Quoted from Smack:

Here we go. Leafs are interested in Taylor Hall. That's the missing piece, right?
https://www.tsn.ca/nhl-rumours-toronto-maple-leafs-taylor-hall-1.1665333
Full disclosure, I am a lifelong Canucks fan so flame away. I know what I have!

Taylor Hall is the kiss of death.

Quoted from cdnpinbacon:

I don’t think I will ever be the same again.

So which NHL team will you be rooting for now?

#46 2 years ago
Quoted from cdnpinbacon:

My daughter in law has some contraption called criket .. Make all sorts of printing.
So I'm going to design a pinside hockey pool champ tshirt. Poppa pin..PM me your shirt size and address

I'd love to see this happen!

Quoted from skywyatt:

Did anyone else notice that Montreal didn't protect Carey Price?

The time to get value out of him is now. His time is done in Montreal.

I'd love to see him be traded to Colorado just for the historical context and excitement it could provide.

#48 2 years ago
Quoted from skywyatt:

Why do you say that? Not being snarky, just curious.

It's nothing negative on him or Montreal. He's just been there forever and it's most likely best for Montreal and Price to part ways. Players rarely play for one team these days. And Montreal may as well get max value out of him in a trade because he single handedly brought his team to the cup finals.

That's all I'm saying...shoulda made that clearer. (Its 1pm and I'm into beer #3 already)

#50 2 years ago
Quoted from finnflash:

But they wont get anything for him if Seattle picks him.

This is true.

Fleury traded to Chicago today for some minor league nobody.

Basically given away for nothing.

#88 2 years ago
Quoted from shlt_thunder:

There's got to be more of a story to this. Is it simply that they're going with Lehner and a backup?

Looks like Vegas believes the future is Lehner I guess. Sad future if you ask me.

#91 2 years ago

Apparently Fleury found out he got traded to Chicago via TSN's Twitter account. And didn't hear from the Vegas GM for hours after finding out publicly that he was traded.

And the minor leaguer that was traded is staying with Chicago's AHL team. Wtf?

And the rumour is now he is contemplating retirement.

Maybe as a FU for being railroaded by Vegas??

#96 2 years ago

I'm a simple man....I see a "fuck Bettman" post, I upvote it.

I'm beginning to lean towards that camp as well. I wasn't a fan of how they fired Gallant to bring in DeBoer. And now this with Fleury?

#98 2 years ago
Quoted from cdnpinbacon:

Its all business now Hue

But usually in business a transaction or deal is made. Giving away a player of his calibre for nothing isn't a business move. It's something else...

#102 2 years ago

My concern is teams giving calibre players away. It shreds the league's credibility.

You can't call that business. Or good for business.

#109 2 years ago

Leafs sign Mrazek for 3 years. (3.8 million per year)

Anderson signs with Carolina for 2 years. (4.5 million per year)

Evander Kane under investigation for betting on his own games.

https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/nhl-investigation-evander-kane-gambling-1.6125841

I called it too! Lol

Quoted from ImNotNorm:

I'm sure Kane, bet on himself scoring two goals....

#121 2 years ago

Fleury has informed the Blackhawks that he will report to training camp next season. The Hawks will do well next season.

Any thoughts on the Evander Kane situation? I wouldn't be surprised if this is all true. He is not only financially bankrupt...but he is morally bankrupt as well.

My thoughts are Bettman will do his best to sweep this under the rug.

#123 2 years ago
Quoted from meSz:

Like ALL sports these days, no one cares what an athlete does off the “field”. As long as they produce on the field all is forgotten!
My favorite all time is Ray Price. The guy plea bargained out of a murder trial and the NFL made him their poster boy a year later!

You mean Ray Lewis right? I remember that.

I think the times are changing though. Imagine how some of the Sharks players are feeling hearing about this.

The Jets threw his gear and clothing in the shower as a polite way to tell him to fuck off.

I wonder what some of the Sharks players are going to do/say to him.

#127 2 years ago
Quoted from hwyhed:

Is he the Pete Rose of the nhl?

I guess we're going to find out.

The Hurricanes just offer sheeted Kotkaniemi a one year deal worth $6.1 million with a $20 signing bonus. (Yes the signing bonus is $20!!!)

Montreal has 7 days to respond. If they don't match the Canes offer they will receive a 1st and 3rd round draft pick as compensation.

Seems like some hardcore trolling payback for the Aho offer sheet from Montreal in 2019.

The Hurricanes Twitter account is on fire making fun of the Habs!!

#138 2 years ago
Quoted from sixtyfourbits:

The $20 is a hidden reference to the Aho offer sheet Montreal tried a while back, as Aho’s number is 20. I thought that was some solid trolling lol.
Also the canes press release was worded almost exactly like Montreal’s when they announced aho had accepted their offer sheet.

Good eye on the $20 reference. I forgot about that. That's some fine trolling by Don Waddell of the Hurricanes.

If I was Montreal I would just take the 1st and 3rd rounders. I don't believe they have the cap space to sign Kotkaniemi to $6.1 million.

#144 2 years ago

It's too niche. The market isn't there for a hockey pin.

Individual superstar or team or H2H....it's just not a market that hauls in the cash like MLB or NFL does.

There would probably be more success and demand for a Bass pro shop pinball or some fishing/revamped fish tales inspired pin.

Hockey is just too niche these days.

#147 2 years ago

The Hurricanes updated their Twitter account.....to French. LOL

The trolling is strong with this one!

Undisputed offer sheet champions!!!! Lol

Bergevin's pride must be in tatters.
Screenshot_20210905-184740.pngScreenshot_20210905-184740.png

#154 2 years ago
Quoted from Canuck_pinhead:

Idk...
$6M for a third line Centre... I think they lost here.
Habs turned the picks into a quality replacement in Dvorak.

I agree the habs won in the long run. I would have taken the same approach the Habs did. A 1st and 3rd for Kotkaniemi you say? Thank you very much!!

Still....Bergevin's pride took a hit. This was a personal shot across the bow by the Hurricanes and Don Waddell. Message sending in the purest form.

I think it'll also set a precedent for future offer sheets. GMs may be a little hesitant to offer them now after seeing this back and forth between the Habs/Canes.

#157 2 years ago

I'm looking forward to the season this year! Hopefully covid doesn't cause havok with the schedule.

#159 2 years ago
Quoted from beergut666:

Is your new avatar the Imamaculate Baywatch on a piece of toast? LMAO!

Yup. I make a for sale thread to sell the piece of toast with the pinball machine apparition but the mods shut it down claiming it was a fake ad.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pinball-toast-apparition

So I made it my avatar instead.

#161 2 years ago
Quoted from meSz:

I thought you were signifying Edmonton's season!

Hahaha yea they are probably toast again this year.

Is it odd that, although I live in Edmonton, I get some enjoyment watching them lose?

#163 2 years ago
Quoted from meSz:

Not at all, it's called accepting the fact your team sucks!
Being from Pittsburgh, I went through the same thing for few decades with the Penguins and let's not even talk about our minor league baseball team the Pirates!

Edmonton isn't my team

I just happen to live in the same city.

#169 2 years ago
Quoted from meSz:

Where you reading this info? I see ....
Crosby - Expected to be out until at least Oct 23
Malkin - Questionable for start of season (this is a shame as Malkin really only shines anymore when Crosby is out)
LeTang - As much as I criticized him the past several years I thought LeTang played pretty well second half of the season. Being his last year on his contract I'd expect a big year for him. He recently advised the Penguins he has no desire to go elsewhere.

Maybe he's making predictions for a month from now? Lol

The BlueJackets have un-invited Zac Rinaldo to their training camp for this season. The reason? He refuses to get vaccinated.

He will, however, report to the BlueJackets AHL affiliate for training camp. (Not sure how that makes sense)

Assistant coach for the BlueJackets, Sylvain Lefebvre, has also been replaced due to his refusal to get vaccinated.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/zac-rinaldo-wont-attend-blue-jackets-training-camp-due-vaccination-status

#172 2 years ago
Quoted from meSz:

At 31 years old he should've just retired but no one would care. This way he gets his name in the news once again and for the last time!
In other NHL News.....I received an email about the special on Amazon Prime Video - All Or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs
https://www.primevideo.com/detail/amzn1.dv.gti.00b38ef3-3070-456d-8ec8-362aa4c4289a
Since it's the Leafs it's a safe bet to say it will be NOTHING!

In the article the NHL states that only 10-15 NHL haven't yet been vaccinated. Not bad for a group of 700+ players.

#173 2 years ago

Happy that Thatcher Demko had another stellar night between the pipes, captain Horvat w a pair of goals to spoil the Krakens home opener. Dudes during intermission said that a bottled water is $10 at the game, and a premium beer $16.50! That’s fn crazy

That's insanity!!

#307 2 years ago

I hope the Blackhawks don't rape the Leafs tonight.

#313 2 years ago

Rumor is Quenville out in Florida and Tortorella in. (Joe Paterno comes to mind)

I love the Torts BTW.

#316 2 years ago

#378 2 years ago
Quoted from beergut666:

It was a 7-1 ass kicking, pretty great for my first game in the barn in a couple of years. It got a little chippy when the Wild went up 5-0, and Winnipeg decided to start gooning it up. It was an afternoon game and I drove, so I only had two beers. Domestic pours are $12 and craft is $14 for what looks like a 20 or 22oz cup. Had I not been driving I would have ripped through 6-8 beers easy because I didn't pay for the tickets. We were on the club level and there was a full bar literally right behind us so it would have been easy to crush brews.

When you're down 5-0 there's nothing else to do but goon it up.

Knee to the head... after what happened to his captain last playoffs... not a great look.

Shouldn't of even got to that point. Refs let the game get outta hand in my opinion.

I don't disagree with the suspension though. NHL refs are just getting worse with each passing year.

#466 2 years ago

I'll take that lucky bounce thank you very much!

#476 2 years ago

To be honest I don't listen or watch the talking heads anymore. (ESPN, TSN, Sportsnet, etc)

I just tune into the game. Mute the TV between periods and ignore all the analysis and prognostications pre and post game.

Too many hot takes for the purpose of ratings.

#478 2 years ago

The site I use to stream has the same thing. Goes silent during commercial breaks and has video clips with the ice being prepped by the ice pros.

The only time I watch on TV is if the CBC or TSN (owned by ESPN) carries the game.

#479 2 years ago

#501 2 years ago

Technically 22-23 as there were no games scheduled for the 24-26th to begin with. But, this is only the beginning.

Yea. I think it'll only get worse come January.

World Junior pre tournament games cancelled. Doesn't bode well for the juniors either.

#504 2 years ago

The way the Leafs are playing is not sustainable come playoff time.

Rangers were smart to acquire Reaves. Wish the Leafs got him instead.

#616 2 years ago
Quoted from cdnpinbacon:

Agreed Hue....funny listening to Jim Ralph blame everyone but Campbell. Freddy Andersen 2.0?
9 total hits by the Leafs..good luck with that stat in the playoffs..wonder if Bernie and Dubas will be gone if Leafs lose again in the first round.

Reaves got 5 hits alone last night. Sure could use his grit in Toronto right about now.

#618 2 years ago

My buddy just had some box seats for tonight's Oilers game land in his lap. And he was kind enough to invite me!!

Here's hoping for a high scoring barn burner. I don't even care who wins!!!!

#620 2 years ago

Sweet man! Have a great time ..too bad you couldn’t sneak into the press conference if the oilers Lose! Sort of a dick head question from the reporter.

Thanks Bacon! I would totally be that guy. Either a dick question or something ridiculous like....

"Connor, did you crop dust anyone tonight?"

Fans leaving the rink halfway through the 3rd period, lol.

T-shirt cannon not working during commercial breaks. Classic oilers.

Oilers jerseys thrown on the ice after the 6th goal.

#641 2 years ago

Apparently 3 jerseys were thrown on the ice at the end of the game. Guys in the skybox next to me where chanting "fire Tippett" for the last few minutes.

What a great night!

#644 2 years ago
Quoted from meSz:

Anyone hear from Hue today? After that game I am wondering if someone should do a welfare check on him?

I'm here buddy. I actually took great delight in last night's game and turnout. Not an Oilers fan, I just happen to live in the same city.

Funniest thing last night were the covid rules in place which made no sense.

No food or drink in the upper and lower bowls for the entire game and masks needed to be worn at all times.

Skybox you needed to wear a mask at the seats and not allowed to consume food or drink there. But behind the black curtain leading to the box area you could remove your mask, eat and drink while you were waited on by hostesses in masks. (Basically hidden from the TV cameras)

Still a good night. I'm guessing I didn't make it on TV? Lol
