CFH gets very upset when you attempt to manually move that sliding target and break the "bakery box" string that controls it......

Quoted from Whysnow:

I heard the ninja and crew are dressing up on Friday this year...

Who let the cat outta the bag?

Orange shirts are coming....Are You?

Do I know you guys?

Quoted from TheLaw:

The classic excitement you get heading to the transsexual casino to shoot dice with Katy Perry & Howdy Doody, and then bowl a few frames. I mean, what could possibly make more sense than that?

Obviously, you've never been to Sunset Station in Henderson, or the Grand Sierra (formerly Bally's)in Reno ....

#162 8 years ago
Quoted from bangerjay:

Are you going to have predator out?

Unlikely, because negotiations with Tim Fife have not been fruitful

#177 8 years ago

Clay doesn't even pay a hundred bucks for a machine...

#182 8 years ago

Last notice by me, the show is almost completely sold out for 2016. Anyone on the fence should buy their tickets today. Especially those who told their friends and plan to meet at the show. Make sure your friends have their ticket.

Quoted from vid1900:

Probably the best food nearby is at Weber's Inn.
Actual food fit for humans, and it's only 31 minutes away in a city called Ann Arbor.

Save room for the Coconut Snowball desert. Trust me on this one.

Quoted from TheLaw:

Haha I knew you'd love that place...such the old peoples hang out
if people are looking for Cow to eat, Knights Steakhouse is the place to go.
http://www.knightsrestaurants.com/
Heavy poors and the best beef in town. There are plenty of places to buy steaks at 2 to 3x thee price, but of course they buy all their beef from Knights. The Jackson location is more towny, and the downtown is newer and hipper. And next to Takashi Yagihashi's Slurping Turtle.

Oh is that what happened?

I do Knights more than Webers Inn as the price is right. Weer's is more for birthdays & anniversaries. Only thing I don't like about Knights is that they don't serve their hot roast beef during the evening. Only for lunch.

Looks like the show is sold out for two of the three days. There's always 2017....

Quoted from hlaj78:

Damn. I was hoping to make it on Sunday.
Howie
"Just heard from the boss man Clay...the show is now completely SOLD OUT for all three days.
As posted before, there will be NO door sales the days of the show.
Thank you everyone for supporting the show! See you next week end!"

The Best Western "host" lodging location Is installing a new roof for VFW Showcase guests.

Quoted from Shannyman:

About how far is 23 exit from 14 exit

Eight miles. But, depending on time of day, traffic, etc. Follow an on-line navigation system that may offer a faster, more direct detour.

#308 7 years ago

Safe travels to the show everyone. I'll be there working all three days from start to finish (not staying overnight though) except for a few breaks to catch my breath.

#310 7 years ago

This is primarily a pinball player's show; No streaming video planned by the organizers. But, someone will probably shoot a video or three of the machines and venue during the event.

#312 7 years ago

Lots of new Bally & WMS equipment at the three casinos in downtown Detroit and Caesar's in Windsor, Ontario. Also the Windsor Ballet....

#319 7 years ago
Quoted from bangerjay:

Any chance predator will make it to the show?

Still unlikely. Continuing negotiations with Tim Fife have still not been fruitful.

#343 7 years ago
Quoted from NicoVolta:

BTW... found a great gastropub near the Fillmore called Wright & Co. Lots of beers but only one on tap (awwwww)... but at least it's a good Kolsch-style brew (yaaay).
Pork belly sliders, paella cakes, and a crisp salami & greens salad. Loads of flavor... real good.

Stop at Cliff Bell's if you're feeling up for jazz. Good food and booze. And the waitstaff is not hard to look at....

Quoted from cfh:

There should be a ghost busters in the annex too. Consider it a launch party if you'd like.

What door prizes will you have for this "launch party"? Are staff technicians eligible for them?

#346 7 years ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

Just try not to let the mind games get to you.
PUNK

Dominoes pizza He doesn't know what a damn launch party is

Will there be some low carb pizza for us to enjoy?

Quoted from dnaman:

Any suggestion for proper replacement legs on my Gottlieb Spirit? Mine are badly bent and I am not even sure if they are the original legs. I suppose that I can compare while there. (thoughts Clay?)

Clay is probably not reading Pinside today.

Two Ghostbusters in the annex for our guests...

#431 7 years ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

Yeah you shouldn't have grabbed his ass like that...but hey it's a pinball show that's gonna happen
OK I'm frikkin tired now.

It's not like anyone broke a piece of playfield glass or something

#450 7 years ago
Quoted from mot:

Great show!
Surprisingly, the stand-out game for me this year was Bally "On Beam". It's every bit as good as my favorite wedgeheads, and it's made to want to play more 60s Bally single-players!

The Bally Beam-O-Meter is awesome. Same with the extra ball feature that disables the flippers and kicks it back via a rotating outhole mech.

#451 7 years ago
Quoted from yancy:

No debris in a game? That barely even counts as a broken glass. Amateurs!
Showcase was awesome, as usual. I've been to all three and don't plan on missing any. My favorite part this year was the annex section of Zacs and other assorted weird import pins. Every year I wonder how Clay can squeeze more games in, and he always does. Time for a third building?

When the glass exploded, Ballykid was nearby and heard the pieces fall to the floor. He then saw the pile out of the corner of his eye and at first thought someone dropped a bag of a thousand El Cheapo LED's.....

Quoted from bob_e:

Are those NIXIE tubes in the display?

Yes. IIRC, invented there.

#493 7 years ago
Quoted from pinwiztom:

Shoot
Oh well
Tough decision to be made next May.

I've been invited to PAGG for the past few years and have to decline due to the VFW Showcase.

Quoted from cfh:

The Banning CA show in January is quite good. And it's in January, when the weather in Michigan is terrible. That's the california show to go to, in my mind. Even if all the games weren't there, you would still be in california in january. Which has to be better than being in michigan in january!

I get to go there for work often. Just not close to the dates of the Banning show.

Quoted from cfh:

Note for 2017 we made the show dates so they do not overlap with Pin-a-go. We have had the same dates for 3 years in a row, so for 2017 we changed our dates so they shouldn't overwrite each other. I just hope we don't over lap Allentown now, but since they haven't announced, that will be their decision, not ours.
http://vfwpinball.com

Awesome news, I can finally make it to Pin-a-Go-Go.

Also, Mike Pacek is always welcome at the VFW Showcase. Unlike Allentown, no Groucho Marx disguise needed. Too bad he hasn't made it yet. His Expo co-host has attended though.
