Quoted from wtuttle:

All I gotta say is: "Let's go Buffalo!!".
This is the year, I swear
[quoted image]

Florida cup hangover, Lightning dynasty over, Boston regressing. That's my 2 cents. There will be opportunity to grab a playoff spot.

Extremely competitive conference, but Buffalo is young, talented, rising & so fun to watch last 2 seasons. After watching so many years of painful hockey, I'm just so thrilled to have a competitive team again, full of players who've bonded & love playing in Buffalo.

Playoff drought will be over this year! Then the fun really starts

Speaking of Buffalo. RIP Rick Jeanneret. A 51 year career in broadcasting.

My favorite was when he announced Brad May's "May day" goal.

Thanks It's been a very tough day for the Sabres & the fans. RJ was such a treasured icon for the city of Buffalo. He will be sorely missed. I cannot even begin to describe how his nightly game calls kept me connected to my hometown, even long after I moved away from Buffalo. So many unforgettable calls & memories that will stay with me for a lifetime.

I'm just glad the team & fans were able to express our thanks & say goodbye to him when they raised his banner before his retirement in 2022. Just wish he could have seen us end the long playoff drought, but I'm sure he'll be watching over the team from the big press box in the sky. Missed but never forgotten.

Leafs sign Matthew's to a 4 year $53million contract.

Now time to move Nylander!!!

That's quite a cap hit! Guess they're counting on a big jump next year.

#4357 11 months ago

Elias Pettersson, I believe, was waiting to see what kind of $ Mathews was gonna get before he resigns. He’s here in Vancouver for this year, and then is due for a raise. Mathews and Petey have similar points in the last few years..guess we’ll see if he decides to play in this market in time..

I don't see him getting that kind of $$$ anywhere. $10M tops

It’ll start at 10+ million. He’s a helluva 2 way player who’s improved every year

#4360 11 months ago

Jesus, that puts Matthews at the top of the highest paid players list does it not?

Hard to say. He's a star for sure... but is a bit scary to go all in as well, as he has had some longish slumps as well. Matthews being a no.1 pick with some solid years should def earn a prem. over Petey.

Guess we'll see..

Leafs have 3 in top 10 for the league.

And nothing beyond the second round

#4364 11 months ago

4 years for the leafs to win the cup..5 actually but who’s counting

#4365 11 months ago

Every team that has won the Stanley Cup,
Has had at least 10, often 15 of their own drafted and developed players.

The only exception was COL, their last Cup run they had 9.

The Leafs,
Have 5.

Leafs are not winning the Cup,
Not now and not most certainly not while they’re paying $70M to 7 players. None of whom are Vezina or Norris winners nor candidates.

4 year contract at League max, having now consecutively gotten the most lucrative contract in NHL history. Not a winning formula.

Ha! Good luck with that. Go Sabres

I'm a Hab fan but Buffalo is my adopted team.

Would love to see them return to glory like the 90s and early 00s

Wasn’t Vegas another exception?

#4369 11 months ago

Vegas doesn’t count.

They only proved that you Can still buy a Stanley Cup in a fringe US market.
To “grow the game”

I’m sick off seeing this shit on the tv, especially when it’s only available in Ontario?!

Not sure of the issues in Ontario but I love the fact that here in the States they make a huge ordeal about owners of teams having no part of a gambling business and players not allowed to gamble on anything related to their sport (not saying this is wrong) but every other commercial is telling you to bet online and/or a casino commercial.

A law has just been passed in Ontario effective in a few months regarding on line gambling. No sports stars will be allowed to Sponsor gambling sites.

Cabbie will still be promoting the DraftKings moneyline + over/unders between periods though.

Totally. Found tickets for the Leafs game in January. Upper bowl $200 per ticket.

Im hesitant at those prices. Even for the Leafs.

I’m pretty happy that my team has chosen Hughes as the captain of the team. He’s well spoken, driven, n focused for a young kid..he’s arguably the best d men this team has ever had!

Must be trying to keep him from signing a deal with the Devils in a few years. But yeah, I agree, excellent decision.

My local hacks were talking bout this this morning..he’s not liked in some markets, and maybe it’s a lil blown outta proportion. I know that I’d be embarrassed to show my boss some pix on my phone..but who knows..maybe he likes dogs, pins, n boobs too

Yeah, so subjective.. did it go like:

"Pick a few photos off your phone that tell me about you and your family".

Or does it go:

"Give me your phone so I can look at the photos on it to see what kind of man you are"

Seems like it was meant to be benign. The real deal is just how the season goes. lol

#4397 10 months ago

I read something yesterday that made it seem like Paul Bissonnette was the main guy squawking about Babcock. And Bissonnette strikes me as a clown, an instigator and agitator, so I kinda took it with a grain of salt. Of course I'm a Jackets fan, so I hope it's just someone running off the mouth and Babcock(along with the team) gets his shit together.

#4398 10 months ago

Bissonnette claims to have "tons of guys confirm it" but yet he's the only one speaking out about it.

Also, one has to wonder what Bissonnette would gain from this. If it goes South he's looking at possibly losing his TNT gig.

#4399 10 months ago

I would believe that he has a lot of anonymous sources... the guys from the podcast are pretty well liked by the players and probably spoke off the record to him about it.

#4400 10 months ago

Hi Folks,
Just trying to get a bit more exposure and traction on my custom pinball / hockey jerseys that I am in the process of making. If you guys could comment it would be greatly appreciated. I've got about 6 jerseys in development. Come visit and drop a comment.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pinball-hockey-jerseys-and-hats

On another note, I do feel my local team, Ottawa, will be onto something this year but my eyes are someone what glued to my all time favourite team the Blackhawks this season. Let's see if the kids can match the hype.
