This will be my fourth year going to MGC (third year bringing a game). This will also be the first year I'm going out to Clay's show.
To be fair, Clay didn't mention any other shows specifically because he didn't have to. The other shows I've been to suffer from the same fundamental problems: people bringing junky games (functionally, not just cosmetically) to get free admission, crowded game halls and long wait times, and the last day of the show being almost worthless due to people packing up early because the game bringers have long drives, jobs, families, etc. These problems vary in severity from one show to another, and I am not referring to any particular show.
The VFW show addresses all of these issues.
That being said, I always have a blast at MGC, and I look forward to it. It's the only show I've brought a game to, and that is a testament to the atmosphere and the people who run/attend MGC.
The back and forth that I've seen on this and other threads is a bit of a turn off though.
