It doesn't matter whether it would have gone in on its own - if the call was that the kick assisted it in, the perceived outcome had that not happen shouldn't play a role in the call.

Here's a suggestion - ditch the "2022" from the thread title, and let this single thread on as THE NHL thread for all of eternity.

We did that with the NFL thread, and it makes it easier to follow (threads slide off pretty quick on pinside, and having a post in them is how I keep track). It also allows you to easily search and quote posts from years past. That way when someone say something like "hey, where's bacon?" we can find the exact point in time where he absolutely fucking had it with thelaw.

I guess as a leafs fan, your top priority is wiping away the painful memories of seasons past.
