Quoted from jwwhite15:

He just wants to play pinball...not get molested too! No need to post that crap!

I think that is Evan's listing from OC Pinball in Fullerton. He's a member here:

https://pinside.com/pinball/community/pinsiders/surfsidedetail

I bought something from him in August. No molesting.

Quoted from TheOnlyest:

Well, he has one fan I guess... It's your wallet that gets molested, and i'm sure you paid at least twice whatever you bought was worth.

I found him because he happened to have the specific EM that I was looking for. He delivered, set-up and even came out twice to service the machine in the first 30 days as part of his warranty. So, no...neither me nor my wallet was molested.

Would you mind sharing your source for amazing pinball machine deals?

Quoted from Pinballlew:

I would be pissed if my tax dollars were going to deliver pinball machines all over the state.

I mean...there are worse things our tax dollars could be spent on!

...the pro is the way to go and they’re $5200 new.
I have 4 people want to buy my Aerosmith Pro ... I tried to get them to buy your Premium (it’s a good deal, even after shipping it here) but they all prefer the pro as a player.
rd

Why is that? I've only played the pro version.

Have my GOT pro for sale with upgraded Stern armor, topper and art blades, as well as a couple of others.

Good luck with the sale, Steve!

Does this mean one of your deposit games is ready to ship?

Quoted from twinmice:

Anybody know of any Hobbits around Santa Clarita to play? Has to be in nice shape as my wife wants to play one to see if she likes it, and first impressions are everything. lol

Pinballmap.com isn't always right, so it may be worth a call to this place to see if it is still there and set up properly:

https://pinballmap.com/la?utf8=%E2%9C%93&by_machine_id=2572&by_machine_name=

70 miles each way to evaluate a $7,000+ purchase isn't insane.

Quoted from Rarehero:

Fuck, I don’t post for like 5 months and nothing’s changed.

Au contraire, buddy. You've missed some fantastic stuff recently:

1. There was a great John Wort thread
2. Someone was trying to sell a pair of cowboy boots
3. We helped o-din invest some of his retirement savings
4. A 20-something kid was looking to finance the Supreme machine, because: Millennials

It's not all flame wars about which $8,000 machine people should buy or why stuff in the hobby is way overpriced anymore!

#6636 1 year ago
Quoted from Jarson:

Captains Auction has a hobbit for sale tomorrow, they let you try the games between 9 am and 11 am. In Anaheim

I was fishing around on their website and notice that they post the sales prices. This is helpful.

Here's the link:

https://www.bidspotter.com/en-us/auction-catalogues/bsccapt/catalogue-id-bsccapt10084/search-filter?archiveSearch=False&type=Pinball%20Machine

EDIT #2: 18% buyers premium plus 8% sales tax, so adjust prices accordingly.

#6643 1 year ago
Quoted from Coindork:

Yeah, auctions are funny. The prices are often not indicative of market conditions, rather what two bidders are willing to pay on a specific day.
Take away the winning bidder and the same machine brings one bid over the second highest bidder, which can be a vastly different price.
That being said, they are certainly attracting bidders.

That's exactly what happened with this GI. Before I found the price sheet, I ended up on their FB page watching a video of the auction.

It almost gaveled at $3,100...bit two guys seemed to be going back-to-back, resulting in a bid war!

#6652 1 year ago
Quoted from Jvspin:

I remember going to an auction years ago. Was a bit disillusioned when I noticed owners bidding on their own machines.
Many of the games were won by the owners when the bid price didn't get high enough for them. Later learned this is called a "buy back" and is common.

This seems...ethically questionable, but I guess if they pay the buyer's premium and sales tax, the auction house is happy. Plus, having a reserve would actually decrease the chances that some of these things sell which hurts the auction house.

What a world.

Can you imagine eating $750 on a $3,000 game of yours that you have buy back?

#6655 1 year ago
Quoted from Jvspin:

The owners didn't have to pay sales tax and buyers premium, just a small fee to buy the games back.

Well, boo if true.

I’ve pretty much made my last price reduction on Taxi. If no one wants it st this price, I may put it in storage till next spring.

Maybe I'll have room for it next spring if you don't end up selling it this time around!

All of this Kawhi Leonard talk around LA has got me pumped about basketball. Anyone have any basketball-themed pins for sale? Nothing ever seems to come up for sale...

#8129 75 days ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Stern NBA is really rare...only about 300 made, but also not really desirable. If you can find one, it's actually pretty dang fun...the ball launch into the net trick is very fun and works every time (at least on the ones I've played)

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I'm just bored and wanted this joke to play out:

Quoted from gunstarhero:

If only there was a pin that featured a legendary Lakers player...
...but nope. No Kobe, Kareem or Magic pins.

Now I feel bad.

#8132 75 days ago
Quoted from jahbarron:

Those guys weren't a brand, though.

I wonder if I could re-theme it? Maybe do a Michael Olowokandi version?

#8134 75 days ago
Quoted from jahbarron:

At $900, there's nothing you can't do to it.
Except for play balls 2 & 3.

Which is why an Olowokandi pin would be perfect. He couldn't do anything on a basketball court.

Quoted from Colsond3:

Wanted: somewhere to play. I’m in LA, technically Castaic through the end of the week. I need to get my pinball fix while I’m out here if anybody wants some company. Or if anybody has any suggestions where to play.

You can't beat Shane's place (doomid) in Van Nuys: http://www.aycegogi.com/ Shane has an amazing collection that is as well-maintained as any location anywhere.

I'm also a huge fan of Walt's in Eagle Rock - https://www.yelp.com/biz/walts-bar-los-angeles Walt's has a nice sampling of early SS games ( Harlem Globetrotters On Tour Eight Ball Deluxe Fathom etc.) but beware that it is filthy with hipsters. Filthy.

Down the street from Walt's is the new Barcade - https://barcadelosangeles.com/. Hipster caveat applies here as well. Maybe that's a selling point for you. I don't judge.

Button Mash http://buttonmashla.com/ and Eighty Two http://eightytwo.la/ also work. Both closed on Mondays, though.

To be honest, I had to look that up on the map.
