PM sent for the available ticket

Quoted from mot:

Hey Hilton, any chance you want to continue the New Glarus tradition we started last year? That Spotted Cow was so damn good!

I can bring over some beer if needed for folks. I will only be at the show on Friday. PM me with your needs/wants. I am slammed so would need to grab it tonight right after work if I am picking it up.

lol. I'll only be there Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks anyway! I really appreciate the offer.

whysnow / mot:
if you want to work out the details, I can grab the beer from hilton and pay him on friday and get it to you on saturday. I will be there both days and hilton knows who I am

lol. You mean just like last year?

Nah, it's alright. Hilton said he's busy, and I still owe him for getting the New Glarus stuff last year.

Thanks for the offer though. So many generous people here!

See you on Friday JM. I will bring over some dank WI beers for mot. You pay me and mot pays you. Please remind me on Friday that I have the beer for you.

Friday is the big day for me, really looking forward to the tournament and playing those sweet Zacs. I plan on being around on Saturday as well but it's not certain.

#308 7 years ago

Safe travels to the show everyone. I'll be there working all three days from start to finish (not staying overnight though) except for a few breaks to catch my breath.

#309 7 years ago

Any live streaming of the event or any of the pinball tourney playoffs/finals etc?

#310 7 years ago

This is primarily a pinball player's show; No streaming video planned by the organizers. But, someone will probably shoot a video or three of the machines and venue during the event.

Quoted from NicoVolta:

I'm due to fly up this afternoon. Gonna explore the city a bit and then do Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum on Wednesday.
After that... er... hmmmm. Not sure.

M-Brew in Ferndale is a good place to go as well. They have Michigan craft beer and good pizza. Game list off the top of my head is woz, got, gb, kiss, hobbit, taf, tz, bdk, twd, met. All games are kept in pretty good shape and it's only about 20 min. from marvins (which is also a great place). While in Ferndale you could also visit One-eyed Bettys, they usually have 6 pins or so and an icb, also have craft beer and food.

Some may say to go to pinball pete's in ann arbor but unless you are playing a stern made within the past 3 years there will be something wrong with the game.

#312 7 years ago

Lots of new Bally & WMS equipment at the three casinos in downtown Detroit and Caesar's in Windsor, Ontario. Also the Windsor Ballet....

#313 7 years ago

The Hobbit has been confirmed and will arrive for the show. We would like to thank Gary from Abel Electronics for providing us with the game. Abel Electronics is the JJP distributor for our area.

mot > I picked you up a 12er variety pack of new glarus. I will give to JM on Friday. $20 even. (I think it was 17.99 plus tax, but $20 just keeps it simple)

Now you just gotta hope the guys pick up enough of their own booze for Friday night and dont try to bust into the spare 12 pack

Any chance predator will make it to the show?

All signs point to no.

You going banger?

Not this time

ok I'm OUT

Still unlikely. Continuing negotiations with Tim Fife have still not been fruitful.

Quoted from bangerjay:

1000% no.

There's a real nice location in Chesterfield that has 40 games. It's called the Sparks pinball museum. It's at a bowling alley/bar. Games are in nice condition there. Chesterfield is pretty far from Ann Arbor though. Predator will hopefully be at the show in 2017; this year the legal issues are too great, no one wants to deal with that stuff. Hopefully next year things will be settled enough so the owner can bring it for the show without anyone getting upset.

That is EXACTLY where I wound up after Googling "walkable hipster neighborhoods" in Detroit and finding a Yelp cluster of non-chain/non-fast food restaurants (always a good sign) in Ferndale. Parked and walked next door to M-Brew (due to the "brew") and lo and behold was surprised to see it was the pinball barcade of the neighborhood.

Lots of brews, pins in good shape, but the food was mostly premade/simple bar stuff. OK filler food but not great. Then went to One-Eyed Betty's which had about half the games but five times the patrons. Didn't get to check out the menu but it seemed likely to offer more dining options.

Today... finally... Marvin's. Also met a punk rock couple on the plane who came here to see the band "Babymetal". Wondering if I should go...

LOL, it's been years since I heard that reference. I used to live in B'ham and moved to the Chicago area in '90.

Also, Marvin's is having a stern Ghostbusters launch party on Friday at 7:00.

First of all, I'd be interested to hear about other Pinsiders who will be participating in the VFW EM Tourny this Friday. I'm in (for my FIRST tournament EH-varrrr)! Really excited to try my hand at competition and help round-out the bottom of the pack.

- -- ----- -- -

In other news, as I mentioned previously in this thread I'll be exhibiting my work on Saturday and Sunday of the show. However, I just put together a portfolio of my pinball original artwork.

IMG_2314_(resized).jpgIMG_2314_(resized).jpg

I'll be bringing this to the show, for any interested parties. Lots of stuff that I've never brought to a public venue before:

IMG_2319_(resized).jpgIMG_2319_(resized).jpg

Up close, you'll be able to see my process a bit better; starting with non-reproductive blue pencil then inking over top:

IMG_2324_(resized).jpgIMG_2324_(resized).jpg

...and of course many of the accompanying shirts will be present, too:

ClaytorSternShirt_(resized).jpgClaytorSternShirt_(resized).jpg

Anyhow, here's a list of the others:

IMG_2318_(resized).jpgIMG_2318_(resized).jpgIMG_2320_(resized).jpgIMG_2320_(resized).jpgIMG_2316_(resized).jpgIMG_2316_(resized).jpgIMG_2315_(resized).jpgIMG_2315_(resized).jpgIMG_2321_(resized).jpgIMG_2321_(resized).jpgIMG_2317_(resized).jpgIMG_2317_(resized).jpg

...and finally, a reward for those who took the time to peer through all those pictures:

IMG_2323_(resized).jpgIMG_2323_(resized).jpg

This is the first public announcement of my Stern 30th Anniversary shirt. I'm really proud to be associated with their year-long celebration:

ClaytorStern30ShirtMock_(resized).jpgClaytorStern30ShirtMock_(resized).jpg

Unfortunately, this design is too new to have shirts available at the show, but they're making their way through the production queue as we speak. Until then, you can come take a look at the original this weekend.

See you then!

I'll be there for the tourney on Friday to help you out Ryan. Will be a fun time.

#332 7 years ago

The EM tourney bank of EMs/early SS last year was wonderful. My first time playing Fireball.

Any changes to the line up this year?

Love the art btw.

#333 7 years ago

Whole lot of Zaccarias back there

I remember my first time. It only took me about two years to find one to buy!

I'm in. Might be my first "voluntary" tourney ever... the others were just to be polite to the hosts. (despite winning... heh)

Dude! Your stuff is bad ass! Count me in for a large tee w/the skeleton graveyard pinball party. That's awes!

#336 7 years ago

BTW... found a great gastropub near the Fillmore called Wright & Co. Lots of beers but only one on tap (awwwww)... but at least it's a good Kolsch-style brew (yaaay).

Pork belly sliders, paella cakes, and a crisp salami & greens salad. Loads of flavor... real good.

#337 7 years ago

There should be a ghost busters in the annex too. Consider it a launch party if you'd like.

#338 7 years ago

Playfield glass is available for sale at the VFW show for $25 a sheet

#339 7 years ago

Does anybody have 3 extra tickets for Saturday or Sunday?
Howie

#340 7 years ago

I'm looking for an extra ticket for Saturday if anyone happens to have one.

#341 7 years ago

Damn, I can't wait for Friday! Year three going and year two in the EM tourney (took day off so my company wouldn't schedule conference calls causing me to forfeit a match). Friday + EM ticket is the best value in pinball!!! ?

#342 7 years ago

Can't wait for the EM world champs that includes a bunch of SS machines!!! WOOT!

Stop at Cliff Bell's if you're feeling up for jazz. Good food and booze. And the waitstaff is not hard to look at....

What door prizes will you have for this "launch party"? Are staff technicians eligible for them?

Just try not to let the mind games get to you.

Will there be some low carb pizza for us to enjoy?

#349 7 years ago

Are you going to have predator out?

It would be great if Kevin was there to demonstrate it. I know of a few people attending that are still waiting for their game or refund.

#350 7 years ago

I'm doing my final run of prints today to bring to the show. Let me know if there is a specific one you might be interested in seeing in person and I'll have it printed to bring with me.
