Quoted from jwwhite15:

...wish you hadn't used those lame rubber wanna-be acorns though

I will back up the use of the rubber post caps.
They work extremely well; better than the old crappy metal ones AND can get the plastics tighter/quieter than the nylon acorn- especially if you're on your 12th game re-rubbering of the day! (Arcade Expo)
Newer games of course should go with the traditional lock-nut.

For your health!

Waaaaay ahead of ya' buddy!

Sorry CactusJack,
I guess I should have clarified "butter..." (better?)
All the games at Arcade Expo I have swapped the pal nuts for rubber caps have been wedgies so far.
Still- I don't see a problem with using them on 70's Gottlieb's or Premier games either. They hold tight enough for regular play and CAN give way IF the ball does indeed strike the plastic at full force, thus saving the plastic from damage.
(How often are you going to find new replacement Rock plastics anyway?)
I'd rather lose the rubber cap than crack a plastic.
The whole noise thing/comment was just meant for EM games that have huge sets of target banks resetting at once.

Mostly I was just giving jww15 $#!t (jokingly) for passing on a game simply because it had post rubbers instead of the speed nuts...

Sorry if I made you have to type a reply like: "Hatin' on speed nuts?!? Not on MY watch!!!".

I do think the pal nuts of "today" are crappy though; especially if you have to go through three or four of them to find one that finally fits properly. (and no, I never used the nylon nuts on GTB's)

Fingers crossed us "volunteers" (<----!) can dare to dream we get all 550 machines up and fully running at AE, let alone shopping them as if they were going under the electron microscope for some CL ne'er-do-well. (not you jww15. )

Anyhoo,
If you or anyone else local who would like to come and help out at Arcade Expo, please feel free!
I'm usually there Sundays and a Tuesday or two.
They do give us food, bathroom breaks and the occasional "thanks!"
Plus,
We usually go bowling afterward at the Morongo Lanes and surprisingly RVDV is becoming quite the rack shredder!

Dude...
Check your living room Spicoli!
I've been here the whollllleee time, putting rubber post caps on Twister!

To all "Dark Side of the Moon-ers" who were worried if O-Din was finally fed in time, fear not...
Trusty Mt. Vesuvius erupted onto the scene just in the nick; with sourdough bread too!

I think Nordman might of had a hand in concocting tonight's fare???

Quoted from CactusJack:

And I will appreciate every game, regardless of the type of post cap used.

Belated "Merry Christmas", Cactus!

IMG_2433.jpgIMG_2433.jpg
No offense was taken since we were just sharing our experiences; naturally of course, people will choose to do what they want to their games regardless of our opinions.
I'd be happy just to see all of them on and playing 100% by the time January 16th rolls around!

End of nut.

I'm just fine guys...
38+ hours of no sleep and counting!
Thanks for the concern RVDV!
(Even though you really just want me back so I can keep helping out at Arcade Expo...)

Hey RotorDizzle,
Looks like that IM could use some rubber post caps!
Good thing I always bring spares!

#1016 9 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

I guess I'll have to wait a couple weeks for El Farolito until they get back.

Fiona actually made some pretty tasty salsa the other day so we're not going through severe Farolito's withdrawals just yet.
Gorgar and BK are looking quite nice in the ol' garage!
In the words/accent of my new friend Franck,
"It is...howdoyousay, a verrry NICE pairr O-Din!"

Oh well, timing was everything I guess......

Funny thing was, I had the cash to buy it back a couple of days later.
Sad to see it go to the Flipmode Squad...
I'm just going to take a guess that the goodie bag/manual will magically appear on eBay AFTER the machine is sold.
Good times!

Quoted from Rarehero:

Damn, that sucks....but at the same time makes me think I'm sitting on a $1000 Caribbean Cruise lol

Wow Rare,
You MIGHT just be the long lost third Corona brother that went missing at Sea......................World all those years ago!
Should I call Maury to get those tests rolling?

#2957 8 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Please don't insult me by comparing me to those jackwads.

Well, I did type MIGHT in all caps...
We all know that if you actually were related, you would've jested that your Caribbean Cruise was in fact $2000+ and the important manual that had originally come with it was somehow misplaced or forgotten when sold to the next buyer.

Anyhoo, it was just a joke folks! Nothing more, nothing less.

Hot Tip EM up for sale. S-O-L-L-L-D-D-D!!!
1300 made but how many in above average shape?
Stripped, cleaned, re-bulbed and waxed PF, all new Titan white silicone rubbers. Translucent orange "W" logo'd flipper bats w/ orange Titan rubber. (I have traditional white bats if you're not a fan.) New blue white star drops since red was MIA and changed bullseye cap over to a teal diffused (I have the worn originals for the completeists.)
Backglass is unfaded but has a few red spots (lower right jockey arm) that peeled off. PF has a couple of paint wear spots near saucers and one small bit on the right return lane. (see pics) New orange powder legs and new levellers with contrasting green leg protectors to finish it off.
Plays as good as it looks and is ready for a new owner.

Games is SOLD!!!

Thanks for the lack of interest California...

Quoted from MrArt2u:

Not sure how much extra work that would be.

Usually I just take a roll of butcher paper and an art pencil to make a "rubbing" off the back of the old stripped PF.
I then transfer the paper over to the new PF, making sure the inserts are for the most part aligned to the old one. Once aligned and taped down, I take a sharp awl and start mapping the old PF screw holes through the rubbing; making small location changes when necessary.

#4062 7 years ago
Quoted from Spock:

Think its really accurate?

Well, the sensor for it is suspended in complete shade without any other radiant heating element affecting it on the north side of the house so, if this is indeed accurate, we are most definitely SCREWED for summer.

image_(resized).jpegimage_(resized).jpeg

I do like the crisp, clean display over my old one though. Nice and bright and can be powered from the wall or with standard batteries.

#4065 7 years ago

To it's defense, it does feel like 120 degrees right now so, YMMV...
Hell, even the ants didn't want to come out today.
If it was any hotter, I'd be hallucinating tobacco spitting cupcakes right about now...

Anyhoo,
We now return you to your lawn barren SoCal for sale thread already in progress!

if it has his stamp of approval, must be good.

Sure sure Troz is good people but does that make it an extra $2000 "good?"

(I'm a buyer at $5200 cash though if you are REALLY ready to part with it Jason. Seriously...

Quoted from Aurich:

Sure, it's easy for me to say, I already did my waiting for it.

Booyah!
And not even close to a 3+ year wait for a JJP either. lol
I mean, it hasn’t even hit a full year since TPF 2017 and we already have our games.
Scott and Spooky are doing just fine with the (clutch the pearls!) realistic pace they set.

Quoted from o-din:

Yeah, and you went to the show and got to play it.

Isn’t it amazing when you step out into the world and experience what living the Pin-life’s all about?
I kiid I kiiiid O-Din, Fullerton is still great.

How many plays on the Stars?

Thousands upon thousands…

Yep, you got me Aurich!
Classics get played more than the modern stuff for sure around here.

This particular batch was from the “Covid Era“ of gaming so, unfortunately not a lot of foot traffic through the ol’ NimbleCade during said lull.

Good for the new buyers at least!
