Quoted from Kiwipinhead:3 Medieval theme pinballs are about to do battle!
Who will win!
Find out on the next episode of Soap!
You mean this one ?.
Quoted from RobT:Plenty of us do. Bigger is better! Watching a film on a big screen is far more engrossing, and closer to the movie experience.
Were people really defending DVD as being nearly as good as Blu-ray in this thread?
Theater4.jpg
If you sit that far away in your home cinema from the screen
You better watch movies on your smaller tv sitting on front in your smaller livingroom.
Quoted from Aurich:Really? LOTR art sucks IMHO. Part of the problem is the really shoddy print quality, even on the best of them, and many were worse than that. I really hope that GOT is above that in the quality department, even if we should probably just accept it's going to be photoshopped PR assets.
If they digital screen print the playfield At 300 dpi
you get this quality.
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:I love what you are doing with your game, but you've gotta stop pimping it in every thread.
Only 3 topics.
I think i like the gameplay.
But wy no molded castle walls instead of a sticker.
This looks cheap.
On twd it looks great for a house.
Now i have seen closeups of the upperplayfield (new foto's page one), wow looks great.
But i still think te pro is to empty.
Stern you have a lower bom because of spike, quality
of the decals, les wiring, savings on labor.
So can you give us a decent pro with a litle more
futures please.
Quoted from Roo:People keep making comments like this. That may well end up being what it's like, but the fact is we don't know because these images are fake CG mockups (I assume no production prototype is ready). The castle walls in particular look really bad/fake. It probably won't be drastically different, but I'm holding out hope the real version looks a little better.
I don't think it was a very good idea for Stern to release these images like this -- they've got to know they will be scrutinized. I'm surprised there aren't warnings on the images saying that it's not the final product and is subject to change.
Thay dit not warning us because this is te final.
Quoted from WideWorldImports:I agree.
However I do not like what he is doing.
I like people that really say what they think.
Because thats the truth.
Everything has said already.
The graphics are les fantasy than expected.
How it play's and if we like the rules,we have to play it first before make any justment on this.
It wil do fine in the arcade.
Pro or not.
Quoted from WideWorldImports:regardless of the game theme, what do you all continue to expect from a pinball company that the majority of the designers are from 2 or more decades ago...
nothing new or really innovative is going to come out of stern just due to the fact of the old way of doing things... from the old people.
if you want new designs, you need new people, new direction, new talent that may be guided by the older talent but not stifled by it..
this trend of will continue for as long as the old designers are there. At this point in their careers they should be training replacement apprentices... to carry on the tradition but the new guys will adopt new ways.
this whole game reminds me of my father.... he bout a 76 Corvette and completely modded it, painted it, every nut and bolt gone through, its a blown 383... for the money he spent I said dad you could have got a new Corvette, lighter, faster, handles better, more fuel efficient etc. why didn't you... he goes to me..... I like the 76... ok fair enough but when you are a designer you cannot have that kind of mental attitude. just because you like it doesn't mean everybody else wants to stay with you in the same time period...
I hope people are understanding my point I am trying to make. that's why JJP, Jpop, etc etc have different quality levels, art levels, and tech levels... they have a newer set of eyes on things.
Game of thrones does not look like games of thrones, it looks like a medieval castle game with dragons, if you can take it for that, and it has good rules and fun play then you may be happy.
I am taking this games as a medieval "castle dragon" game and if the game play is good ill buy one. I wish it had a color display yes. I wish the playfield did not have a silver saucer in the middle but who knows with the lights it may be ok..
Its not the designers.
The low bom makes bad pinball machines.
Why not put a fake castle front on the pro with the dragon in the middle .
Then it looks 10 times better for a few extra dollars.
I Still hope for a more lotr style fantasy graphics on the playfield for the LE.
This will sell like hotcakes.
Everybody can draw 1000 backglasses or cabinets.
There is alway's someone that likes it or don"t.
Its simple........ we want lotr style graphics.
Thats all. Nothing more nothing less.
Gameplay looks lighting fast.
Software is better than other first release's because Steve will look after it.
If Gary Stern pull his nose in the air.... well we have to live with it.
In the near future you can choose between 2 playfield graphics designs.
Watch my words, it take some jears but there will be a manufacture in the future that wil let you choose.
Because home customers have money to spend.
Its all about the money.
Quoted from kaneda:Guys, GOT looks amazing. Maybe the art leaves some to be desired, but the layout and shots look incredible. Not sure why STERN is slow to release some flipping videos, but once they do, everyone is gonna want one.
They are not slow because kiss sales are great.
And the rumor mill on pinside for got was high.
So they gave us a render to cool off.
It was a gesture from Stern.
But we didn't saw it that way.
The real sneak peak movie of the lower playfield looks way better than the cgi.
But still no complete game view.
Are they putting in the lcd display ????????
Quoted from paul_8788:Has been confirmed for awhile, no LCD display.
Yes i now.
But i hope they change there minds because they have a lot of negative people complaining.
Well i think the added chair in the left corner for the pro is all we get.
Quoted from thedarkknight77:Is it possible that GOT is going to be a flop????
No i don't think so.
The theme only will do.
But for home users the sales will be 30% lower because they expected more fantasy style graphics.
Well thats my opinion.
Well we can say a lot of things but wow got play's like hell so fast.
I really like the fast layout and gameplay.
Even the rules are great for a pre-release game.
I hope Jack Danger keeps his mouth shut while he's :whistle:playing the GOT LE next week so i can hear some sound and quotes.
Quoted from FightNightFZ:Jack is a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the negativity I run into on here. He's actually got me back and enjoying pinball.
He's great , but i want to hear the machine.
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:You won't be able to hear the machine with a room full of people anyway. Jacks commentary is good, I like it.
If he want he can put a extra mic on the speaker so we don't hear the crowd and when he speaks we still can hear the got.
I am a sound engineer so i now its posible and everybody is happy.
And jack can keeps talking
I cant"t wait to play got on the dutch dpo.
But i think Steve made a new Black Knight just like he did with sttng.
And Gary named it got.
Thats mine opinion.
And then the graphics would be great if it was a black knight 3000 no one would complain.
Quoted from LOTR_breath:Please tell me exactly how GOT is in any way similar to Black Knight? I'm not seeing it.
Its not similar to Black Knight its a 35 year newer design of a envolved black knight i think.
Quoted from pinballwil:Its not similar to Black Knight its a 35 year newer design of a envolved black knight i think.
I will speak with Greg Freres at the dpo about my mc and got and wil ask if its a involved bk or not.
I played the GOT pro at the Dutch DPO.
And it looks great if it was a knight or medieval theme.
But it plays extremly well. i really liked it, wat a flow.
And not because Greg signed my Medieval Castle, i liked the game, buy it , play it, and get on with your life.
