Quoted from aingide:The random collage of 3D-rendered bricks/photographs of fire/thick-stroked cartoony inserts, etc seems like a first-pass blocking layout. It's at least 3-4 revisions behind where it should to be.
And there was some borrowing going on (left is GoT upper PF, right is MM slingshot).Screen_Shot_2015-09-08_at_12.39.55_PM.png
No... wait... you are saying, stern, the king of innovation and original design since their first board set of the late 70s, has "borrowed" something form another manufacturer?!
That is just out of the question!
Quoted from pinlink:"Iron Bank"
Aurich, will you please use your skills to decipher the full instruction card?
Quoted from Join_The_Cirqus:So how would i add the traditional to my LE?
Seems very costly.....
The new bar is better. It latches down much better and does not need adjusting. When gorillas play the game they won't move around and damage the nice powder coat as much. This is the one Pro feature that I actually preferred.
Quoted from jeffpm:I think what's most disappointing about the art is how Stern produces games like Kiss and Metallica which have gorgeous playfield art, and then release something like this.
Seems to me Stern is banking on features and gameplay to sell Ritchie games. With other designers perhaps they are counting on art to help sell the game?
Quoted from Aurich:i7kh5lcn.png
The houses look like they have pretty big advantages, I like it.
Also pop bumpers award random awards including special? I guess the pop bumpers are always a slot machine? Could be interesting. Could be better than the random points and progress they usually award.
Also 5x pf multiplier combos with 5x combo multiplier for up to 25x combo shots but you can only combo ramps on the pro
As disappointed as I am about the artwork not really capturing the game of thrones universe, the game play and rules have the chance to make this an epic pin.

Holy crap. That would seem close enough to be infringement of IP rights.
Cool....
Game of Thrones pinball will not be available in digital form at launch, but Dankberg says they are working on digitizing Stern games from the past and present with Zen Pinball. The ultimate goal is to one day co-release a digital and physical version of a pinball machine.
Quoted from DefaultGen:I guess the pop bumpers are always a slot machine? Could be interesting.
Ritchie did this on Elvis. Each bumper changed the channels on Elvis' TV's - when all 3 matched, you got the prize.
"Players can win valuable random awards and features with Reel PopsTM, a fun new software mechanism, by playing the Pop Bumpers and spinning three virtual spinning reels on the display. When three identical symbols line up, the player is awarded the prize shown on the reels. Earn Gold and spend it on needed weapons and features. An Action Button is featured on the front molding for the largest array of interactive play features ever seen in a pinball machine."
Ummm take my money? I read the FB post and was like ok ok they are going to do some crazy stuff in the code… Slot machine… a fricking slot machine… I feel like I waited all weekend to decode something that says drink your ovelteen.
Thanks Aurich for the detailed cards. If I had just read the instruction cards& not seen the playfield art, I'd be pretty stoked for this game. House selection, video modes, multiplier scoring, Blackwater Bay Multiball, the Iron Bank, etc etc.....there a lot from the show in the code & mode gameplay, even if it's not represented so well on the playfield art.
That being said, I think the gameplay is going to be pretty unique, so I'll hold off making further judgment (and a possible Premium purchase) until I see some actually gameplay (and the Alien reveal) first
Quoted from DefaultGen:The houses look like they have pretty big advantages, I like it.
Curious to see how they're balanced. Will one have an advantage that means most people will always pick it?

This is kind of disappointing given that Pinball Arcade already has a relationship with Stern. Not of fan of Zen pinball. Always feels laggy, and over the top.
Quoted from Captain_Kirk:I'm interested in these new quiet flippers. Wonder if they can be bought and added to existing games or not.
It's referring to the parallel wound flippers that all spike games will use. You can't just swap them as they are driven different. This is just stern changing to the hi/lo coils Williams and others used previously
Huge scoring (with strategy) opportunites by the look of the instruction card with up to 25x multiplier, 2 main multiballs "The Wall" and "Blackwater", judging by the playfield Hand of the king is a mini wizard mode and Iron Throne is the wizard mode. Looks like it'll be a players game for sure
Quoted from jints56:So the lockdown bars are the same across all models now? Does this mean pegs instead of service rails for all models too?
No - matrix shows perm/le get sliders
Funny thing, one of the 'selling points' is that it will have a spinning reel 'slot machine' type reward. GAG. It would be OK if this was another title like maybe WOF or (I don't know, something other than a gritty medieval fantasy). It's almost like a slap in the face. Like Stern, SR, or DS don't have a clue about their target audience or a clue about this show or the books.
Stern had a big opportunity to stick it to JJP and even people waiting for Alien and they blew it.
Quoted from DefaultGen:The houses look like they have pretty big advantages, I like it.

Is it confirmed that the right ramp will always feed the upper playfield on the Premium/LE?
I wish it looked nicer. I almost expect to see Mattel or Coleco on the translite.
JJP might be feeling a little better today.
Quoted from Darscot:Are these pics legit? It's not even close to the feel or atmosphere of the show or the books, its completely out in left field. Looks terrible!
I was thinking, this has to be a joke because (especially the art look like crap). I know you don't play the art, but this is worst than anything I've seen from Stern even.
The LE looks like a Shadow rip off.
That said, this could be my first Stern ever. Thing looks SWEET!!!!

I don't play digital pinball but love my ZEN Family Guy Pinball poster from this years Comic-Con.

Quoted from mr2xbass:It's called "Game of Thrones".
The Pro model has zero (0) thrones.
#wheresthethrone
lol thats perfect
Just read the fine print on the matrix - anyone else catch the new flipper concept with no buzz? No buzz would be great. New flipper concept not so sure of...
Is there a physical ball lock on the PRO on the left ramp or just a virtual?
edit: nvm I see the sword lock thing now
Quoted from QuarterGrabber:Does "exciting sword fight display mode" mean a video mode on this one?
Yes, the apron says one of the things you use the button to do is "Wield your sword in the video mode"
Is there any reason at all to get the LE this go round? Just wait for premium if still interested. I would think given how poor the artwork is and the LE bling is just lipstick on a pig (and not even done well).
I know that's the case always (for games they pre announce premiums) but seems like a very easy call this time? If it plays well.
Quoted from T-800:Just read the fine print on the matrix - anyone else catch the new flipper concept with no buzz? No buzz would be great. New flipper concept not so sure of...
its simply marketing for dual wound coils as Spike uses now.. vs the pulsed single wound coil sam/whitestar used.
Quoted from Goronic:JJP's Smaug LE cab art wasn't well received by many. Surprised Sterns looks so similar.
JJP THSE - Stern GoT LE.jpg
It wasn't well received? I think you're thinking of Hobbit LE, not SE...
Quoted from QuarterGrabber:Does "exciting sword fight display mode" mean a video mode on this one?
Unfortunately yes...look at the apron pic Aurich posted. Video mode. Blech!
Quoted from DefaultGen:A bit of Facebook gold. Stern is still A+ in the social media department.

That department of Williams is out of business but man they made some dam fine pins that still are very sought after today ,I actually prefer w/b to most of the new stuff .
So I noticed that there's no line item in the feature matrix around audio from the show...has anyone heard anything different? The Hound doing call-outs is AWESOME, but I want to hear from all of the other cast members.
What does a slot machine have to do with Game of Thrones?
They should switch which girls you're getting at the brothel. I don't recall a single casino in the show.
Quoted from Pimp77:It wasn't well received? I think you're thinking of Hobbit LE, not SE...
You may be right. Hobbit LE complaint was the Goblin King (scrotum beard), and the Smaug SE complaint was the repeated Smaug dragon on both sides.
I honestly like the cab art for both the SE and LE versions.

Someone needs to get them the Business section, I can check out how Williams is doing in the NASDAQ under SGC.
Quoted from Goronic:JJP's Smaug LE cab art wasn't well received by many. Surprised Sterns looks so similar.
JJP THSE - Stern GoT LE.jpg
Actually, I like both. But again, it would probably be in between other machines anyway so I don't really care.
Quoted from InfiniteLives:i hope people vote with their wallets on this one
Absolutely! I'm buying pre-ordering one of each flavor.
Quoted from DCFAN:Holy crap. That would seem close enough to be infringement of IP rights.
Perhaps Rick licensed it to Stern.

My favorite response was to someone asking if Stern would confirm who is writing the code for the game: "The stern development team is coding the game." What a weasley answer.
