Any boxing fans here?

I'm a pretty casual fan, but I've been a little reinvigorated by some of the bigger matches on ESPN in the last couple of years. Other than that, I sometimes host some of the PPV matches (Canelo/GGG is a dream matchup for me, though maybe a little late for GGG).

Hell yeah my man! I was planning on making a thread of my own at some point (I probably still will at some point).

My brother and I own and operate a boxing club just outside of boxing. The gym is 7,500 square feet, has a 22' elevated competition ring, 32 custom heavy bags (in the process of adding more), and numerous conditioning equipment such as Concept 2 Rowers, Assault Bikes, Kettlebells, and battle ropes.

I've been coaching competitive boxing for 15 years now, and we just took home two championship belts this month. We're hosting live fights this weekend at our place. We have 23 bouts scheduled, and 12 different local boxing clubs joining us for the event.

Here's a link to our Facebook and Instagram:

While we focus on competitive boxing, conditioning classes keep our lights on. Additionally, we work with a number of amateur and professional MMA fighters including a UFC and Bellator veteran.

Before transitioning into the role of a coach, I competed as an amateur boxer for many years. My father was a boxing coach and had worked with world champion boxers in the past.

I was very disappointed to see that HBO is dropping boxing. I don't think that's a good sign for the sport. They've been running ads for DAZN which will have Saturday's Canelo Alvarez fight. The first month is free, so I'll sign up to see if it's any good.

I enjoy MMA, but I've always enjoyed boxing more.

Streaming services almost always seem to have problems, or at least during the high-demand fights. I also don't like the DAZN thing.. but everything is going toward a streaming service these days. The ESPN fights have been pretty good, I'm hoping they can keep the momentum moving.

I used to get in a lot of fights when I was a kid and had a pretty wicked left jab that basically kept me from ever losing a fight on the schoolyard. In my early 20’s I joined a boxing gym but after only a few weeks I had to quit. I got my wisdom teeth pulled and it opened up a hole between my mouth and sinus and caused a bit of damage. I couldn’t risk getting hit in the cheek so had to quit. Still bummed about it.

I would kinda like to get my son into it if he is interested. Not really a fan of MMA but really enjoy a good boxing match. Too bad the heavyweight division is so bad these days.

HBO dropping boxing caught me off guard and it doesn't give me the warm fuzzies about where boxing is headed.
I'll follow suit and give the one month of DAZN free a try and go from there.

Love boxing. MMA is crazy popular, maybe too much where there will be burn out in a few years. I'm weird because I'm a wrestler. My favorite combat sport to watch is Greco-Roman Wrestling.

Watching the undercard. Not the same without Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman, and my personal favorite Harold Lederman. "Let's go to Harold Lederman to see how he has the fight scored so far...." "Okay Jim!" Man I'll miss that.

I really dont care for kellerman. He was great when he sat next to bert sugar and offered his humble opinions. At some point he must have seen the success all the hot take guys were having, and decided to take on a much more brazen persona.

I guess he doesn't bother me that much. Larry Merchant always had a set of balls on him, he was never afraid to ask some pointed questions to boxers, especially after they benefited from some questionable decisions.

I started to question his eyesight/judgment over the last year or two.'
Sometimes I wondered if we were watching the same fights.

Bump with some fight news.

I don't know how many people here have a subscription to UFC Fight Pass, but I have a guy making his Pro Boxing debut on Friday and the fight will be aired on Fight Pass. The promotion is "Murphy's Boxing," and is owned by Ken Casey of the Dropkick Murphy's. The fight will be held at the brand new, $2.6 billion dollar Encore Casino in front of a crowd of 2,300+ people.

My brother (fellow Pinsider) and I will be in the corner for the fight. While I've worked hundreds of bouts, this will be the biggest stage for sure. I'll post updates after the fight, but feel free to ask me any questions in the meantime.
