Quoted from Richter1019:If you’re planning on keeping it for a while, go premium. If not, go pro. It’s challenging and is great for long term home use. To me, the widow-marvel-iron man combo is one of the most satisfying combos ever. Then you can finish it off with the Hawkeye inner loop. Can’t do that on a pro. Also, the rising disk is easier for beginners to get. Shoot it in to start a quest or lock a ball…
My favorite part of the (premium) game is the combos! I just made a 6 way unique combo at the beginning of a 40 min game that lead to Battle Royale for the first time (first 6 way combo and first battle Royale). It's too bad I didn't start the combo with Capt Marvel to get a 7 way combo... I guess that's my next goal
Smooth 6 way Combo
Battle Royale Reached
Quoted from BrokenChair:Well guys guess what I was able to play the game at my distributor he has one set up he will sell it to me for reasonable price.
; So I may go ahead and get it by end of week…
It is brand new but has 175 plays from people playing it at his shop I shouldn’t be worried right ?
I will have to say I definitely want to upgrade to the premium the captain marvel ramp is the coolest shot I’ve ever hit so far …
I played Star Wars too a few months ago and I will say today playing AIQ made me realize how much more fun it was then SW;
I am new to the hobby since September and this will be my last machine for a while it will sit right next to Godzilla pre
175 plays is nothing, I wouldn’t worry about that or that it’s been a showroom model at all. I would want a pretty chunky discount from nib price though considering what these go for used.
Anyone have any issue form the portal lock ball launch? I keep getting some crazy ball pops, one went to the ball launch, one up the ramp... Its random but sometimes it just launches out of the wire form.
Quoted from BrokenChair:and this will be my last machine for a while
This won’t age well.

You mean the Ant-man VUK eject, at the end of the portal lock subway?
Turn down the kicker power in the settings, to the minimum value that will consistently make the eject. I think mine is at 180 or so out of 255.

You nailed it! Nice work! The combos really are amazing! I don’t think any other game combos like this does! Especially the premium
Quoted from spicekabay:I have just found these in the cabinet. Does anyone know what we are looking at? Where do these belong? Haven't seen any place where these could be missing. maybe on the upper side of the playfield? Pin behaves normal atm... Thank you!

that is a top side screw most likely. I'd look at the screws for the ramps as there are 2 washers there.
Quoted from awesome1:Here's 76 Flips remaining with using No Mind gems... always good to have a little luck, but also making multiple shots!
That’s awesome! Always nice when the Hawkeye loop actually goes around to the flipper. Mine usually gets caught in the pop bumpers… it’s also tough to get the direct Thor coming off the Hulk. Well done! My scores were with Mind gem on Hard, using on Panther, Thor & drops consecutively.
Also you can do one flip better on the Pro than on the Premium, because the ball starts at the upper flipper, where you can either shoot Hawkeye from there weakly to get a flank attack, or let it drop to the lower left flipper to shoot Panther. On the Premium it starts from Ant-man and you have to flip with the right flipper just to set up your first real shot.

Or use a mind gem button blast as the first shot
Last night was having my best game to date. Then had to go pick up my daughter on ball 3 with an extra ball. So had to drain in the middle of an multiball and leave. Of course instantly drained last ball when I returned a couple of hours later. But made me realize how much these modern games with deep rule sets need a pause feature.

Coin door ball save? It’s basically a pause feature

One of my favorite SG achievements is grazing the Thor shot on the right side (but hard enough to make it) and then having the ball make the flank attack for the drops. Twofer one!

I’d have to see this. The Soul Gem mode really doesn’t get enough credit. It’s a really unique and challenging mode. Pat on the back to the designers!
Quoted from bigguybbr:Coin door ball save? It’s basically a pause feature
Nope, didn’t work. That’s what I did. I cradled the ball and opened the door. Flippers died, of course and ball drained. When I closed the door back, it ended the current ball.
Some games have an option in the settings to enable coin door ball save, that the game will serve another ball when the coin door closes if a ball drained while it was open. I don't remember offhand if AIQ has the option. It's not on by default and has to be enabled (you can go into the settings and enable it mid-game.)
BUT, you can work around this anyway, on any machine. Open the coin door and let the ball drain (it won't register yet as long as the high voltage lockout is off.) Then feel around inside for the trough eject kicker - you can manually push the coil and feed a ball into the plunger lane that way. It will wait there until the coin door closes. This works on any Stern with the coin door lockout. You can even do this during a multiball and manually push multiple balls into the plunger lane (lightly tap the shooter rod after the first to make room for another.)
One other possibility - you can also go into the settings mid-game and change the balls-per-game setting up from 3. You'll get Ball 4 eventually. Up to you if this method would bother you for your legitimacy of the game result.

Nice write up, thanks.

You have to turn that feature on in the settings menu for it to work. It’s off by default. AIQ does have coin door ball save.
Quoted from NoSkills:Here's a challenge for you. Soul Gem in 2 flips!
Finally got around to watching this. I was literally laughing out loud at the insanity of watching a 2 flip Soul Gem, although he did get a good bounce coming off the pops. Thanks for the vid! Apparently 84 flips is max. It’s stuff like this that makes this game so great. You don’t have to be going for high scores or Thanos necessarily, just wrecking the high scores for modes or doing some insane challenges like this is so fun!

Topper found and installed. If you don’t have but want one, they can be purchased online. I think they look pretty sturdy and the light show is nice. But the lit jewels really come across nicely and are interactive with the game gems. This topper is probably worth the $700 they cost.

found it, after the plastic behind ant man vuc went off... really painfull fixing it down there, even needed to partially remove captain marvel ramp... anyway, thank you for the hint!
Question about to get a new premium from my distributor and noticed the captive balls were really dirty and pitted I can replace with new balls easily correct?
They aren’t special balls or anything
I think it’s called a Thor captive ball?
I was not looking to add this particular game to the lineup, but one came up for sale at a reasonable price and distance from me so I figured, what the hell, I'll try it. I know I am in the early phase of owning the game, but what a pleasant surprise. There's a lot going on in this game, but the code isn't nearly as complicated as some make it out to be. Like I said I am in the early days of owing it and know there's a lot to the code I don't know, but that's also what makes it so fun. The general base of the code with collecting gems and bringing in multiballs with mini wizard modes along the way, very fun. I'm glad I picked this one up.

Yes, you can replace the captive ball (behind the Thor stationary ball that has a bolt in it - you can replace that as well, but need same style) with another pinball.

Replacing the balls is one thing, but you might want to ask where this machine has been, and carefully check the rest of the machine. For a machine that can't be more than a few years old, I wouldn't expect those balls to be in terrible shape. Mine look brand new after nearly 2 years, and the machine has a good number of plays.
Who here has Insider Connected on their home AIQ? Would you recommend it? I mostly play on my home machines and don't play a lot on location. I love the idea of getting access to the Gem Mania mode without the Topper, but not sure what else it really adds. Any insight would be appreciated. For context, I'm between getting PinStadiums on it or IC.
My AIQ has Insider but I've never hooked it up to use it. As I understand it, Gem Mania is the only thing it does for gameplay. Besides that, the only purpose of Insider at home is to buy in to the ecosystem, if you care about tracking the achievements and scores and everything (or if you have guests that do.)

Achievements are fun, if you don't care about those or tracking scores nothing else really for home users.

As far as I know, the Gem Mania replaces the 10 million in the grid, which is probably better to have anyway. PinStadiums would be cool, I would recommend the shaker first if you don’t have it.

I added IC to my early release AIQ... I like the data tracking, but Gem Mania in my opinion is pretty weak and I wouldn't get IC just for it.
To me IC is nice to have but I don’t know that I’d add it if I had a machine that could upgrade into it.
My search skills are failing me. I'm having an issue with the subway. One ball goes all the way through without issue, but if two balls are in the subway it has to ball search twice to clear them out. I thought I'd read someone having this issue a long time ago but can't find it.

The first thing to check (can be done from topside by looking into subway) is to see if the last "finger" (closest to Ant Man) is sitting lower than the other two. This allows the ball to move past the opto and the game can't see it., so it causes problems like you are mentioning. There are fixes for this or new subway mechanism is needed.
Quoted from blizz81:To me IC is nice to have but I don’t know that I’d add it if I had a machine that could upgrade into it.
I have 2 games with IC. It adds nothing to the game in my opinion except for wireless code updates. Otherwise useless.

I’m pretty sure it’s a brand néew machine from stern with about 150 plays from being setup at my distributors store … I just noticed the balls were dull looking…my Godzilla balls from NIB 0 plays were all dull looking also and pitted ..
So the first ball is a special ball with a bolt probably won’t replace that one but if I can replace the other one without removing a million ramps would be great
I’m getting my Premium delivered tomorrow and my distributor is bringing his tool kit this would be a great time for some complimentary service;
is there anything I should definetly have him check or look out for in particular?
I have limited skill base with pins so this free service call is a big deal for me

Thank you! I'll check this next and report.
Quoted from Spiderpin:If he's "Good Distributor" he'll know what to do. If not he will be in and out in no time.
What do you mean by know what to do confused…
Thank you
Also anyone know what the updated code version is?

Thanks getting my game in 2 hours and it doesn’t have insider connect…
How hard is the sd card update method
I did the USB stick update on mine, that's easy. Just download the .spk file from Stern, plug in the drive in the backbox, and the machine does the rest on power-up. (One detail that Stern doesn't mention - games with Insider have a USB wi-fi adapter plugged into the USB socket, you have to temporarily remove that to make room for the drive.)

I had the same issue with the subway and had great success with this fix:

Hi all just got my game have a question
Trying to update via usb stick I dled the correct files from stern site then un zipped them;
Total size was 7gb my thumb drive is brand new empty and with 32GB space
Drive says it’s full or file too large
What’s going on?
Another issue is two balls will sometime fire out of the shooter lane …
Brand new game about 150 plays
Update on game code I contacted stern and they said they are having similar issues with the code and trying to put it on a usb stick
My code is 1.01 hopefully not missing much just got game

Exactly! I did similar... the slop in the mechanism is the problem. Players have come up with a few different fixes and the one I did has eliminated the problem for over 1000+ plays!
I just listed a bunch of AIQ mods/parts for sale. I prefer to Sell all togther for $150, ($60 without shooter rod assembly) but will separate and ship at buyer expense:

First things first, is your USB drive a cheap Amazon knock off? It's easy to dupe a flash drive into reading it has more free space than it actually contains.
Second, make sure you're extracting the zip files on your pc. Then copy the extracted files onto the root folder of the flash drive.
Hopefully you have a spare flash drive handy to try it on.

It’s a usb drive 32GB I bought at Best Buy for $5 ; I contacted stern they tried to do the update with me and had the same issue they were embarrassed; they told me Le code is same as premium code and to try Le but I think I know the issue I download the zip folder and unzip it but it is like a file that ends in .sdcard
Ok now I Downloaded the Le file and it’s not a zip file it’s an .spk file
If I can get the spk file on the usb drive all I gotta do is remove the front part stick in the drive then restart the machine correct?
I just don’t understand why the premium file is zipped and unzips to a .sdcard file yet the le is a straight .spk download and is only 1.7gb compared to 7 or 8
