I like how you can get to wizard mode different ways, you need 24 trophies, but there are 32 total out there to choose from.

And settings to reduce that requirement all the way down to 6.

Help me out fellas. I'm not sure how I feel on it. It's strange. I like all the individual things I'm seeing. Layout, ramps, animations, etc... BUT, as an overall package, im just not feeling that wow factor. Wtf? The family is saying transfer the downpayment to something more lighthearted and accessible rules wise. They're currently screaming monster bash LE. I cant say I disagree at this point.

#354 3 years ago

I would suggest you play one first it is hard to tell by watching someone else play honestly.

I right there with you........

Honestly, I think this game just does not stream well. I am thinking it will be more fun in person.

If in doubt, always bail. Buying the first run of a new title that no one has played is a gamble for sure. Not like you won't be able to get one later especially if interested in the Pro/Premium.

#358 3 years ago

That's a legit possibility. I still think it sounds very complicated. I already own a JP pro and this seems even deeper rule wise. I also have simple games like fish tales that are family favorites. This game looks incredible but it may not be for me. Maybe. Man, what an odd feeling I have

#359 3 years ago

Did anyone catch the answer to this...”how do you lose a gem battle besides draining?”

I asked this in the chat, but didn’t catch the answer, if there was one. Is it simply timed? I was thinking it would be cool if the small stand-ups would work against you. I don’t think I ever saw an avenger get hit by an enemy weapon.

I suspect there may be LE's available tomorrow....

Can you please give us the link to your LE that is for sale? I have a few friends in the USA that are very keen to purchase a LE

I'm probably canceling my order and gonna wait. I have the same feeling and it just didn't do it for me.

I think it's just missing fun and enthusiasm for me. I thought it would flow a quite bit more and you're talking about 2 of the best players in the world playing it. I suck so I know I would get frustrated and with no other redeeming factors to keep me interested I would probably get rid of it.

Worst ‘owner’ thread ever.

Full disclosure, I have decided a few times to bail on LEs that I wasn't sure about and regretted it later. Living in an area where not a lot of LEs and/or Premiums for popular titles are available used so I factor that into my decisions

Well, we arent an owners thread anymore....lol. Got our hot little hands slapped on that one. It's now the hype thread. As far as that goes, I guess is not such a great hype thread right now either huh?

Most owners clubs start like this. People that are not on for the right reasons get sick and tired of their own shit and eventually drop off. Threads are really good after that.

After watching the first hour, I also didn’t know how to feel about it. But, turned off the stream to make dinner, turned it back on and I’m starting to feel it more. I wish the the Black Order could use the gems you lose against you as soon as you lose them. Take away a shot option or something.

I think I recall them confirming the only way to lose a gem battle is to drain.

#369 3 years ago

It's tough to feel amazed by something when expectations going in are sky high. I had big expectations going into the stream and I came away thinking it looks like a ton of fun and I can't wait to get it in the house. Seems like it can be played as simply or as complex as you want it to be and it'll be fun either way.

I was really happy with what I saw. I liked the art, animations, callouts, and music. I thought it looked like a lot of fun to shoot from ramp to ramp, and also repeating the middle ramp from the upper flipper. Had some fun stuff in the scoring like the gamma ray, Hawkeye challenge, computer grid, and placing & moving the gems to certain shots. Also neat features to get shots spotted and some risk/reward in building big multipliers or cashing out.

Seems like there will be lot to explore for varieties in strategy in the rules, and to me that keeps it interesting to have in the house.

#370 3 years ago

I feel like the Audio was incomplete and also not being picked up well on the stream that May have hurt its appeal .

That sounds like an opportunity to add additional features.

AFM is too legit to quit. I like MB, but love AFM (more exciting) and the rules are easy.

My problem (not my problem) but the problem if buying an LE is deciding before playing. I am totally going to try out Avengers in both pro and premium before I decide. It'll be around for some time.

#373 3 years ago

Very happy to see a challenging game and very deep ruleset. Brilliant.

#374 3 years ago

Well I'm not an owner, but since my wife kicked me out (much like the mods lately) I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
This ruleset makes me scream LIONMAN!

#375 3 years ago

Its strange of this game feels complete and rushed at the same time? The shots look good and the some of rules are sort of cool. Compared to Iron Maiden, Jurassic Park, Deadpool, and TMNT this game feels like a step back.

In what way? From a rules and layout standpoint, it’s 10 steps forward imo.

Animations look like a marvel ios game. Modes lack the immersion of Jurassic Park and Iron maiden. Deadpool, IM and JP made me feel like i was playing a video game where the pinball machine was the controller. This feels like a JJP game where they shots and layout look good but I dont get excited from the sensory package. It feels like steps backward from Keiths last two games.

Maybe the Pro stream on Friday will be more assuring ? Something felt a little off - the vibe wasn't there. Usually I watch a full stream. I couldn't do it tonight.

Interested to see the next stream when they do the Pro. This might be one where you have to get your hands on the game to get excited about it.

Yeah I want to feel like I’m playing pinball, not a video game. Looks like I’ll get that here.

This was going to be a chaotic ruleset. It fits the theme so well. You can “assemble” your team in many different ways to go after Thanos. I’ll wait til I get good time on it, but could be Keith’s best yet.

Just happy to see some pretty complete code before the release.

Lots of polishing to still do (as mentioned in stream) but still gonna be amazing out of the box.

I think it can be hard to feel really into a game when you're trying to figure out what all the rules are. I'm guessing that as there are more streams of the game and the rules get explained more it'll feel different watching the game.

For me looking at the first stream I just make peace with the fact I don't understand all the rules yet, and I just focus on whether or not the game looks good & sounds good and looks like a fun design to shoot. I thought it looked like a lot of fun to shoot and I thought it looks & sounds great too. Hearing their discussion of all the different modes and rules and ways to place the gems, etc, etc gave me confidence there will be a lot to learn and explore in the game.

I'm seeing some comments being posted about it seeming clunky and I really didn't get that impression at all. Even the best pinball players don't hit every shot, and it didn't seem like good solid shots were getting rejected.

I really think expectations going into a movie, concert, or any performance can affect a person's rating of it. It's tough for something to live up to big expectations. For me, it seemed like expectations for this one were huge (rightfully so) and I didn't feel let down.

MBr? You’re kidding right? Good game but no comparison to AIQ. Facial expressions add a great deal to making a stream more exciting. Unfortunately, everyone’s faces are masked, so it severely affects the stream results.

AIQ is a wow game for sure and surely will be game of the year, imo. And I’m not the biggest fan of the movies saying this (but like the comics). It is like having Disneyland in your home layout wise. The sound was somewhat muffled as well. In home it will be completely better.

Deep rule set is a major plus for keeping interest high in the home environment. This game has that in spades. Once understood there will be lots to keep that one more game feeling coming back again and again.

Perhaps you're right. Maybe I should sit tight for now. My wife is indifferent to the theme, she's not a hardcore player and prefers games she can understand at least a little. Same with my 13 year old daughter. Hence the MBr mention. Not suggesting its a better game.

Yeah, this is my consideration when looking at AIQ, too. I know I'd love to dive into a deep game, but my wife and kid are here for humor, fun shots, and higher percentage shots.

Fwiw, we have a MBr and they both enjoy it - although my wife likes our Ghostbusters more. Maybe you just need two pins.

#390 3 years ago

I thought AIQ looked good. Animations were good and fit the theme. Music was ok, and I like a deep ruleset. Will still wait, watch more streams and hear impressions after people start getting theirs in the next few weeks, but unless there are serious concerns with mechs, or quality, I'll likely be in for a Premium.

Wow. Mixed bag over 24 hours.
Guess these initial streams can go either way.
Need to catch up.

I think it looks great, love that there appears to be deep rules already and multiple ways to approach going through it all. Elwin for the win again!

Funny, was in for an L.E. day before they even announced it (huge keith fan). Read this thread just now and was prepared to hate it and back out...but no idea what anyone is talking about. I wanted deadpool done by Elwin and it looks like that's exactly what we're getting. Looks great all around. I'm first to bitch about animations but deadpool style is exactly what I want. Remember how unfinished JP was in the beginning too nothing to worry about here. All the shots look great/fun lots of fun playfield stuff. You know he'll flesh out the rules and make them super deep. I just don't see much to complain about here...

#396 3 years ago

After re-watching a little I think what really killed the stream(for me at least) is two things.

1. They just jumped right into game play, I think a little hype beforehand like we get with Dwight(on TMNT for example) helps set the mood.
2. The sound was very muffled, and frankly I think its not that amazing to begin with. That is my biggest concern but at least or me music and sound is huge for how a pin makes you feel.

With that said I think the art is great, playfield is unique and fun and while complex there are some cool rules. Like how they use the number of flips never seen that before etc... So if they can get the sound and graphics to a better level I think its gonna be just fine

#397 3 years ago

I thought I was the only one feeling let down by this pin but after reading the posts I don’t feel alone anymore . I think some of the wtf could have been rectified if there was a brief rules overview. So if anyone important is reading these posts maybe on Friday when you do the pro go over some of the rules. Another thing is how deep does a pin need to be damn I’ve seen people print out matrices to figure the best way to go about scoring well or best way to get to the Wizard mode on a hobbit. Screw that I just wanna play and have fun. Don’t get me wrong I want a little complexity so I can’t get to the wizard mode every time but I also don’t want to get a decoder ring to figure the game out either! DRINK MORE OVALTINE!

I agree, as an operator/ arcade owner I know the theme is good and it looks like it shoots well. I am on the fence about ordering one vs buying other games that i know will get people playing them. I dont need a game to be personally fun as long as it makes money but I like when the two combine.

TMNT had the wow factor from the stream and was sold on it and made the purchase even though Avengers has a much better layout and better designer.

#399 3 years ago

I still have my deposit down. My wife and 13 yr. Old daughter were excited. I liked everything I saw in its individual pieces. But, after about 10 minutes of that stream, the wife and daughter both went "ohhh looks very complicated" and were somewhat turned off from the game right then and there. And I know I've already said so, but I felt kind of the same way. Too darn complicated. At least so far. I'll keep my deposit on the LE and watch the upcoming streams before making any final decisions.

#400 3 years ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

Definitely looks complex rules wise, but man I already miss the direction that JP2 had. I suck at that game still, but when I've watched players have good games, (Karl IE Pinball) there feels like a distinct branching path that ties mode goals together in a way I really, really appreciate.

So far for this game, battles seem detached, direction seems aimless, and well that weird focus, (at least visually as it seems to be the main screen) on trophies feels literally alien to whatever direction this game might be heading towards. It just doesn't feel like there IS a direction/narrative.

The shots, made by amazing players, look incredibly fun, and I'm definitely excited to shoot it, it's just nothing feels connected at this point.
