things into perspective

#3836 8 years ago

interesting that SR's LE's jump up on AC/DC and ST and other releases drop down, and GoT maintained the same price as Kiss LE

#3839 8 years ago
Quoted from ahdelarge:

That's a great list, Jady. Did you keep track of all the Australian pricing as well? I'd be interested to know the price of TSPP and LOTR over here in the early 2000s compared to pricing now.

I started another dedicated thread a little while back here
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/sterns-game-release-history

as well as here which has some of the recent Aus Pricing at different dates but never went back further, sorry.

Quoted from kst8cat:

So for instance on Mustang Pro, the original MSRP was $5395, but now it's $5,995 (same as all the other Pro models) on Stern's website. I'm curious has the distributor price actually gone up $600 since its release as well, or has it been a smaller increase than that?

I only captured the press release pricing of Stern's MSRP, not updated ones as time moves on as starts to get messy unless you setup a spreadsheet, this list is a good starting point at least instead of guessing and speculation.

#3863 8 years ago
Quoted from 1967Firebird:

Update I called around, the Pro is more in my price range and it looks like 4750.00 will do it.
Star Trek was quoted around 4600.00 for me at the time.

that list was purely the press release MSRP prices at the time of each launch, so dealers are probably supplying better prices and MSRP on some titles may have gone up as well as think I read that the MSRP on say Metallica is a little higher now. Purely putting some data in as a measure and interesting that ever SR pin the price goes up except for GOT.

#3866 8 years ago
Quoted from 1967Firebird:

I loved the list of the MSRP, I just gave the prices because the MSRP went up about 600 but actual price only about 150. Thanks for doing the MSRP comparison.

no worries, I did the list more because a while back I saw a pattern and that I believed they jumped their prices when JJP announced their prices of WOZ.

I will keep the dedicated thread running and updated as becomes a good bit of historical data instead of trying to find it in heaps of different places.

Quoted from Trekkie1978:

BTW, I forgot to mention, if I were the CEO of Stern Pinball, Jody would be fired Tuesday morning.
What an absolute embarrassment in the way he acted.

Totally agree especially when this game has copped some negativity and then you have to listen to him carry on.

Gotta wonder what Steve Ritchie was thinking sometimes when Jody was carrying on

Shit I missed it. Was on my calendar but kids made me forgot.....doh
