I've found out the negative side of the surprise. I had agreed to 13 dollars for the part (what marco has as the price https://www.marcospecialties.com/control/keywordsearch?SEARCH_STRING=510-7815-18) plus 10 or so in shipping when I talked to the distributor for the original plastic. I was not informed there was a change and now I get an invoice for more than $50. 20 for the kit and $30 for freight shipping of a tiny box. It's insane. They said I have to pay double shipping because it shipped from stern to them and from them to me. I would never had agreed to that.

I should have just bought the mod and replaced the sanctum entirely.

Yes, Marco charged me like $17.50 for a part the size of my fingernail once.

at least with marco, pinball life, etc you can order other items to make the shipping worthwhile and you know upfront what it is and can comparison shop. I always wait until I have a number of things to get the most for the shipping dollar.

That’s ridiculous! BTW, I have the Sanctum mod and my plastic is also broke. Only on one side so is still ok. There’s just no support there so what you have might still be worth it

Question for you all - One of the LED's in the STRANGE letter (R) has stopped displaying any red color - it can only produce green and blue, so oftentimes it appears differently than the rest of the letters.

Is this something that can be fixed myself? Or does it warrant a new board entirely if I want to fix it? Anyone have a link to the board? I did some searching and couldn't find it..

Yes, it can be fixed.

Start a separate tech thread to get better help since this is a generic question: How to replace an RGB LED on a spike 2 lamp board.

You need to identity what part is needed and how to swap it.

You can also search the other surface mount repair threads to start learning.

FYI - That LED18 is part of the MID LEFT LED BOARD 9B which you can reference in the premium manual on pages 19, 35, and 41.

Question for the group, i have a new to me premium and when I start the game the gems are all light in the gauntlet, now they are dimmer than if I have one collected. Is this the normal behavior of the gauntlet?

Yes, that is normal behavior. The gems are flickering to start with. When Thanos has them (it's Thanos's gauntlet), they light up. When the Avengers have them, they go OUT on the gauntlet, because they are on the playfield instead. The goal is to make the lights on the gauntlet go OUT because that means Thanos doesn't have them.

Dimly flickering = not contested yet
Bright = Thanos has it
Off = You have it (it's on the playfield instead)
Flashing = Quest is currently in progress

Off = "just about to be re-taken by Thanos in Thanos Attacks"

I apologize ahead of time if the question has been asked before but I cannot seem to figure out the search topic function. I am having an issue with the lower half of the playfield going completely dark/dead mid game on my premium. I can’t use the flippers and the ball usually drains in the 5-10 seconds this happens. There doesn’t seem to be any correlation or regularity to this happening with anything in game. Is there a fix to this issue? Thanks for any info you have.

I love the Dr strange mode where you get limited flips to make the shots... that's soo soo cool.

Hi there, what software version are you running? One of them was notorious for this! Either way, try updating to newer version.

If updating code doesn't fix this, then this is a node board problem, the board is cutting out and resetting somehow. Try unplugging and replugging the connectors to the node boards in that area. If that doesn't help, then contact Stern support for a replacement node board.

You gotta take the bad with the good in this game. I’ve learned to accept the fact that I will have bad games, just because the exit lanes are so hungry and if you miss a shot, it can make you pay. Always try to run multiball with portal locks or Iron Man or Thor MBs during Gem Quests and use them to help collect the Avengers. Mind Gem and Power Gem are super important for score and progress. *Big thing with this game is not to take unnecessary risks with shots if you don’t have to*, at least IMO..

Last few games the magnetic lock in the tower isn’t always releasing correctly. If I just got an Iron Man ball lock it sometimes holds it until ball search forces release.
This doesn’t happen when the Hawkeye Challenge is activated, though. For anything with a timed release it works perfectly.

Do I like the OG plastic better? Yes.
Do I like IC at this location much more than on the coin door? Yes. Trade-offs.

For example, there's protective film you need to remove. Not mentioned. Only noticed it because, after installed, I was like "crap my IC is scraped." Luckily it was just the film, so I removed it (requiring disassembly!).

Note: I'll probably remove the IC card on the apron and replace with original.

The rules for AIQ are deep and wide, I knew this before purchasing.

I’ve been watching some tutorials and reading the rules. However, it’s not clear to me how much of the rules you need to memorize vs. the game helping you.

For example, the game sometimes says “shoot the right ramp” or similar. Assuming this is right, it’s helping you.

Here’s an example. In mind gem you shoot avenger shots to find out who is being controlled. How does the game tell you this?

The rules say “RGB color light blue”. Does that mean the required shots have blue inserts? If so, does the game mention that “blue” is the active shot color?

Or do you really need to memorize this stuff.

I’m at lunch reading the rules so cannot try it out.

For your specific question, yes, if you know all of the Ins and outs of the rules, it definitely helps, but you don't necessarily need to know everything though to get deeper into the game.

For the Mind gem quest - One of the blue lights will flash.. this is the preffered shot to make and then spin the disk for that Avenger to break free. If you shoot all of the flashing blue shots and spin the disk, you will complete the quest. If you shoot the steady blue shots and spin the disk, you will have to also shoot the Sanctum target to finish the quest.

Depending on the break I have used IPS Weld-On 3 to fix some broken clear pinball plastics, a hairline crack in a ramp, and cracks in snowmobile windshields. I have not had to use it on printed pinball plastics but a little goes a long way. If you do decide to go the repair route removing both pieces of the plastic is a must. Here is a video I watched years ago when I first started using it:

Is there anything in any of the gem modes that cause the flippers to die for like 2 seconds? This one location I play at I'll be playing a gem and a multi-ball and then the flippers just die for a second or two and then come back.

No. That shouldn't be happening.

No, that's never normal (the only times the flippers die are when you win the wizard modes Battle Royale and Battle Thanos, but you aren't getting that far.) It's a node board problem, it's cutting out and resetting. Tell the operator he needs to fix it.

Tilting causes the flippers to die. The flippers stay dead until all balls in play land in the trough. No bonus is awarded, and it is the end of that ball.
