Man, reading these posts about Maple Leaf Gardens bring back so many fond memories.
When I was a kid, my dad had season tickets one year in the Greys. Wow- that was a blast.
Fans were so loud and the profanity was non stop. I recall my parents trying to cover my ears quite often lol. Very different experience than today’s Venue.

@cdnpinbacon, in my 50s as well- you know, I think I do recall that chant.
Salming was awesome and the peanut gallery was in full force back then. Heckling & cheering at its best.

Man, the East playoffs are going to be a blast this year.
There seems to be so little separating the Panthers, Leafs, Hurricanes & Lightning.
Not to mention the Rangers, Bruins, Caps & Penguins are all fairly capable of an upset.
Should be some great match ups in the early rounds.

#1012 1 year ago

For the Leafs, no matter how potent their offense, will their D & more importantly their goaltending show up?
There’s no easy path for any team in the East.
If the Buds don’t finally get thru the first few rounds, which heads roll?
Man, Caines & Panthers look so strong...
Bring on the playoffs!

Yeah, it’s too bad for the Buds as the Bruins would likely be a better match up.
The Lightening are one deep tough first round opponent.
Still (and I’m not even a big Leafs fan)- I’m calling T.O. as they have the speed to match up well and this could be the year Mathews can finally be the difference maker.
Bruins are in deep with the Canes who look really strong. Calling Canes here as the Bruins goaltending isn’t the sane as the Rask or Thomas days.
Panthers are a beast and even with a lack of experience, look to be the team to beat.
Still, in the playoffs, anything can happen with these great Eastern match ups particularly if a goalie gets hot. What the Habs did last year comes to mind.
Bring on the playoffs!

Leafs look like they’re ready and hungry; Bruins goaltending better improve or this will be a short series.

Wow- what a crazy come-back by the Bruins.
East Conference is going to be a fun ride this season.

#2740 1 year ago

@ Luch: Yep, Leafs may need a re-set from the top down.
Considering their early exit last year, you'd think they would have come out of the gate with plenty of fire & conviction.
Bigger potential issue this year is their conference looks stronger than last year.
They've got some decent competition coming up; the next 1-2 weeks may seal the fate of the coach, shanny, etc.

Yeah, it’s a shame that we’ll see the a number of the beasts in the East falling in early rounds. If my current seedings are correct, the Devils could play the Rangers, Bruins the Canes & Leafs the Rays. Those three series could go any which way.
The trade market also seems to be dominated by the East- making it even closer in the seeding.
Man- going to be a great playoffs this year.

@ImNotNorm: That’s an awesome display piece. Very cool & love Mars Attacks. Where did you pick that up from?

@ImNotNorm: Thanks for all your help today with my issues on the Playoff bracket.
I’ll PM you tomorrow with an update.
Thanks again!

@ImNotNorm: Thanks for your awesome assistance!

#3389 11 months ago

Man, I don’t feel so bad anymore with all the issues I had on that site.
If it wasn’t for ImNotNorm, I’d still be trying to join. Lol
There’s some fantastic early match ups.

A couple of great late overtime games. That Dumba hit looked awful for Pavelski.
Seems like there was more nastiness in the Western matchups than the earlier games.
Playoff hockey is amazing.

#3474 11 months ago

Yeah- some so-so officiating.

TB looks hungry, the Leafs will need to find another gear, fast.

#3554 11 months ago

Some very tight & interesting series that could go either way.
Must win game for the Devils tonight. Leafs & Bolts could be a testy one...

That Bruin game was brutal. What an implosion.
Panthers simply outplayed them in OT.
Not sure FLA will be an easy out for the Leafs either.

#3701 11 months ago

I’m pretty much toast on on both sides of the bracket. Oh well, glad I didn’t place any wagers on most of my picks lol.
Looking like any of the remaining teams have a legitimate shot at the cup.

@cdnpinbacon: Are those pins located at the new Westjet Deck? Decent shape?
Looks like a fun spot.
