Hello all. My name is Dan from Altoona PA. I bought the infamous "crack baby pac" aka "Gangsta Baby" from Biffbar this weekend in hopes to make a nice playing Baby Pac Man.
I love the game and remember it as a child, I was 4 when it came out. It'd been on my watch list for awhile.
The price was right on this one and it had good bones. Dave was up front about everything with this game so I knew exactly what I was in for.

Over the next several months I hope to document the progress of bringing this machine back to a more like new presentation although it's really cool now. Yes, I will probably upset people by doing things the wrong way or cutting corners but it's a learning process for me and hopefully a teaching tool for others. Please bare wirh me on this. Helpful hints along the way would be much appreciated as well. I apologize in advance, days or weeks may go by without updates due to my busy schedule.
Follow along and favorite the thread if you're interested. Here we go!

Saturday May 19th I made the drive up near Allentown to pic up crack Baby Pac. It was a rainy 3 hr trip but went very well. My 8yr old daughter accompanied me along the way.
For the record, a Baby Pac Man fits comfortably in a 2012 GMC Terrain.

Getting it home and set up. Initial observations are as follows:
-the game plays 100%, no issues with video controls, pinball functions as it should. Coils all fire.
-volume is very low
-about 8 lights are out in the playfield
-playfield is worn in several areas
-pinball needs new rubber
-mpu had prior alkaline damage but was properly cleaned and repaired. No battery or back up is present on the board.
-Cabinet is covered in graffiti but very solid, just minor swelling.
-control panel overlay has seen better days.
-coin door will need taken apart, cleaned, painted, polished, etc.
Other miscellaneous things will need addressed.
Please note, this is by no means a dig at the seller, I knew what i was getting and the price was right. Simply just documentation.

Quoted from seshpilot:

Why is this one called "crack baby?" Curious

I did neglect to explain.
Back around 2000, this machine was said to have been rescued from a Philadelphia 'crack house.' Hence all the graffiti and tags all over it. Plastic logo bags were still in the machine which we assume was for the crack. Seller said to me it was one of those places where you can't wait to leave! Grab the machine and go!

First thing I wanted to address was the low sound volume. I first used contact cleaner on the volume pot inside the coin door. It was very corroded. That yielded just a tiny but more sound. Time to move on. I remember watching a video from Arcade Jason and he mentioned a master volume pot on the 'Vidiot' board. Sure enough, after adjusting that, sound was deafening from the speakers! Success!
The pot is located on the lower right quadrant of the Vidiot board.

The next issue I wanted to address was the missing mpu battery. Even though eventually the game will be unplayable for a time when I move to the playfield restoration, I'd like to start logging my high scores.
Anticipating the purchase, I ordered one of 'Franks battery boards" from TNT Amusements and @toddtuckey. I needed another one for a service call anyway.
I am aware of nvram, however, the battery boards provide a nice clean look, easy battery exchange, low likelihood of leakage, and a blocking diode built right in. They install in a matter of minutes! I had to add a small jumper due to the prior corrosion just to sure up the connection. Success! High scores now save!

Quoted from Jenniebear:

Try a Magic eraser, it should take off most of the marker

Yes, good call. I will try that. My intention is to get the marker off, bondo the gouges and deep scratches, sand and hopefully get away with touch up. New cabinet art of course.

I have ordered the Baby Pac Man art package from Phoenix arcades. It includes the side art, CPO, PFO, and pinball plastics. One if my goals is to successfully complete a new playfield overlay. With this small size, should be easier than a full sized machine.

#13 5 years ago

Isopropyl alcohol and magic eraser seems to be the right combo. Theres a bit of marker residue left behind, but I'll hit it again.

Looking at the playfield lights, I wanted to know if I had bad lamps or bad SCRs. Replacing the lamps and they all work. Some bad lamps, some loose sockets. Luckily this machine is equipped with the PCB matrix in the center rather than all those individual sockets. Experimenting wirh a couple LEDS underneath as you can see by the "P"s.

Any owners out there that can tell me if LEDs work well with Baby Pac? They usually flicker or strobe with older Bally games.

Quoted from brainmegaphone:

Don’t take this the wrong way but why exactly is a battery which CAN leak and which needs to be changed at some point no matter what better than NVRAM?

No hard feelings. It's just like the LED debate, one could argue that til you're blue in the face, just preference. My Earthshaker has Lithium, however my WCS has NVRAM. I'm not biased.

Quoted from brainmegaphone:

To answer your question I used non ghosting LEDs on my playfield and have no flicker problems

Great! Good to know.

Quoted from chad:

Top right of game looks like the Yakuza tagged your game.

I wonder what some of this means. If anyone can recognize a tag. I almost feel bad removing the history.

#21 5 years ago
Quoted from brainmegaphone:

One tip - do not mess with the lights when the game is on. You blow scrs on that driver board by breathing sometimes. This issue isn’t as bad with the light setup you have on yours but it still happens. This is the only pin I own that I always shut off to do anything under the playfield.

Great tip, thanks! Just like the Gottlieb system 3 games. I have been shutting it off to dig around under the playfield; mainly because I'm not as familiar with that machine. I was quite surprised all the lamps do work.
Any tips on removing the old vinyl side art stickers? Those are on there pretty good!

I have a question for baby pac owners. The "extra baby" feature is not working the way the game is set up now. The blue target registers hits but it doesn't award the exrra baby.
I've been looking at the dip switch settings in the manual and it's a bit confusing as to what controls that feature. Does it have to do with the max number of pac man per game? Need some help with this one.

#31 5 years ago
Quoted from brainmegaphone:

Last post here references what may be your issue (dip setting). You then go into the games settings under test.
https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/rec.games.video.arcade.collecting/MYX_h7JDkck

Yes! Thank you. Since the game had no battery, high score setting reverted back to 00
Setting it to 03 fixed the extra baby issue.

#34 5 years ago

I was able to remove most of the Sharpie marker from this side using a magic eraser and 91% isopropyl alcohol. Once the other side is cleaned, I'll attempt to remove the old artwork, bondo fill the gouges and then sand and prep for new paint.

I’m actually on my second Baby Pac-Man as well too. Regretfully sold my first one and shortly there after had sellers remorse.

Very nice! Hope mine will look that nice someday.

My art package from Phoenix Arcades arrived today. Everything looks fantastic. I recieved new plastics, control panel overlay, playfield overlay and cabinet art. However, I'm nowhere near reday for any of it.
I need to call Steve at pinball resource and get a new set of drop targets ordered as well.

Congrats on your pick up.

It’s such a tough game I don’t think I’ve gotten past the 4th maze.

Thank you. I just hit the 4th maze this evening but got outsmarted by that pesky red ghost.
hassellcastle may I ask what led scheme you used. I really like the brightness of the playfield and plastic art. Did you use actual yellow leds under the 'PACMAN' inserts?

#42 5 years ago
Quoted from hassellcastle:

Hmmm, I don't recall what I used it's been about a year and half since I did my machine so I would need to look under the playfield to see what type of LED's I used. I'll check it out this weekend and report back.

I haven't dug into it deeply yet but it appears after unlocking the clips under the control panel, you need to unplug the wire harnesses from the boards and lift the playfield out. I plan to strip the topside completely, but leave most items in tact on the underside.

#47 5 years ago

Right side of the cabinet is now graffiti free. Next I'll turn my attention to removing the old decals.

Since I'll be working for the next 3 days, I thought it would be an opportune time to atempt to polish the coin dtop slots. I removed those and dropped them into the vibratory polisher for the next 3 days and we'll see how they turn out.

20180525_220412 (resized).jpg20180525_220412 (resized).jpg

I also ordered repro 25c inserts from eBay:
ebay.com link: Midway Arcade Coin Door Insert Pairs 25 cents

The coin door will eventually be removed and repainted.

#49 5 years ago

After 48 hrs in the polisher, the coin slots look better but the corrosion is too deep. I think I am going to just sandblast them and then back into the polisher. I know it won't have the luxurious chrome look, but the rust has to go.

Some more parts that I removed and sandblasted at work. Shot them with some coat to prevent further oxidation.

#52 5 years ago

Slow progress. I now have the control panel stripped and ready for the new CPO.
Thankfully the old overlay peeled off in large chunks leaving just the adhesive. I soaked the panel in a bath of Goo Gone overnight. That lifted most of the old adhesive off, then I hit it with denatured alcohol and a brillo pad. Finally I took it to work and sandblasted all the corrosion and leftover imperfections. Looks great!

Quoted from hassellcastle:

Invest in a buffing wheel. It will work a miracle on those rusted parts. Trust me.

Looks great! I just may have to look into one since I prefer buying games that need help vs. ones that already look nice.

#56 5 years ago

New CPO is installed. It wouldn't quite stick with the supplied self adhesive. I hit it with some spray LocTite. Clamped it with a 2x4 in place until each side set.
I'm satisfied with the results. Left - new; right - original.

I will reuse the original joystick. I have on order new top flipper buttons and new Atari volcano bezels for the start buttons.

#57 5 years ago

I removed the coin door tonight for a repaint. Hand sanded the areas of rust. The door has its fair share of dings and bruises, but the budget doesn't allow for a new door. New paint, polished coin slots and new price lenses will suffice.

Quoted from TxJay:

Since you have the joystick out be sure to replace that centering grommet if it hasn't been replaced already.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did take a look at the grommet and it looks like it has been replaced at some point. It's definitely not original. I will let it go for now. It wouldn't be hard to replace it in the future.

#60 5 years ago

Reassembly of the coin door. It doesn't look perfect but it's miles ahead of what it used to look like. I have a new Bally/Midway plate ordered to complete the door.

Removed the playfield today. It's not that difficult at all. I believe 5 board connectors and 2 molex plugs.
Removed all the upper components, metal pieces went into the polisher.

The rails are attached with long staples. I pried the rails off and used a dremmel to cut off the staples. I'll drill pilot holes and reattach the rails using wood screws.
20180602_125534 (resized).jpg20180602_125534 (resized).jpg
Sanded the top with 100, 220, then 400. Silky smooth. Now placed old lamps back in the sockets and sprayed several coats of clear lacquer. The lamps keep the sockets clear from the lacquer.

Overlay time..careful, careful...
My son is helping guide the overlay into place. And BOOM!! Lined it up near perfect! Judging by the rollover switch slots, I couldn't have gotten any closer. So happy with this!
This was my first attempt at an overlay.

20180602_155803 (resized).jpg20180602_155803 (resized).jpg20180602_160143 (resized).jpg20180602_160143 (resized).jpg

My procedure:
-Once the lacquer was dry, I quick sanded it again with 660 just to knock the small specks off and smooth any remaining imperfections.
-Lined up the overlay using the guide marks. I punched out the holes for the kick outs, drop targets and outhole.
- I used masking tape to secure the overlay in the center, backing still on. In other words I taped the overlay around the edge of the playfield to the underside so it can't slide easily.
- I used an LED flashlight to shine through the inserts to double check location several times and make small moves.
- once happy, I rolled the top back about 4" and cut the backing off. Using a small plastic felt tipped squeegee, I carefully rolled the top down and smoothed it out.
- I then undid the tape and rolled the bottom back to where the overlay top was secured. With the help of my son, we slowly removed the backing and smoothed the overlay down with the squeegee.

#66 5 years ago

This is the squeegee I used. It's about 3" long. I got mine from car wrap kits online. I have used foil car wrap to make inexpensive mirror blades in other machines. It's important to use felt covered so you don't scratch the overlay.

#67 5 years ago

So my original drop targets were dirty BUT not broken or physically worn. While the assembly was loose, I cleaned them up with simple green.
I can't justify buying brand new when they operate perfectly. I purchased a set of laminated decals at 1/3 of the cost and I'm happy with the results.

20180602_151804 (resized).jpg20180602_151804 (resized).jpg20180602_152353 (resized).jpg20180602_152353 (resized).jpg20180602_170823 (resized).jpg20180602_170823 (resized).jpg
#69 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinballerchef:

With that overlay...is that all you do?? You don't CC it or anything? It looks super thin and would wear easily.

If it was going to be routed, I'd probably clear coat it. But in a home environment, pretty sure it will be okay. It's reversed printed, so the ink is underneath the mylar sheet. I'll most likely wax and play!

#70 5 years ago

The final tidbit this evening was rewiring of the control panel. Two new top flipper buttons and two new metallic cones for the start buttons. I have new leaf switches for the side flipper buttons once it goes back into the cabinet.

Quoted from brainmegaphone:

Phoenix Arcade. Top quality stuff.

Yes. Phoenix Arcade. They have everything Baby Pac related.

Reattached the sidea rails this morning. Drilled small pilot holes throigh the playfield and added larger countersink holes underneath. Used 3/4" wood screws to secure the rails. Worked great.

Doing some work uderneath, converted all the lamps to LEDs. Added new bushings for the flippers. I also found the missing coin door socket. It was hacked into the lamps behind the flippers. I didn't like how it was located in there so I just replaced it with a more modern socket. Yes, I do have the diode in there.

Calling it quits early today. Starting to get the playfield repopulated. Scrubbed the star posts before reattaching them. I decided to go with clear superbands after seeing a machine on YouTube that looked good with them.

I have new spinner decals ordered from classic arcades as well.

QUESTION FOR BABY PAC OWNERS:
I received this extra square plastic with the new plastics set. It wasn't in my original set up. What is this for and where does it go in relation to the large rear plastic?
Does this prevent ball jams in the drops? That was quite evident before tear down.

20180603_161613 (resized).jpg20180603_161613 (resized).jpg
#79 5 years ago

I'll probably be crucified for my flipper choice by the purists, but again, I saw this in a video online and loved the color scheme. I think it fits well with the Pac-Man theme!

20180603_175110 (resized).jpg20180603_175110 (resized).jpg
#81 5 years ago
Quoted from Biffbar:

That extra clear plastic goes over the captive ball and protects the art on the screened plastics.

Thanks for the info. It seems as if it raises that screened plastic also so there is more clearance to prevent ball wedges in the drops. This targent bank has no adjustable parts anywhere.

#82 5 years ago

I had a bit of time to work on baby Pac tonight. First off the new coin door plate arrived. This is a terrible fuzzy pic but you'll get the idea. The protective film is still on it for now.

20180604_212832 (resized).jpg20180604_212832 (resized).jpg
Here's the link if anyone else would like one:
ebay.com link: Midway Coin Door Plate Fun is Our Business

I added some more hardware to the playfield, specifically ball guide rails. They are tough to line up because you have to feel for the dimples under the overlay and then use a tiny drill bit to start the hole so you don't stretch or tear the overlay.
20180604_212845 (resized).jpg20180604_212845 (resized).jpg

I used some bondo to fill in deep gouges on the cabinet. Using a rotary sander, buffed it smooth. This is still a major work in progress while I figure out what works best. It seems the smaller scratches will sand right out. I'm also attempting to knock of the swollen edges where the cab took on some moisture. It's not terrible by any means, I've seen much worse. I'd like to smooth it out as best as possible.

This old side art has me stumped as far as removal. It won't budge! I've tried chemicals, razors, freezing it...nothing is working.

20180604_212856 (resized).jpg20180604_212856 (resized).jpg20180604_212902 (resized).jpg20180604_212902 (resized).jpg

Lesson learned: any future sanding will be done outdoors on my porch! What a frickin mess I made inside!

#86 5 years ago
Quoted from Niterider:

I assume you also tried a heat gun?

Good idea. However, not owning a heat gun, I had to try with a hair dryer on hi. Whoa...it's peeling right off. But you've gotta keep that vinyl sticker hot!

Added LED strips under the "apron" plastics to light up Pac and Ms Pac. I stole this idea from TNT Amusements. They are simply wired into the GI string.
I also have several corroded GI sockets. I ordered a 10 pack of the wedge sockets from a China supplier to replace the bad ones. I can address those from underneath, so no need to put the project on hold waiting.

I installed the new plastics set from Phoenix Arcades. Looks fantastic and they include 2 extra pieces. One to protect the drop target/captive ball area and a second one above the drain hole. I used new nylon pal nuts instead of the rubber nubs to secure the plastics.

Quoted from brainmegaphone:

you have the wrong plate on your coin door.

Yes indeed, BUT I also have the "wrong" color flippers, incorrect blue color on the overlay, wrong volcano start buttons, and just wait til you see what I do with the side flipper buttons!

I've never been a purist, I'm having fun and bringing a neglected machine back to acceptable standards for me.

Crack Baby Pac doesnt follow the rules!!

#94 5 years ago
Quoted from tamoore:

Nice job. You're really cranking on it.
Baby pac has the distinction of being both the least played pinball machine and the least played video game in my whole arcade. It's pretty unique in that regard.

Thank you
I think the 'issue' with baby Pac is that no one understands the rules. I know as a kid, I didn't. Now that I understand it, man this is a fun challenging game! I like it more than Ms Pac Man. Even my 8 yr old daughter loves it once I explained what she has to do; and now she keeps asking me when it'll be ready to play again.

#95 5 years ago

Working on the cabinet outside today. Let me refresh everyones memory, my goal is not to produce an absolutely perfect prestine cabinet free from 'orange peel' etc. My goal is to fix the large gouges and other imperfections in hopes to produce a very acceptable cabinet.

First, I filled in the large lock bar holes with bondo and then sanded smooth after they cured for about 48hrs.

20180607_131745 (resized).jpg20180607_131745 (resized).jpg

The next large "annoyance" was several drywall screws that were holding the cab together. I found it necessary to leave them in place for the integrity of the cabinet, however, they protruded out to far. My solution was to remove them, drill a larger countersink hole and then run the screws back in. Finish up with bondo in the holes so they would disappear. Here's the result.

My daughter is helping to paint the cabinet. We're using a mid grade interior semi gloss paint and applying it with a hard rubbery roller designed for glossy surfaces. So far I'm happy with the results, but it's gonna take several coats.

After 7 maybe 8 coats over the course of 8+ hrs, I'm happy with the results and baby Pac is allowed back inside. No, it's not perfect; will it bother me? Nope, not the least bit, so much better than what we started with.
I'm going to wait several days until the paint cures before I apply the new side art decals.

20180607_223146 (resized).jpg20180607_223146 (resized).jpg

I should also mention, four brand new levelers (feet) went on the bottom. A lot of drilling and cursing went on to remove one heavily rusted bugger that refused to come loose.

#99 5 years ago

So, I have become overly excited to get this thing fired back up again. Let's put stuff back together!!!
Newly painted speaker grills and the polished up coin door go first.

Control panel goes on next with brand new leaf switches for the side flipper buttons. I have no idea how the original switches even worked, they were dirty as sh*t!
Uh-oh what's that? Are those clear flipper buttons? What is he going to do with those? Haha, wait and see!

So close...I have to throw in the playfield and hook it up. Might as well vacuum out all the crap (and possibly left over crack) laying in the bottom of the cabinet while I'm in here.
FIngers crossed and throw the power switch

It's alive!!

This isn't finished by any means yet. There's still a lot of tidy up work and cosmetics to clean up.
*New T molding is ordered. I'm using Tron blue on the sides and a strip of pink across the top of the marquee.
*Side art needs applied once the paint cures
*I need a new lock for the control panel. My dumb @$$ broke the original.
*Several GI sockets need replaced due to corrosion.
*I have a few playfield LEDs that are being flaky
*A couple switches need tweeked. I have a broken diode on the one kickout hole.
*I need to adjust the left flipper, it's hanging a hair too low.
*I may spring for a new marquee. The original has a chunk flaked off the corner.
*those clear flipper buttons need "finished"

I will keep updating as I check off the to-do list. Overall, major accomplishments today!

Quoted from sixtyfourbits:

I also enjoy seeing that the rebuild has become a father-daughter project. The memories you both will have make it even more special

Thank you for following! Yes this does make it more special. My son helped with the overlays and my youngest daughter loved painting the cabinet! Middle daughter couldn't care less about the project lol. But that's okay.

This thread is moving right along...

I didn't think this project would progress quite so fast. I anticipated more snags and slower shipping times on part orders, but everything is just coasting right along. Hope I didn't jinx myslef.

Look what came today!! T-molding!!
I have to thank pinsider MrBellMan who is graciously hooking me up with a small needed piece of pink T-molding. And also a shout out to pinsider Cheddar for supplying me with the lead. I want to add just a 21" section of pink above the marquee just to "flash it up" a bit. Pics of the blue to come.

I love how the blue molding and Pac Man yellow kind of clash with your eyes. Very sharp in my opinion.

So here's a helpful tip to anyone else thinking about doing a playfield overlay. Upon re-assembling the machine, I was having issues with the kick out holes not registering the ball. When I sprayed the lacquer on the bare wood playfield, I neglected to cover the kickouts like I did with the lamp sockets. The switch contacts were all gunked up with lacquer. Once I cleaned them, troubles went away.

I also found a cold solder joint on the lamp matrix pcb under the playfield. This was causing my flaky lamp issue.

#111 5 years ago

Ok on to the clear flipper buttons I mentioned earlier. Yes, I'm going to illuminate them, but not with any old LED, color changers! Why? Because the ghosts change colors and I like color changers! Plus my kids suggested it as a "cool idea." Can't argue with that.

Here's how I did it. And this really can apply to any pinball machine. It is the same idea as TNT Amusements "Lite-A-Matic" (if you follow along with their YouTube channel).

First I needed a 6v power source. Easiest place to snag that is the coin door light sockets. No splicing wires, altering connectors, etc. I added a molex connector on the other end for easy coin door removal.
**Please everyone, when you add wires and connectors to your games, label them so the next guy knows what you did!!!20180608_140649 (resized).jpg20180608_140649 (resized).jpg
20180608_140513 (resized).jpg20180608_140513 (resized).jpg

#113 5 years ago

Next I had to line up the LEDs so they would shine into the rear of the button. I use 90° flex LEDs from Comet. Insert them into the socket and mark the location for a pilot hole.

20180608_141742 (resized).jpg20180608_141742 (resized).jpg
Do this for both sides. Next I cut a length of wire for each socket long enough to reach the connector I built near the coin door. I shrink tube the connections at the socket to prevent any shorts.

20180608_142524 (resized).jpg20180608_142524 (resized).jpg
Once both sides built, screw the sockets into place. I then ran the other ends of wire into the second half of the molex connector.

20180608_144900 (resized).jpg20180608_144900 (resized).jpg

Finally, I went back through and tidied up all the wiring with small zip ties. This is important, you don't want wires running willy nilly all over the place. It has to look professional.

And there you have it! A fun inexpensive mod that can easily be removed without damage by the next owner if they so choose.

#116 5 years ago
Quoted from brainmegaphone:

Agree 100% about labeling mods.

I can't tell you how many machines I've dug through trying to figure out what a stray wire was used for.

Quoted from Pinballerchef:

Looking forward to some PINK.

My fellow pinsider will be shipping the pink remnants this weekend. Just threw some blue up top so I don't have to look at the bare wood.

#118 5 years ago

Not much happening with baby Pac tonight. Did a quick light sanding by hand with 600 just to knock some bumps off the fresh paint and smooth it up for the side art yet to come.

Played a few games, and man does that new playfield play fast! I wonder how it would be with a power ball in there?

#119 5 years ago

I applied the side art today. As far as lining it up, I drilled 3 very tiny holes along the bottom of the original stickers. All I had to do was line up the new stickers with those same 3 holes (which get covered up) and the new art falls into relatively the same place as the originals.

Just some odds and ends today. Installed the new control panel lock since I broke the original. This is a 1 1/8" lock, not the same as coin door locks.

The new spinner decals arrived today from Jeff at Classic Arcades. We had a bit of a mix up with the online order, but he attended to it promptly.
The decals look a ton better than my chipped up painted originals.

I couldn't help but add a bit of bling to my arcade area. Thanks to a nice ebay coupon and gift card from a survey, I purchased one of these cool 'small tube' neons from China.
The quality is very nice, and it arrived safely in about a week! So cool!!!

Did you get your pink t-molding yet?

No, it's on the way. The pinsider offering it has been busy. Soon enough.

The new lamp sockets I ordered from China arrived to replace the heavily corroded GI sockets. No, not original, but still a wedge base lamp and they fit into the holes perfectly. I just cut the leads short, strip and tin the ends and they solder right onto the tabs where the original socket was removed. I have all the GI lamps working now.

I also created a post today seeking assistance in rebuilding the CRT monitor chassis. I'd like to have it bullet proofed since the rest of the game looks and plays like new
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/who-does-crt-monitor-rebuilds-

I'm still on the fence whether to purchase a new monitor bezel and marquee or live wrh what I have.
Each one has minor flaking in a corner. I guess I could offer the originals for sale at heavily discounted prices just to recoup some of the cost.

#129 5 years ago

This morning, after watching several chassis removal videos on YouTube, I successfully removed the Baby Pac monitor chassis without electrocuting myself! All in all, if you're careful and patient, it's very easy. That chassis has never been pulled, the ground wire that usually gets cut was still intact.

Pinsider silver_spinner will be doing the rebuild/check-up. I'm hoping this will address the distortion on the right side of the monitor that disappears once it warms up.

Looks like an old Toshiba is in this game.

Quoted from gutz:

Monitors are named for the chassis/pcb, not the glass tube. A particular monitor could have been sold with several tube manufacturers. That is a wells gardner k4800 chassis, which is the 13" variant of the extremely common 19" k4900.
That black piece in the neckboard socket should remain on the tube to protect the alignment of the pins. Not a big deal, but be careful when reinstalling.

Thanks for the lesson.
Good information. Like I said, I'm great with pinballs, but I'm a complete noob when it comes to arcade monitors.

We have pink! Pinsider MrBellMan offered up some leftover pink so I could trim above the marquee. I think it adds the perfect touch. Some may not agree, but that's ok, I love it!

I originally thought it would look better as all one color, but now that you have the pink on there, I really like how it looks. Gives it a more unique look, more character. I prefer it with the pink.

Exactly! I'm looking to give this former "crack baby" pac character. The 2 tone molding matches well with the blue/pink cab art. I personally like and am sticking with it.

In an effort to pay kindness forward, I have enough pink leftover that I can supply someone else with a piece long enoigh to outfit their baby pac like this one if you choose. Just PM me, I'll edit this post once it's claimed.

Is it done?? Well kind of, yes! I'll probably invest in a new marquee and bezel at some point but the ones I have will do for now. Caninet, coin door, playfield, control panel, electronics, TV have all been addressed.
And I couldn't be happier. I love this game! It can be brutal, or it can last 15 minutes! Best of both worlds, pinball and pac-man.

Thank you to all those that followed along! Thank you to all those that helped and contributed!
Thank you Biffbar for offering this 'Gangsta Baby' aka 'crack baby' Pac Man.
