Quoted from Underspin:

...Let's all remember that the chip on his shoulder (if it's perceived that way) comes from incidents like the jagoff that posted the infamous PORNO PU**Y AND BEER ad on Craigslist that got his "Tilt Town" venue shut down. Clay also pulled his guides down after finding out that more people were stealing than paying for them. I'm sure the list goes on for him but those are two that come to my mind....
!

Yes, Clay is passionate and incredibly defensive in his opinions. He can be brash and offensive at times. I’m a regular at the VFW and have experienced the “Wrath of Clay” more than once. The last one was when I soldered in a new PIA chip on a board (and did a nice job by the way) rather than using a socket. Boy talk about having a shit hemorrhage!

He’s a lot like Tim Arnold in that he call’s ‘em as he sees ‘em with little or no sugar coating and not afraid to do it in writing. Is he a Saint? Nope. Has is pissed off people? Yep, some multiple times (including me). Does he have social graces when it comes to on line posts? Nope. Has he taken his lumps when he goes off the rails? Yep (most of the time).

And yes, his is proud/protective of all the stuff he’s done for the hobby over the years such as:

The TOP “Shaggy & Norm” videos
The original Clay’s on line guides
The TopCast pod casts
Multiple Expo seminars over the years
The Ninja Webzine (currently at 881 repairs)
The original SE Michigan EM Club (I’m a charter member)
Operating EM’s on location (Crazy Carl’s)
Starting up the “Tilt Town” and “Flipper City” clubs for Detroit area Pin heads
Ponying up a shit load of cash to create the current Ann Arbor VFW
His daily in home repair business. (OK he charges for this, but probably not enough)

That is just a boat load of time effort and money that went/goes into the pinball community. Basically Clay eats, sleeps and shits pinball. I’ve learned over the year to take 98.5% of his technical info as the truth and his social opinions as just that…opinions. If I got pissed off at everything Clay says that bothers me I’d be stroked out by now.

Both Friday and Sunday are very very close to sold out and most likely will be by show day. Saturday sold out weeks ago.

Buy your tickets now before you get shut out.

There will be no ticket sales at the door.

"trufflepiggy" is correct.

I believe that between the “VFW Snack Shack” and nearby restaurants there are plenty of food options. "Football style" tailgating is perfectly acceptable. There is no beer or alcohol sales at the VFW.

For more "upscale dining" options:

5 miles north (8 minutes away) at Lee road:
Buffalo Wild Wings
Olive Garden
TGI Fridays
Johnny Carino’s Italian Grill
Jameson Irish Grill
Kerby Koney Island
Panera Bread
McDonald’s
Wendy's
Subway

2 miles South at M-36:
McDonald’s
Arby’s
Burger King

Quoted from RCA1:

My brother (who lives local to VFW) took me to this place last time I was there, very close, pretty good, relaxed, and reasonably priced.

Yes, I've been there. It's normally about 3 miles (4 minutes) away. However some smuck truck driver knocked down the 8 Mile Road bridge over US-23, so now it's a 15 minute drive around Whitmore Lake.

Quoted from TheLaw:

Oh is that what happened?

Well, technically MDOT knocked down the bridge. The truck driver just F***ed-up the steel underneath.

We decided to "punch up" the food from last year. The smoker starts in exactly 7 hours!

Thank you to everyone who attended the show.

We try our best to be the best show and the best support staff bar none.

Unfortunately sometimes the work load and stress gets to a few of us (read: one) and some unfortunate situations happen.

I was part of one and I handled it very poorly.

There are a hand full of you that know what I’m writing about and we can keep it that way. For those of you who do know and his friends, I want to publicly apologize.

I did speak with the gentleman whom I had an issue with and apologized face to face a few hours later.

I hope he accepted my hand shake, my words, and now this public apology. It won’t happen again.

Regards,

Doug D.
